Chapter 1221: Chapter 332 Tomb Raider Expert

The Mulan army returned in triumph.

The commander of the Imperial Guard, Golemuhamedi, led his personal troops back ahead of the rest. His losses were too heavy; he needed to rush back to report to the Caliph about the ferocity of the Beamon soldiers, otherwise, it would be hard to explain himself.

The days following the army’s departure were utterly tedious, and Liu Zhenhan found himself bantering endlessly with Rommel.

At first, Liu Zhenhan talked about his own war history, elaborating with a flair that made himself out to be a heroic and brilliant commander, exciting Rommel to the point of boiling blood.

Then, it was Rommel’s turn to talk about his own war stories. Whether true or false, all Liu Zhenhan heard was the Flying Camel Army sweeping across lands, invincible. He listened with rapt attention.

Besides King Sal and Mourinho, this handsome man quickly became Liu Zhenhan’s third idol. A commander who could invent weapons like the magnetic storm armaments and sandboats was worth admiring. And so, the old rogue made a pledge to invent some new weapons himself.

"By the way, how did you equip the Beamon air force with ’Airborne Gyro Parachutes’?" Rommel asked the old rogue.

After the battle in the Transverse Mountain Range, the vulture knights reported to him, and the well-versed Rommel instantly guessed that the metal umbrellas capable of auto-rotating in the air and counteracting Earth’s gravity were the long-lost masterpiece of the Goblin Civilization, the "Airborne Gyro Parachutes."

Liu Zhenhan didn’t hide a thing and boasted to Rommel about how he had eradicated some goblin bandits and inadvertently obtained the design blueprints for goblin weapons, including the renowned Magic Cannons, Ancient Power Fire Guns, and Goblin Sabers.

"Why didn’t you equip the entire Beamon army with these goblin weapons?" Rommel laughed heartily, clearly thinking the old rogue was bluffing.

"Equip my ass! I squashed that bronze blueprint in a fit of anger!" Liu Zhenhan spread his hands with a bitter smile, "The most powerful Magic Cannons and Ancient Power Fire Guns require a coating of Magical Metal, plus micro-engraving to inscribe Magic Circles. Where am I supposed to find such technology and materials? And ’Morading’s Fury,’ where do I find that? Although the goblins invented a black powder that could blast open mines, without the formula, I can’t produce ammunition!"

Liu Zhenhan truly spoke from his heart. Inscribing Magic Circles with micro-engraving, considering the current alchemy technology on the Aegean Continent, probably only Master Aymar of the Pompeii Empire could give it a try. As for the ammunition of the Magic Cannons, Fiery Jade might have the Gold-Pointing Mulberry, but the production of "Morading’s Fury" was just enough for the Musketeers’ aerial knights. To consider loading shells with it, he’d probably need about five gallons of "Life Spring" to barely suffice.

What frustrated him more was that, as an excellent scout, the old rogue knew all sorts of explosive equivalents by heart and could even conduct pinpoint demolitions like an engineer. Yet, he had never learned how to make TNT or detcaps. Back in the Southern Border, the troops were so well-supplied with ammunition that even a mere chicken coop would be greeted with a hand grenade; not being a military factory worker, who would bother to learn how to make homemade explosives.

The movie "Mine Warfare" seemed to have a verse or two about making homemade explosives, but Liu Zhenhan couldn’t remember it for the life of him.

After sighing and lamenting for a while, Liu Zhenhan suddenly remembered that Rommel had some dwarf weapons and casually asked, "Did the dwarves settle in your Mulan?"

Rommel shook his head and took his time explaining to Liu Zhenhan the origin of the dwarf weapons in the Flying Camel Army.

During the age of the divine-demonic wars, there indeed was a dwarf tribe of about three thousand who escaped to Taklamago on "Zeppelin Flyers." Initially, these dwarves planned to continue flying north, but a sandstorm forced them to land in the desert. The desert natives, upon witnessing these dwarves’ ability to fly, nearly began worshiping them as deities. Seeing their good fortune, the dwarves decided to settle in the desert. They lived and thrived for nearly five hundred years. After the awe and mystery faded, the initially submissive desert natives showed their fangs and wiped out the ill-prepared dwarfs in one fell swoop.

Rommel’s dwarf weapons were obtained through tomb raiding, excavating a joint tomb where generations of dwarf kings were buried.

Liu Zhenhan found it incredible that both the dwarves and goblins were expert tomb builders. In the tombs of their past kings, they buried their lifetime’s prized creations—which were also incredibly secretive.

Rommel pointed to his six-tusked silver elephant, telling Liu Zhenhan that it was a young Divine Beast he had adopted during his travels in the East, with a peculiar name "Treaty." According to the categorization of Magic, this Treaty should be an Earth Element Magical Beast. In the legends of the Silk Continent, Treaty’s gaze could penetrate the Nine Nether and see into the deepest reaches of Hell.

Rommel didn’t know if the silver elephant could truly see through the Nine Nether, but it indeed had the ability to see through the ground. It was thanks to this elephant that the tomb of the Pygmy King was discovered.

Inside the Pygmy King Tomb was a vast arsenal. Thanks to impeccable preservation techniques, the unearthed items like steam tanks and Zeppelin Aircraft all still smelled of maintenance oil. It was just unfortunate that these dwarves, famous on the Aegean Continent for their theoretical expertise, invented much but made few practical things. For example, the most excavated single-soldier defense weapon of the dwarves, the "Torrential Pear Blossom Crossbow," numbering up to ten thousand in stock. Still, the recoil of this rapid-fire crossbow was even stronger than that of a ballista. The bolts shot up into the sky, with short range to boot—utterly useless.
