Chapter 442: Chapter 96 Immortal Crane Divine Needle_3

The battlefield at night belongs to the Wolf Cavalry, not the nursery rhymes of children.

Quickly, two companies of human light cavalry arrived. This was a combined force, with a number of bow-riders mixed in. Although the two hundred human cavalrymen were light cavalry, each rider was equipped with half-armor, rendering this essentially a semi-armored cavalry force.

The two forces slowly approached to within three hundred yards of each other, each arranging their formations.

The Wolf Cavalry was in no way inferior to the human cavalry. They wore neatly poly-synthetic armor, and even though their weapons were a mishmash, many Wolf Cavalrymen drew their familiar curved blades for this battle. Dozens of tamed wolves paced back and forth on both sides of the ranks. In battle, these tamed wolves were a formidable force not to be taken lightly.

The human cavalrymen, mounted on warhorses, sat a head taller than the Wolf Cavalrymen atop the wolves. This height difference prompted the human cavalry to promptly launch a charge, breaking the silence of the barren field with thunderous hooves.

Under Rovi’s inspiring war song, the Wolf Cavalry bravely charged forward as well, their battle blades dancing and the wolves howling.

"Hold on!", a bell-like voice boomed on the fields of Red Earth Highland.

The Beamon forces at the foot of Red Earth Highland parted like waves, revealing Korina, armed with a seven-bladed dragon spear and riding atop a majestic mammoth garbed in sparkling gold armor, leisurely descending from the stepped pathway.

The appearance of the captain of the heavy armored tribal militia of Korina, with just one appearance, made every human eye twitch uncontrollably. Facing such heavy armored cavalry, not even a ten thousand-strong force would dare to charge.

On the first level of the cave dwellings, mammoths covered in golden armor collectively trumpeted, their roars echoed by the roar of cave bears and the sound of their claws scratching the ground within the dwellings.

The battleground of the opposing cavalries was already leaning to the side of Red Earth Highland. Korina’s appearance and the roars of the cavalry’s giant beasts happened to offer the charging two hundred human cavalrymen a glance at the spectacle from the corner of their eyes - a sight they would certainly regret upon reflection.

The last opponents these human cavalrymen would want to face were undoubtedly the terrifying Beamon warriors during a Berserker’s battle.

These human cavalrymen had a fresh recollection of these mighty mammoths, still harboring lingering fear from their last harrowing encounter. Yet to their surprise, these Beamon turned out to be cavalrymen!

If they had to fight them, the courage of the human riders, already aflame, would immediately turn to ash.

It wasn’t that they lacked bravery. Those selected from a group of two thousand cavalrymen were undoubtedly the cream of the crop. But after witnessing the horrifying slaughter of Berserkers by these mammoth warriors, it could not be said that the human cavalry now losing their courage was due to cowardice. They were brave enough already, at least they had not fallen off their horses.Facing off with these mammoths was akin to a walnut clashing with a hammer, resulting in the walnut breaking to pieces. Comparatively, the cavalrymen felt like eggs about to collide with that very same hammer. Who would want to do that?

If they were entangled with the Wolf Cavalry... and these heavy armored beasts comprised of cavalry and dragon spears... even Captain Gatuso was at a loss.

Despite its small size, this Beamon territory maintained a diverse military force, from land to water, fully equipped. Even the heavy armored cavalry, which Tornado Mercenary Group couldn’t afford, was present here in a considerable number. Sweat poured down from Captain Gatuso and Knight Thomas, his son.

As for the two companies of cavalrymen, fear had taken hold, turning their heads sideways, terrified that the captain might order them to provide reinforcement.

Two hundred human cavalrymen decisively chose to turn tail and run. Their riding skills proved exceptional, veering off in hard, precise angles from the original charge. Relying on the sprinting ability of the warhorses and the distance between both forces, they hoped to escape. The wolves of the Wolf Cavalry weren’t as fast, so catching up to them was nearly impossible.

Ordinary Wolf Cavalry would certainly not be able to, but this group of Wolf Cavalry was different.

Just like these human cavalrymen, they were the elites selected from the vast army of Wolf in the southeastern province. These were top-tier Wolf Cavalry, professional Beamon soldiers.

These excellent Wolf Cavalrymen were not only proficient with their blades, but also practiced in a traditional Wolf Cavalry technique - "net throwing". Net throwing was a high-difficulty skill that required years of training to master. The nets carried by these Wolf riders were made from the fibers of a special plant from the Saline-alkali Forest, the hidden flower cactus. Each net was filled with numerous spikes, any captured game would suffer more if it struggled. The best Wolf Cavalrymen could even trap low-flying birds with their net throw.

Once the large nets were spread out in the air, a number of human cavalrymen became immobilized on the ground, the powerful nets covering them together with their horses. Just as they tried to struggle, the horses would fall over in pain. Before they could even react, a swift flash of a blade would sweep past them, bringing with it a spray of blood.

This trial was enough for Korina’s heavy armored cavalry to return to their dwelling even before they made it out. Although they had failed to annihilate the opposition, the Wolf Cavalry had executed their mission beautifully.
