Chapter 283: Chapter 55 - Heavenly Lid and Wolf Fang Club_1

This sudden shift quickly blurred the situation on the battlefield.

The robbers in the wilderness were very cunning! Gortani’s knights even felt as if they were facing a wily human army.

These forest logs, which had suddenly sprung from the earth to form twelve-bladed tree spears, if made direct contact with the skin of the mammoths, would have the creatures tasting their own powerful charge. Looking at the long spears carved from rough tree trunks, Gortani could imagine the terrible results of such contact.

Faced with this abrupt change, Korina almost lost her footing. Fortunately, the mammoth was not diving in to attack, and the log roller being dragged behind it slowed its charge just enough to provide a little tension to the Goblin Cavalry. Thus, in the blink of an eye, she managed to communicate with the beast beneath her and barely managed to maneuver a turn in the short distance of twenty yards.

The wedge-shaped charge formation, led by the head elephant, managed a strained turn. All the mammoths, with their huge bodies, barely avoided the robbers’ enormous tree spears. The sheer density of the spear points and the mammoths’ vine armor scraping against each other created a chilling sound. Despite the robbers controlling the tree spears being strong, well-built men, a large number were still knocked down. The rolling logs dragged behind the mammoths swung in a strange arc during the turn, and slammed forcefully into the giant shields erected by the robbers. With a deafening series of thuds, all the robust shields shook under the impact of the logs, fractures appearing in many places. The robust robbers holding the shields fell to the ground, spewing blood before being dragged away by other robbers who then took their positions behind the shields.

Bewildered, the robbers within the crowd either marveled at the mammoth riders’ skills, or at the mammoths’ colossal strength and sturdy vine armor.

"That was close!" Korina’s back was drenched in sweat, and her palms were clammy. If it hadn’t been for the beast under her seat, if they hadn’t slowed down a bit after breaking through the Short-legged Horse Goblin Cavalry formation, the consequences would have been dire.

Since she left Snow Mountain and joined Feicui, Korina, as the only knight in the territory, was considered the right-hand man by the boss. When had she ever suffered such a setback? When had she ever been so embarrassed?

The sidestepping herd of mammoths regrouped fifty yards away at her whistle.

Korina was slightly annoyed at her own timidity. Covered in sturdy vine armor, what harm could come from a charge! With a shout, she stood on the mammoth’s back, drew her ivory long knife, and pointed its blade towards the robbers’ flag.

The robbers had raised their tree spears once again. Several goblin robbers ran out from the formation in a panic, opened their water bags, and splashed the liquid inside onto the tree spears. Torches were immediately set on the sharp points of the spears.

As if suddenly awoken from a deep sleep, arrows, darts, javelins, hand axes, and even a stone as large as a ball were all thrown towards the mammoth riders fifty yards away like a downpour.

These long-range weapons posed almost no threat to the mammoths. The vine armor, criss-crossed in its weaving, further increased its resistance to penetration. Even Vieri the bear knight’s great axe couldn’t cut through it, let alone these axes and javelins being thrown by the clumsy robbers. Even a large stone thrown by a Hill Giant robber just prompted the mammoths to swing their trunks and knock it away.

The real threat was the burning tree spears sticking out diagonally. The scent of fire made the mammoths restless. Although their eyes were covered, these mammoths were still sensitive to the heat passing through the cold air from the burning spears, making them nervously retreat.

No matter how Korina scolded, the mammoths simply would not move forward.

Elephants are always afraid of fire! The robbers erupted into deafening cheers.

Rockets and flaming darts began to hail heavily on the mammoth riders, pushing them back to seventy yards away.

Banging their shields, the robbers, commanded by a mysterious voice, began to advance with large strides.

Liu Zhenhan and a group of stern-faced brutes stepped out from behind the mammoths, instantly halving the robbers’ cheers.

These Beamons were truly strong. Each one was the fiercest and most formidable warrior, and although there weren’t many, each one was covered in blood. Calmly stepping forward, the chilling murderous intent in their eyes alone was enough to freeze the cold wind.

Liu Zhenhan’s gaze swept over the crowd of robbers. Among the crowd, he recognized quite a few familiar faces from the Salt Demons and Green Demons. "You’ve prepared for so long, and this is all you’ve got?" Liu Zhenhan said with a cold smirk.

These escaped demons seemed to have provided the Razor Mountain Goblin robbers with information about the mammoth riders. The goblins, once the favored sons of the God of Creation, were indeed capable of coming up with such a plan.

"Cavalry! Fall back! Clear out the remaining Goblin Cavalry!" Liu Zhenhan shouted at Korina.
