Chapter 456: Chapter 98 Holy Curse_4

For the protection of the mages, three mages were positioned closer to the rear, a position that could minimize the danger they faced from a frontal attack.

Like a gust of wind, the sound of blade cutting through flesh and bones rang out.

A Berserker’s Battle Axe appeared out of nowhere from behind, piercing through the bodies of four mercenaries; it also knocked the Magic Teacher off his horse. The Wind System Magic Teacher had already activated his Magic Shield, but the shield merely redirected the heavy Battle Axe. However, the axe was too large and long. Even though the axe blade was redirected, the Axe handle, which was spinning, hit the Magic Teacher square in his chest. A crisp sound echoed as his ribs cracked. The Magic Teacher was thrown high into the air before he crashed heavily into the dust.

Among the mercenaries, the damage caused by the Battle Axe was far from over. After tearing a large gap in the crowd, the redirected Battle Axe killed at least five or six more people before it stopped.

All the mercenaries turned their heads instinctively, they were all stunned.

Not ten steps behind them, on the rugged path, stood a stone statue covered in vines, still holding a position of creeping advancement.

These Stone Statues were common in the Donau Wasteland, and the mercenaries had long been accustomed to them. What really surprised them was that the Statue had a pair of distinct, black and white pupils, and in "its" hand was a gleaming Steel Axe. The curve of "its" stone arm appeared like a "discus thrower".

"Swoosh"...

Under the astonished gaze of the mercenaries, a Steel Axe flew swiftly towards them, causing a tidal wave of blood among the mercenaries. The stone statue had already rolled like a whirlwind into the group of mercenaries, launching a warhorse, together with the mercenary, towards the crowd.

This Stone Statue had taken hold of a Viking Heavy Sword, and with a simple swing in the crowd of mercenaries, it cut the two remaining noble mages in half.

Almost at the same time, under Helen’s orders, the Base Dragon cast its Stone Skin Magic heavily onto the group of mercenaries. Despite its simplicity, the Base Dragon was a Sub-dragon Magical Beast! Although it only knew how to use this monotonous self-protection magic, the magic could actually be cast onto others.

The diameter of the Base Dragon’s massive body determined the range of its Stone Skin Technique. With a body as large as a small mountain, the effect was certainly broad, yet paled compared to the high-ranking Beamon’s Mountain Murmur Song. While its Stone Skin Technique was uneven in length and width, it was far stronger than the Mountain Murmur Song. When compared with Beamon’s "Stone Skin War Song", the Base Dragon’s Stone Skin Technique was at least twice as powerful in terms of thickness and duration.

All these things happened in an instant. The humans were vigilant, but they were taken by surprise when an enemy sprang up near them. They had never expected to encounter an ambush on this deserted ancient road, where even the wild grasses were unusually short. They had already been cautious enough!

"There is no incompetent magical beast, only incompetent Beastmasters!" the Stone Statue laughed wildly, swinging its heavy sword without a break.

The mercenaries would never forget that familiar voice--that damn, terrible, powerful voice of the Feilengcui Lord!

As well-trained elites, some immediately aimed their weapons at Liu Zhenhan, who was like a stone statue.

Many mercenaries suddenly stiffened--they were affected by the Base Dragon’s Stone Skin Technique!

Many people confused the Base Dragon’s Stone Skin Technique with the Petrification Spell. It is a common misunderstanding, the Stone Skin Technique, as the name suggests, merely turns the body into stone to increase resistance, albeit adding a considerable weight. However, it absolutely will not immobilize the body as the Petrification Spell does.

The key reason for the misunderstanding is that during the capture of this herbivorous Sub-dragon, desperate Base Dragons would use their Instant Magic to turn the hunter into a rigid ’Stone Man’ who cannot move. Actually, the Base Dragon always used this magic on itself. The Base Dragon was the most formidable of the Sub-dragons and, over the long evolutionary process, its Stone Skin Technique naturally matched its strength.

Under Little Fox’s command, this Sub-dragon, which was originally only used for heavy labor, unleashed an unimaginable power. The mercenaries affected by it did not have Liu Zhenhan and the Base Dragon’s strong strength, they became stone sculptures immediately, and even without the Scroll of Slowness, they became extremely sluggish.

After crazily casting the Stone Skin Technique on about twenty people, the Base Dragon was a bit tired and voluntarily stopped casting the spell.
