Chapter 334: Chapter 71 Action_1

For the capture of the Newton Giant Birds this time, Gortani had made up her mind. She was determined to go, but also resolved to torment the haughty overlord a bit and make him realize what it feels like to be played.

However, despite waiting a whole morning, she didn’t see the lord coming to call for her. Gortani began to feel restless and eventually couldn’t resist leaving her cave.

Down the hill, there were reciting voices coming from the bamboo forest. The boys and girls were learning about culture from the scholarly elder, Andulan.

Whip sounds would occasionally ring out followed by a whoosh.

The militiamen were training Earth Badgers and Cave Giant Bears at Red Earth Square. These animals were initially a little wild, but the impatient Overlord took matters in his own hands, beating them into submission and neutering them cleanly and swiftly. Now under the tutelage of the militiamen’s whips, they had become as tame as lambs.

Korina had a command of twenty-two mammoth strongmen, but only twelve mammoth long-haired elephants. The three earth badgers and the cave giant bear had caught Korina’s eye. These days she had been exploring the wasteland for large caves, hoping to get six more mounts to complete the full cadre of the Firoz cavalry.

Gortani, pretending to be strolling casually, chatted with the militiamen for a bit and went up the paths of the overlord’s Red Earth Highland. Ning Yu and Avril were airing clothes and laughing merrily.

As Avril was poisonous, she was currently treated with great care and didn’t do any work. She was wrapped in a beautiful tiger skin fur coat, having idle chats with Ning Yu.

With the excuse of coming to see Katusha, Gortani managed to talk about the Overlord with the two ladies.

To her surprise, Lord Richard had already set off to the Bering Mountains with the Musketeers and crossbowmen early in the morning. He had even taken a few halfling chefs home along the way.

Gortani suddenly felt a bit disappointed.

Avril’s eyes were sharp, staring direct at a slightly dazed Gortani, as if harboring an untold story.

"Your clothes are beautiful." aware of her momentary lapse, Gortani smiled and switched the topic to the clothes hanging on the bamboo pole.

As soon as Gortani spoke, her face turned red.

She realized her ability to change the subject would never match that of the cunning Overlord.

While Gortani was cursing Liu, Liu was leisurely walking on the Donau Wasteland.

He had indeed wanted to invite Gortani to capture the Newton Giant Birds, but the inherent arrogance of the Swan Knightess stirred up a bit of annoyance in him.

’Die Halfling, won’t eat hairy sow thistle meat.’ Liu simply decided to go off on his own.

Deep down, Liu was also quite a proud person.

The journey to the Bering Mountains round trip would take almost half a month. If not for Guoguo riding on a crane, flying around and spreading innocent laughter in the sky, the journey would have been quite monotonous.

There were originally quite a few lice on the Sandfire Crane, but they were washed away by Liu using strong alcohol soaked from the Turtle Bead. The crane was now clean and appeared more vigorous.

Sometimes, Guoguo and the crane would disappear for half a day and then return with a large snake or some venomous insect. Watching the crane ripping and gnawing on its meal, Liu finally understood why the beautiful snake instructor was terrified of the Crane.

Looking at the graceful figure of the Crane soaring in the sky, Liu was more determined to establish a Firoz Air Force.

Just to guard against the Fairy Dragon’s fiancé stirring up trouble.

Liu didn’t believe that a single crane, along with forty airborne knights, couldn’t take down a dragon.

Having learned from the overdoing of planting bamboo last time, the eight-hundred-year-old "Gold-Pointing Mulberry" and the oil gourd seeds were arranged in an abandoned large kiln at the top of the Red Earth Highland. The sawdust which was continuously lit under the mounds of the earth surrounding the kiln to maintain constant temperature.

Life Spring was specifically diluted by Liu in a one to fifty ratio, and watered once each day.

Each drop of Life Spring could cause trees to grow for fifty years, so every time Liu poured a drop of diluted Life Spring, it meant that this ’Gold-Pointing Mulberry’ had an entire cycle of fruiting and maturity.

Except for a small number of core personnel, the other residents of Firoz didn’t know that the Lord had harvested about twelve thousand ’Morading Wrath Fires’ and one hundred and twenty oil gourds in just two short months, an average of two seasons of harvest each day.

These were the treasures kept by the Lord at the bottom of his chest, the highest military secrets of Firoz.

With a great dream of opposing the Dragon Clan in his heart, Liu came to the Bering Mountains.

This time Liu didn’t come empty-handed. He brought plenty of things to eat and use. Almost every Musketeer carried a large bag, making the elder of the Halfling tribe laugh so much that his eyes squinted into a line.

After enjoying several days of free food and drink in the Halfling tribe, the Overlord finally remembered why he came here in the first place - to plan the capture of the Newton Giant Birds.

These giant birds all built their nests on the high cliffs of the Bering Mountains, making the Overlord’s capture quite difficult.

At first, Liu took a more traditional approach. He set up a trap beneath a cliff where fifty to sixty Newton Giant Birds resided, like Runtu did, placing the brought barley on the trap with people hiding in the woods, waiting for the Newton Giant Birds to fall for the trap.

Liu Dazzling’s plan was quite enticing. The Newton Giant Birds were slightly struggling to find food in the winter, making irresistible the prospect of consuming wheat ears.

