Chapter 1183: Chapter 319 Difficult Valley Path_2
More than a hundred Giant Ant Steeds tamed by Nedved with the "Taming Secret Language" stood foolishly on the southern side of the ancient city ruins, dodging the harsh western wind while occasionally sneezing heavily.
Liu Zhenhan stretched out his left hand and placed it above the heads of the ants in the unsafe zone.
After half a year, his left hand, which had been severed at the elbow, finally grew back half a palm. Although only one thumb was visible among the five fingers, Liu Zhenhan was quite satisfied.
If it hadn’t been for the Beryl Dragon Pearl, it might have taken another half year for that hand to grow.
Half a year! How many half-years does one have in life?
The little red ants were too aggressive. Seeing an arm right above their heads, they quickly stacked up into an ant tower. As the tower grew in wobbling motions, it soon reached the height of Liu Zhenhan’s outstretched hand. Liu Zhenhan slightly raised the height, and the little ants aggressively piled on top of each other. Amid their shaky stacking, the ant tower lost balance and collapsed thunderously. Half of the little ants fell into the safe zone, only to have their butts punctured by Magnetic City with a ’whoosh.’ The magnetic force whisked away specks of iron the size of eye boogers through the air.
A crisp sound of footsteps arose from behind, and Liu Zhenhan turned his head with a squint.
Through the misty fog and soft moonlight, a swan beauty in silver helmet and armor, waist fitted with a silver cross sword, approached with a resonant clank. Her familiar platinum blonde hair fluttered chaotically in the wind.
Gortani finally woke up from the "Seven-Day Drunk."
"Your armor and sword, how come they weren’t taken by Magnetic City..." Liu Zhenhan said to Gortani with a bemused smile; the old rogue’s heart was thumping wildly. He didn’t know how to explain things about Lily to Gortani. For now, all he could do was make jokes to divert the conversation.
"My sword and armor are all made of Cloud Forest Platinum, not the uniform Mesolith silver-plated armor distributed by the temple." Gortani elegantly sat down on a clean silk cloth placed on the ground to Liu Zhenhan’s left.
Her eyes showed slight signs of swelling from crying, but they still shone and sparkled. A distinct bloodstain ran from her beautiful cheek to the beauty mark near her lips, which not only did not mar her beauty but added a sinful and sacrilegious flavor to her divine visage—provoking a primal instinct in men, utterly unrelated to morals and depth.
"Cloud Forest Platinum? Let me see." Liu Zhenhan extended his hand, internally cursing. Every one of my women is disfigured.
Gortani slowly drew her silver sword. After a dragon’s cry, a cold gleam sparkled under the moonlight, and flowing silver lines elegantly moved along the blade.
"What a fine sword!" Liu Zhenhan touched the blade’s pattern with his skin; a chill instantly penetrated deep to his bone. The dragon-like pattern under the moonlight seemed to be slithering about, ready to burst out of the sword. The polished blade was so bright it could be used as a mirror, incredibly smooth and clear, undoubtedly forged by an excellent Elven blacksmith.
"My father’s Dwarf follower discovered a small Cloud Forest Platinum mine in the Sunset Marsh. The weapons my brother and I use are forged from Cloud Forest Platinum..."
"I’ve heard about it from the Dithion Blacksmiths—Cloud Forest Platinum is the best material for forging military weapons, lightweight yet tough. It’s far more precious than Star Steel. It’s just a shame that it contains magic resistance and can’t be used to forge magical weapons." Liu Zhenhan nodded. "No wonder Mari’s Moon Blade wasn’t pulled away by the ancient city—it was made of Cloud Forest Platinum."
"Have you only just noticed that my sword and armor are made of platinum and not temple-distributed?" Gortani looked at Liu Zhenhan with an ironic smile.
The old rogue’s face instantly flushed red.
"I... I’ve always been a bit blunt and preoccupied... especially the last half year with all kinds of pressing matters. There was hardly any time to pay attention to the people around me. Deep in my heart, I knew... but with endless wars, ceaseless conflicts, internal threats, external instability... they almost made me less of a person! There’s just so much I have to do, things that must be done first..."
Gortani kept staring at the old rogue, her deep gaze seeming to carry magical power that touched the soul.
"The most pleasant days I remember are still those at the Red Earth Highland, baring my chest against the northern wind and roaring. Back then, there was you who disdainfully ignored me, Helen and Avril who constantly bickered and jealously quarreled, Ning Yu who chased after Guoguo to bathe, and the tranquil beauty like a serene snowy mountain, our Snake Mistress teacher." Liu Zhenhan looked directly into Gortani’s eyes, where a pure clarity swam in the dark pools: "Back then, we were a bit poor, but it was quite relaxed."
"It didn’t feel like much at that time, but now recalling those days on the Primitive Ancient Origin, where the wind blew quietly over equally beautiful and serene mountains and rivers, it truly quieted the soul too." Gortani sighed softly, her long eyelashes fluttering and falling on the old rogue’s still healing left hand.
"Fish in the river are not masters of their fate!" Liu Zhenhan reflexively withdrew his hand, giving a bitter laugh as he recited a Sea Clan adage, bit his teeth, and finally confessed: "Nini, honestly, I really really wish I could make time to treat you, Helen, Ning Yu, Avril, Daisy, Ruona,... and of course, Golinny... I really want to treat all of you well, but..."
