Chapter 175 - 175 12 The Return of the King_1

175: Chapter 12 The Return of the King_1 175: Chapter 12 The Return of the King_1 Several leaders among the bear goblins huddled their fluffy heads together, ferociously discussing in their gibberish language, spurting their saliva in their energetic gestures.

This unexpected discovery bred a difference of opinions among the goblins.

However, at least one conclusion is definite – the initial fear of the bear goblin bandits has been significantly reduced.

Another group of bear goblins carefully climbed up the slope, swung the cudgels in their hands at the mammoth warriors, and then fled.

Just like the last time, the illusion disappeared and then reappeared.

These statue-like mammoth warriors couldn’t scare the bear goblins anymore.

Their decision to flee wavered.

A standoff, a long standoff.

The bear goblins continued their tense internal discussions.

The bonfire was lit, the moon gradually rose into the night sky, and Ning Yu’s heart slowly sank into despair.

The illusioned mammoth warriors were as indifferent and realistic as ever.

They could move yet had completely lost their power to intimidate.

After several repeated tests, the heads of the bear goblins finally reached a unanimous decision – these mammoth warriors were just a small trick from the mage, merely a decoration to scare people.

This news triggered a loud cheer among the goblins, and all the bear goblins’ confidence swelled to its extremes.

Several fat Larza beasts were dragged out of the herd, slaughtered, and roasted on the fire.

The bear goblins, their lips greasy with fat, once again ascended the winding pathway of the Red Earth Highland.

Ning Yu was devastated.

The illusion magic only had the power to intimidate, to instill fear in the enemies from their hearts.

But it required a strong power surrounding to ensure its perfect execution.

However, now without a single skillful follower, repeated use of illusion magic only confirmed the goblin’s suspicions and could no longer hold any power of intimidation.

Avril again fired a series of water arrows, aiming at the pesky goblin bandits that swarmed around them.

The bear goblins, prepared this time, used their round wooden shields.

The rough, but incredibly durable shields were riddled with cracks from the water arrows but remained impenetrable.

Although a few unlucky goblins were hit by the water arrows and fell, this minor loss was still far from being able to crush the goblin bandits.

Among all the magic, water element attacks were renowned to be the least powerful.

For a large-scale water element attack, Avril, at her current level, had to use magic scrolls to summon.

Barely managing to hold back her panic, she summoned a single water element warrior with all her might.

But before it could attack, it was submerged by the rain of cudgels from the bear goblins.

If not for her magical “barrier” possessing physical resistance, Ning Yu and she might have been the victims in this hail of cudgels.

Only then did Avril realize how much ‘luck’ had to do with her victories during her previous magic attack practices with her Magic Shark guards.

For the first time, the brash and capricious Avril regretted not practicing her magical power seriously.

Avril, gasping for breath, looked anxiously at Ning Yu, and from the corner of her eyes, she saw the encircling bear goblins, their wooden shields gradually closing in.

Ning Yu’s breaths were equally suppressed and heavy, as a faint line of sweat trickled down her forehead.

The fear etched on the faces of both women was vividly clear to the goblin bandits.

Mages aren’t as formidable as we thought!

The bear goblins were once again buzzed.

Ning Yu and Avril tightly held each other’s hands, both acutely aware of the sweat pouring from their palms.

The bear goblins adeptly used their encircling strategy, utilizing the paths on the Red Earth Highland, blocking off all escape routes for the two women from top to bottom.

If they hadn’t a wee bit of fear left for those statue-like mammoth warriors, the goblins would have charged long ago.

A few bear goblins wielding cudgels in one hand and torches in the other charged into the nearby cave.

There were sudden bursts of cries and thuds echoing from inside.

Seeing the bear goblins gradually closing in, Avril felt that she couldn’t muster the courage to shoot another water arrow.

“Avril…

Kill me with water arrows…” Ning Yu’s beautiful eyes were beginning to flash with despair.

“Why….” Avril’s teeth were tightly clenched, her pretty face totally pale, and her captivating golden hair filled with terror.

“Would you rather be defiled by these filthy goblins?” Ning Yu gave a mournful smile as her eyes filled with tears.

She began to think about Liu Zhen, a thought she could no longer suppress.

“No!” Avril shot a water arrow, knocking down another bear goblin, decisively rejecting Ning Yu’s suggestion.

Guoguo and the piglet Katusha, both with unlit cigars clenched in their mouths, squeezed their ways through Ning Yu and Avril’s legs and brazenly stood at the forefront of the confrontation.

Guoguo even casually picked a spiked club from the ground, the large club seemed out of proportion with its body.

With the cigar butt clenched in its mouth, Katusha, the piglet, was humming, wiggling its tiny tail in contentment, and looking back at the two women.