However, after waiting several days, a flock of Newton Giant Birds only circulated in the sky, refusing to descend.

Dying from freezing or starvation due to their refusal to bend down was not something these giant birds would do. Although Liu Dazzling was confident in his skills and those of his Musketeer soldiers to remain hidden and camouflaged, he couldn’t figure out why these seemingly clueless giant birds were so alert.

It wasn’t until a Halfling arrived to deliver food, nonchalantly placing dishes in front of Liu Dazzling and the Musketeer soldiers, that Liu finally realized the problem.

The overwhelming herbal scent from the Musketeers was too strong. Forty of them made for an overpowering aromatic ambiance. He was used to the smell after days of staying with them, but now under Ardu’s guidance, the Musketeers appeared to be a little nervous. This was a crucial first step for them becoming the air force of Felsicite. As they transformed from slaves with no self-esteem to the backbone of Felsicite, this great change inevitably increased their heart rates.

Their anxiety only intensified the tenacious herbal smell, which grew stronger and heavier.

This damn smell, carried by the wind, almost pervaded the entire deserted mountain range. With the cold and dry air, it would be strange if the Newton Giant Birds didn’t detect the heavy smell.

Liu Dazzling wryly smiled. In the past, his cold-weapon soldiers weren’t even allowed to smoke, to maintain concealment. But the Musketeers used long-range sniper types who had strong herbal aromas that couldn’t be masked.

Thousand-leaf Nymphaea must be planted next spring. If the fruit of Thousand-leaf Nymphaea could absorb bad odors, it could surely absorb the smell of herbs too! Liu Dazzling quietly repeated this in his heart several times.

As he was about to disperse the Musketeer and do it himself, Guoguo returned from deep in the jungle with a wandering fire crane, holding a Vajra Parrot. The parrot, the size of an old hen, had a long golden crest on its head. Its yellow curved beak was complemented by red plumage – quite a colorful sight.

Guoguo flew back on the Vajra Parrot. The parrot had been hit in the corner of its eyes and obediently followed Guoguo’s command to fly around.

This reminded Liu Dazzling of his fire crane. Given its outstanding speed, all he had to do was have Guoguo fly near a Newton Giant Bird. An easy task to catch forty birds, one by one.

The idea was good, but when he started to implement it, he realized that it was not as effective as he had imagined.

The Newton Giant Birds, unlike the relatively mild Vajra Parrots, had wings that spread six blades long, with hook-like claws at their edges. Although they were herbivorous, they were very aggressive. A flock of Newton Giant Birds, at the sight of the fire crane invading their territory, rushed up to attack without any courtesy, spraying acid saliva.

Their provocation irritated the fire crane who responded with a blast of fire spray. This not only instantly evaporated the acid saliva but also turned several Newton Giant Birds into fireballs radiating with a meaty aroma, falling like meteors from the sky.

If it wasn’t for Guoguo stopping it, the fire crane could have lunged again, destroying more of the Newton Giant Birds.

The remaining Newton Giant Birds, seeing their invading enemy’s dominance, immediately dispersed.

Liu Dazzling furiously stomped his feet underneath the cliff.

If he can’t catch the monks, he’ll destroy their temple! Liu Dazzling, who usually goes for extreme measures, ordered the fire crane to set fire to every nest, resulting in a fiery spectacle against the dark sky.

As for the helpless baby Newton birds in the nests, Guoguo brought them all down tied up in vines. All the baby birds on the cliff – not one left – were all captured.

A little later, the fleeing Newton Giant Birds cautiously returned. After circling in the sky for a while, they saw that the formidable enemy was gone. Only their nests were still emitting smoke, and on the ground was a large basket with a group of chicks chirping loudly.

The Newton Giant Birds landed one by one, intending to reclaim their offspring. Guoguo poked his head out from the crowd of chicks, grinning at the Giant Birds, dimples showing on both cheeks.

He snapped the wooden handle in his hand in two.

The halo of the evil song of patience from Kuai blazed.

In Guoguo’s tummy pouch, there were ten scrolls.

The Newton Giant Birds were large. While they turned freely in the air, once they landed, they needed a running start to take off again. The range covered by Guoguo’s ten scrolls was a thousand square meters, leaving no blind spots.

Liu Dazzling stood up leisurely from a pile of dead grass, chewing on a stalk. After shaking off the chaff, the club in his hand was conspicuous and glaring.

When the Newton Giant Birds woke up, their wings had been tied up, they felt dizzy and they had been transformed into grounded big ducks.

The whistle of the Halfling cook echoed over the wilderness.

On their way home, the Musketeers were laughing and couldn’t close their mouths, as they imagined themselves riding the giant birds across the sky. The catch this time was massive, totaling fifty-four Newton Giant Birds, a good half more than their initial plan. Had Guoguo not been impatient and had waited for all the Newton Giant Birds to land, they could have caught even more.

As part of their familiarization training, they all sat on the back of a Newton Giant Bird, using vines as reins, riding them like ostriches. They formed a grand procession heading towards Felsicite.

Sometimes things could be a bit absurd. No one had expected the first formal battle of the Felsicite Air Force would actually happen on land.
