Chapter 1474: Chapter 433: Old Acquaintances
Shortly after, the opulent hall doors, adorned with copper trim, were pushed open by the Beamon guards, and Fat Luo led Prince Similian and a dozen accompanying warriors to stride in.
The Mermaid Prince’s posture was as straight as a lance, his eyes filled with the arrogance and superiority unique to conquerors.
Richard half-sat on the luxurious seat, a lit cigar clenched in his mouth, eyeing his great-uncle from the corners of his eyes. On either side of him, two Dunhuang nude figures stood, with Elise diligently kneading his shoulders.
Separated for over half a year, Prince Similian had matured, now sporting a thick and elegant beard that added a worldly weariness to his distinguished demeanor—a weariness seemingly designed to deceive young women into believing it was a pretense of depth.
Richard enjoyed playing this game too, but the endless warfare and killing had branded him, leaving behind nothing but fierce authority. Time and experiences had been like great waves that washed away all unnecessary impurities from his being.
Upon seeing Richard, Prince Similian, who had walked in so briskly, suddenly became rigid in his pace.
The Feilengcui Lord was no longer the Feilengcui Lord of the past; whether in appearance, demeanor, or even his left arm, everything had undergone an earth-shaking transformation.
The power to look down upon the world had quietly transformed this utterly naïve youngster into a supreme warrior who could disdain the world.
"You are... Richard?" Prince Similian squinted his eyes, barely able to believe as he scrutinized the Feilengcui Lord sitting upon the throne.
It was him! Even without waiting for Piegel to respond in person, Prince Similian was certain!
Yes, Piegel’s once unspeakably ugly face had changed, his left arm was intact, and his eyes shimmered with a strange silver cross starlight, but his gaze, Prince Similian would never forget until his dying breath!
It was a comet that sliced through the night sky, capable of illuminating the waning night!
It was an aurora, lonely and unyielding, blooming only for the sake of an eternal instant!
Previously, this gaze was merely a sharp knife, but today this knife had been tempered and reforged, even more intimidating to the onlooker!
"Yes, it’s me." Richard smiled nonchalantly, patted the tender hand that was massaging his shoulders, straightened his back, and gestured for the prince to take a seat.
After sitting down, Prince Similian took his time to size up Richard thoroughly.
Richard was also looking at him, and neither man spoke a word.
The attire of the Mermaid Prince had changed; he used to wear bright red lobster shell armor, but today he donned a fine Iron Armor set adorned with Night Pearls and gems, and the edges trimmed with gold sand coral.
"Richard, long time no see, you’ve become quite handsome." Prince Similian, made uncomfortable by the way Richard stared, let out a laugh, striking a meaningless small talk.
"Similian, you have an eye keen enough to spot pearls in the Desert! Sorry for being late; I had to run some errands. I hope you don’t mind the late reception," Richard said as he took out flint to light the cigar in his mouth, exhaling a stream of smoke mingled with the cool scent of Snow Lotus, "May I ask, what exactly brings you here this time?"
"Didn’t I already tell your chief elder? Why ask something you already know?" Prince Similian said with a light smile, glancing around the spacious hall filled with a dense array of silent and resolute Bimon warriors, all uniformly towering and strong.
"Freshwater Mermaids?" Prince Similian’s gaze lingered on the several freshwater Mermaids, sensing the familiar Water Element almost immediately.
"Correct!" Richard chuckled.
"Your strength isn’t too bad! It’s only been half a year, and you’ve grown so quickly?"
"Mediocre at best! Big nephew, aren’t you afraid I’ll slaughter you in a fit of rage for daring to come to Feilengcui?"
"If you lacked even that bit of generosity, would you really be worthy of my sister?" Prince Similian laughed heartily.
"I’m impressed you still remember Avril. In light of your comment, my heart has indeed softened this instant; otherwise, I really might have contemplated slaughtering you," Richard spoke truthfully.
"These men under your command are enough for that? But then again, such strong Giants are indeed rare!" Similian clicked his tongue in admiration, his glance shifting to the grotesquely tattooed stout giants surrounding them who, despite their size, could not compare to his own Banilou guards.
"You flatter me, these warriors can only be considered as militia!" Richard humbly replied.
"How many Giants like this do you have? Do you have five hundred?" Prince Similian gave a gentlemanly nod to the Maid who handed him a cup of tea, fixing Richard with a steady gaze: "Richard, all of Seia Empire’s Banilou Warriors are royal attendants, and if totaled, the mature Orca warriors would amount to roughly that number as well!"
"What’s that got to do with me?"
"This time, the Ares Ocean Kingdom will join forces with us to campaign against Aegean; once all border forces are combined, we will have thirty thousand Storm Splitter sorcerers at our disposal! I hope, with this number, you’ll drop your arrogance and pretense," said the Mermaid Prince casually, his smile confident, urging Richard for a decision, "Decide quickly! You know why I’m here!"
