Chapter 1537: Chapter 461: Rose of the Battlefield
"Puppet Substitution," an extraordinarily advanced necromancy—by obtaining the host’s physical remains and casting the arcane spell upon them, one creates a substitute puppet. Any attack on this puppet will directly harm the host!
It’s worth mentioning that while "Puppet Magic" is terrifying, it is strictly a non-lethal arcane art. Meaning, no matter how one tortures the substitute puppet, the host may suffer injuries but will never die. Eternal torment is the true theme of this magic!
When the Seven-Colored Dragon Ibrahim faced the "Phantom Shift" of the Imam Manali in Kalimantan City, Dragon Knight Lampard once suspected that the Imam’s spell was actually the dreadfully insidious "Puppet Substitution" necromancy!
To this day, Liu Zhenhan still remembers what Master Puskas told him: A Puppet Substitution and a Bloody Mary—these two things alone can destroy even the strongest will of warriors on earth, without requiring any technical expertise!
If the Witch King used this method to control his subordinates, it would indeed be terrifying!
Liu Zhenhan suddenly became suspicious. Had the Witch King Skolari manipulated Death Overlord Samuel in the same way? The historical records regarding Samuel’s betrayal seem incredibly abrupt upon rereading!
"Karu, why are you hesitating?" The Witch King Jiabao leaned close to Liu, who hadn’t moved for a long while, her gaze seemingly probing into his soul.
"I’m not used to having my fate controlled," Liu Zhenhan lifted his head, his eyes locked onto the breathtakingly beautiful Witch King.
"Don’t worry about unnecessary concerns. Creating puppets is merely a way to secure talent. If you don’t betray me, why would I ever harm you? Honestly, even after the puppet is made, you’ll live just as you usually do!" Your Majesty Jiabao chuckled lightly, "It’s normal for the common people to remain unaware of palace secrets. In fact, only second- and third-tier Dukes are ever turned into puppets. Ordinary members of the Demon Clan wouldn’t even have the honor. After all, Puppet Crystals are incredibly rare!"
Without hesitation, Liu Zhenhan pulled out a dagger and slashed off his long beard, shoving it into the Dreadlord’s hand.
"Respected Karu Heavenly King," Dreadlord Best grinned sinisterly. "This bit of beard alone isn’t quite enough for creating a puppet. If you could toss in some fingernails, that would be even better!"
"Damn it! Where’d all this nonsense come from?" Liu Zhenhan’s face darkened with displeasure. There was no way he would take off his gloves to trim his nails; it was a joke. With so many rings on his hands, while the Elemental Fluctuation concealed their power, their appearance remained visible, which would inevitably cause trouble during an unveiling.
"That’s all there is! Take it or leave it! Damn it, I’d rather not compete for this Left Bank position than put up with your bull!" As Dreadlord Best’s expression twisted with anger, Liu Zhenhan glared back, unwilling to back down.
"Enough, Best—you won’t manage to create the puppet with this quantity, but I can still do so," Jiabao stepped forward to mediate. "Hehe, it seems like every Silver-Eyed Heavenly King reacts this violently during puppet creation."
"Your Majesty, you overstate the matter." The Six-winged Heavenly King Stockton quickly interjected.
"Alright, enough! I’m tired as well; I’ll return to the palace now," Jiabao rubbed her forehead and nodded to Liu Zhenhan. "Karu, stay in this villa for the time being. Later, I’ll send over the Heavenly King’s equipment. Tomorrow morning, I’ll take you to siphon that Saint-Level arcane spell!"
"Your Majesty, could you have the companions of the ’Heart of the Brave’ adventure team brought over to be with me?" Liu Zhenhan promptly requested.
"The royal palace is strictly off-limits; outsiders cannot enter freely! George, you go handle this matter. Send someone to notify that adventure team to wait in the inn for now. When Karu departs for another continent to compete for the Left Bank Heavenly King position, they may accompany him then and secure themselves some positions in the process," Jiabao smiled meaningfully at Liu Zhenhan, issuing orders to the Dreadlord. With that, she left with a large group of guards.
"Karu Heavenly King, I must take my leave as well! As a fellow clan member, I genuinely envy you because what awaits you is undoubtedly an extraordinary arcane spell," the Six-winged Heavenly King sighed. "That’s the work of an arcane master who injured two Dreadlords! If I were in the same position, I would admire him immensely."
"Were the two Dreadlords severely injured?"
"It’s still uncertain whether they’ll survive. For them to retain even a single life would be fortunate. After all, the Fear Clan isn’t like the Lich Clan—they can’t transform into undead forms through rituals with absolute certainty of survival!" Stockton replied, visibly moved.
"What does that have to do with us? These useless trash—the more of them that die, the better—it saves us the annoyance of dealing with them!"
"Karu, your personality and your words—they send chills down my spine," Stockton spoke uneasily.
"Oh, please. Let those incompetent lots hurry back into Nai’aozu’s tender embrace to be cared for by the Demon God—that would be the best outcome!" Liu Zhenhan motioned toward Stockton. "By the way, could you take all the palace maids with you? I can’t stand the sight of them!"
"Karu, I can tell that Your Majesty Jiabao might have a bit of a thing for you," Stockton waved off the maids and unexpectedly joked with Liu Zhenhan.
"Stop talking nonsense."
"Hehe, it’s not entirely nonsense. Your Majesty rarely treats people this graciously. At least, I’ve never seen a Duke being lodged within the palace before."
