Chapter 1571: Chapter 481: The Secret of the Mutated Arcane Beast
Just like the reception at "Starlight Avenue City," when Liu Zhenhan made his imposing entrance upon the martial stage in Sariwo City, a Winged Knight immediately stepped forward with utmost respect to invite him to the throne.
Bollywood’s Witch King, His Majesty Clark Gable, sported a small mustache and a perpetual half-smile that made him appear both unrestrained and gentlemanly.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, this refined Witch King enthusiastically invited Liu Zhenhan to partake in his royal banquet, tactfully avoiding any mention of the Left Bank Heavenly King’s succession issue.
Liu Zhenhan’s first impression of this Witch King was quite favorable. He distinctly remembered a roadside vendor mocking a customer for being overly picky during the time he brazenly kidnapped the "Peacock Beauty" in public. The vendor had sneered, "Who do you think you are? His Majesty, Clark Gable?"
Clearly, this phrase was a popular saying in the Demon World.
Before seeing the Witch King in person, Liu Zhenhan had been speculating about the meaning behind this phrase. Now, having met him, he felt even more puzzled.
Rather than exuding the aura of a supreme ruler, this Clark Gable was more like a noble scholar. His very presence radiated not authority, but a rich humanistic charm filled with approachability.
This suggested that His Majesty Gable likely belonged to the rational type—easy to communicate with, but once such individuals became difficult, they were among the hardest to deal with.
The royal banquet, held to welcome and honor Liu Zhenhan, featured an extremely high standard of arrangements, including two Six-winged Heavenly Kings as attendees and an entourage of Winged Knights as companions—a gathering that likely represented Bollywood Continent’s most elite military configuration.
While enjoying the banquet, Liu Zhenhan silently calculated Bollywood Continent’s military lineup.
Including the Demon Clan’s advance troops he had wiped out in South Cross Star Forest, it seemed Bollywood Continent initially had three Six-winged Heavenly Kings!
The Demon World only had five Heavenly Kings altogether, which meant that Clark Gable should have been the one thriving the most in the entire Demon World.
"Lord Karu, here, try this." His Majesty Clark Gable graciously yet elegantly offered food to Liu Zhenhan repeatedly throughout the banquet.
The Demon Clan’s cuisine always mesmerized Liu Zhenhan; though slightly inferior in flavor compared to the Hobbit Halflings’ dishes, their culinary artistry achieved far greater brilliance. Amid the lifelike sculptures of fruits and vegetables, today’s royal banquet’s main dish was an enormous beast resembling both a Larza Beast and a toad. However, its skin lacked the grotesque warts associated with frogs, and it had an extra webbed foot. It lay supine on a gleaming golden platter, its surroundings ornate with mint leaves and crispy fried flowers—colorful, splendid, and dazzling.
Its snow-white belly bore a striking circular pattern in bright yellow, reminiscent of mosquito coils, and it was unclear whether this was natural or painted on. Its five webbed feet were roasted into a rich red hue, giving off an intoxicating aroma.
"Compared to the other two continents, Bollywood Continent’s geographical conditions are less favorable. On this impoverished land, the only true specialty we can boast of is this rare Moon Toad! Every year, they only emerge from rocky caverns on nights when twin moons are full, singing into the sky and absorbing the chill of the cosmos. The oil pouch from the female toads offers an unparalleled flavor for honored guests, a delicacy unmatched anywhere," explained the Witch King, wielding a kitchen knife handed to him by his attendant. With swift precision, he drew a cross on the toad’s belly.
From the incision, steaming hot, silver-hued toad eggs resembling fish eyes poured forth, glistening with golden-yellow, fragrant oils. As the contents spread across the golden plate, it resembled moonlit rivers ablaze with silver brilliance.
"Using a closely guarded royal recipe, my royal chef prepared this dish, ’Moon Ascends to Clear Sky.’ He first neutralized the toxicity of the Moon Toad by inscribing medicinal symbols with seventeen herbal remedies onto its belly. Then, he roasted it for four hours using Biluo Fruit shells to achieve this creation!" His Majesty Clark Gable extended a finger adorned with a ring toward Liu Zhenhan and said with a warm smile, "Lord Karu, please try it. You won’t find this dish elsewhere, and rest assured, it’s extraordinarily nourishing."
"For a dish to require such lengthy preparation, it seems they were waiting specifically for my arrival." Liu Zhenhan mused inwardly as he pretended to be enthusiastic, receiving a plate of the toad eggs from a palace maid. Filling his spoon, he took an ample bite and began munching away.
The oil pouches from the Moon Toad indeed possessed a flavor beyond compare. The only word to describe it was "explosive." Each pouch was like a miniature bomb detonating on his taste buds with waves of freshness, leaving behind lingering fragrant notes. After three bites, the sweet aftertaste dispersed every trace of greasiness, refreshing his throat and elevating his spirit.
"Your Majesty, this is almost cruel. After tasting this dish, where else in this world can I find a flavor that moves me so deeply?" Liu Zhenhan theatrically shook his head and adopted an air of cultivated elegance.
"Many treasures are hidden within, waiting to be discovered. The Moon Toad is like that, and so are people, are they not?" His Majesty Gable chuckled gently and continued, "If Lord Karu ever wishes to enjoy this dish again, you have but to come to me. Would I dare turn you away?"
"Then I’ll thank Your Majesty in advance." Liu Zhenhan laughed politely, though inwardly he muttered, *Obischillaci, what kind of deal is this? Why does it feel more like a bribe?*
This Witch King had a sharp tongue; throughout the banquet, no songs or dances were arranged—only his eloquent insights, filled with references spanning ancient and modern times.
