Chapter 1485: Chapter 438: Slaying Demons Again
Pope Paul Mardini of the St.Paul Church was dripping with sweat from his temple down his back.
The magic coordinates were correct, but what appeared before him was far from the legendary emerald hills!
On the Primitive Ancient Origin, where hills rolled on endlessly and wild grass grew thickly, there was only a dark area shrouded by a massive egg-shaped black shadow!
The waters of the Sanggan River, which should have been reflecting the silvery light of the dawn, were also being engulfed midstream by this vast shadowy curtain.
Like the gaping maw of a powerful demon from the Otherworld, this eerie shadow curtain incessantly exuded evil, mystery, and strength. Even the Paladins with eyes as sharp as eagle falcons could not pierce through this demonic nest-like barrier.
A special and familiar aura started to diffuse in the void; the Paladins, who had eradicated evils from the Otherworld for many years, quickly sensed that these magic elemental vibrations were indeed emanating from the Abyssal World!
"This...this is..." The Pope was at a loss for words, he didn’t see the emerald hills anywhere; instead, it seemed like a stronghold occupied by a mysterious demon from the Abyssal World.
As if to answer the Pope’s question, a huge fiery red head emerged from the black fog, and the tidal shockwaves of the Magic Element burst forth like a volcano that had been dormant for ten thousand years prior to eruption!
All Paladins let out a low growl, drawing weapons to protect the Pope’s chariot. The powerful and oppressive presence of the enemy made all flying Magical Beasts retreat in deep fear, while the Paladins summoned their courage to urge their partners bravely forward!
For this was the duty of the Holy Knights!
Before the eyes of all, a peculiarly large and corpulent phoenix with an especially hooked beak burst forth from the black curtain!
The wingspan of the phoenix, when spread, obscured a great expanse of sky, and its body incessantly exhaled billowing flames that swirled and fluttered and changed color by the moment – now pitch black, now pure white. Its power surpassed any conceptual realm of Fire magic!
Atop its head it bore a comical, mast-like, steam whistle-shaped crest, yet no one dared to mock its appearance!
Anyone who glanced even briefly as the capable of easily crushing a hill, the sharp and colossal talons, would have their courage swept away like duckweed in a waterfall – crushed in an instant!
With a look of supreme indifference, the phoenix surveyed the humans before it as a tempest maltreats homeless butterflies; no one could meet its gaze head-on. The only match for such power was a single choice—the Saint Level Mage!
Dragon Knight Gaxia had no choice but to stand audaciously before the Pope, though bravery is commendable, a Dragon Knight’s confidence was utterly shattered in an instant by the gaze of the phoenix! Paladins were brave but not foolish; when faced with overwhelming strength, there would naturally be a moment of fear and retreat – such is human nature. But to have one’s confidence ravaged by a mere gaze, Dragon Knight Gaxia had truly never encountered such before!
Even the Fourth-rank Jade Dragon Gixis felt terrified and intimidated. Just how powerful had the opponent become? Gaxia shivered uncontrollably, unable to help it.
Feeling the elemental vibrations in the air like raging waves, and witnessing the rolling waves of multicolored flames, even the most obtuse person could sense the hostility and anger of the phoenix!
No one could imagine what kind of violent destruction lay behind this fury in the next instant!
Gaxia’s palms were sweaty as they gripped the seven-meter dragon lance. Caught between interception and pursuit, the Holy Vatican’s Dragon Knights must protect the Pope’s safety, but could they escape today?
"Emperor Polo~" the parrot hovered arrogantly in the air, eyes glaring: "Who are you~"
The thunderous sound waves of Dragon Language trampled over all ear drums of the wilderness, matched only by the collapsing of Mount Tamerlarya!
Who couldn’t recognize the majestic and profound intonation of Dragon Language? Even those who hadn’t eaten Larza Beast meat had seen it in flight!
But...
This phoenix, albeit a little odd-looking, with an overly curved beak, shouldn’t be speaking Dragon Language, should it?
All human expressions were as if struck by lightning, grimacing.
"Great phoenix, I am the Jade Dragon Gixis..." Gaxia’s giant dragon mount, in the midst of its astonishment, didn’t forget its manners; such a powerful phoenix must only exist in ancient epics, and for such a mighty being, utmost respect was necessary.
"You are an idiot~" the parrot cursed loudly: "Scram~"
This time it switched to Aegean Common Language, understood by everyone.
What was terrifying was that with the curse, the will to leave wasn’t necessary anymore, as the air started to fill with fire letters corresponding to the curse, all in Aegean Universal Text.
"’Dragonflame Inscription’?" Dragon Knight Gaxia felt like crying; this spell was a standard Dragon Language Fire Spell. Being hit by fire characters meant one would have their soul scorched by dragonflame for the rest of their lives! That this phoenix could transform Dragon Language written in Dragon Clan script into Aegean Universal Text was truly horrifying – using this Fire Spells on such a level could only aptly be described as terrifying!
The curses still lingered, flowing like molten lava, and the fiery waves rapidly formed and expanded the characters.
