Chapter 1175: Chapter 317 Ant Cow
"Moo~ Moo~ Moo~"
These flat giant worms that greatly resembled Milk Cows even bellowed just like them.
They seemed not the least bit afraid of the strong magnetism of the ancient city ruins, swaying their plump, translucent bodies as they slowly entered the 500-yard safety zone outside the city, leaving behind a trail of rich, enchanting sweet fragrance.
Fat Luo was just about to step forward, wielding his twin mercury soft blades, when Liu was taken aback, stretched out his arms to stop him, and pointed at the City Wall behind.
On top of the City Wall, Cavalry Korina and Whale Warriors Figo stood shoulder to shoulder, each carrying a log on their shoulders. Their robust bodies paired with the rugged giant water-fir logs radiated a wildness unique to savage creatures. One after another, towering and formidable Mammoth Knife Saints emerged from behind them, each invariably carrying a thick water-fir log on their shoulder.
"Let’s retreat to the city gate first," Liu signaled with a wave to the eager royal guards behind him, and everyone, following his lead, slowly withdrew towards the inner city.
Feilengcui never fought battles they weren’t sure of winning. The acidic fluids sprayed by the Giant ants had somewhat left a psychological shadow in the hearts of the Summer Palace Warriors. Faced with these Milk Cow-like giant worms, no one could predict what special abilities they might possess. Using logs to deal with them was indeed the most prudent approach.
In fact, the hardest defeat for the Beamon warriors today wasn’t from the Giant ants. The truly terrifying killers were those ants smaller than gravel on the ground.
The outcome was quite disheartening. By the time these Milk Cow-like giant worms slowly crawled up to fifty yards outside the ancient city, following a command from Staff Chief Rovi, logs began raining down from the City Wall like raindrops. A series of muffled impacts sounded as the forefront of the giant worms were smashed into a pulp. Whale Warrior Figo directly used a water-fir log as a spear, impaling one of the giant worms into the sandy ground.
Instead of seeing any corrosive acid sprayed, they witnessed chunks of chive-yellow nectar being smashed out from within their bodies. A scent sweeter and more delicate than honey enveloped the entire ancient city.
The remaining hundred or so giant worms let out fearful bellows, slowly turned around, and slipped away towards the direction of the Ant Army.
Liu and a group of guards stood at the city gate dumbfounded.
"The older the veteran, the smaller the guts," Liu sighed. Even if he wasn’t the most discerning, he could tell these giant worms were utterly useless—lacking speed, strength, and reflexes, they were just like the Larza Beasts herded by Beamon herdsmen.
"What kind of bugs are these? And why do they have honey?" Fat Luo greedily smacked his lips; some of the nectar had just splattered into his mouth, the lingering sweetness making the Mammoth Knife Saint salivate.
"Could there be poison in this honey?" O’Neal asked with a sly smile, giving Rodman a sideways glance. Fat Luo’s face turned pale.
While they were speaking, those giant worms that had crawled away were being driven back by the ants. A Giant ant opened its wing cases and performed a continuous "9"-shaped dance in the air, while the Giant ants on the ground made threatening scissor jaw movements, surprisingly scaring a bunch of Milk Cow giant worms into obediently turning around and continuing their approach towards the ancient city.
"What on earth are these bugs? Never mind, just wipe them all out; less trouble is better..." Liu scratched his head nonstop, utterly puzzled. Why were these ants driving these Milk Cow giant worms towards them? To attack? With such clumsy, harmless giants, any Feilengcui Warrior pulled randomly could easily crush them.
"Boss, wait a moment before acting!" A Cicada People airman flew from inside the city to above Liu’s head, frantically waving his hands.
"Little Bell, what’s going on?" Liu glanced at the increasingly approaching Milk Cow giant worms, also hearing shouts from the City Wall asking the Mammoth Knife Saints and Whale Warriors to temporarily cease fire.
"Boss, these Milk Cow-like insects are ant-herded cattle! They are used for honey production, with no combat capabilities," the Cicada People cavalryman quickly explained, "They are aphids, also called Ant Cows!"
"Ant-herded cattle? Aphids? Are aphids this big? Haha... Little Bell, are you sure you’re not talking nonsense?" Liu focused his attention on the son of the Skade tribe elder Bayley.
"Of course, I’m certain. I’m also from the Bug Clan Beamon! We have had interactions with the Ant People from the Ant Clan for many years! Of course, I understand the habits of ants!" Cicada People Little Bell grinned, showing off his white teeth, "Aphids are indeed very small in the Aegean Continent, but who’s to say these desert ants haven’t bred a new variety after long-term cultivation? You also saw, on the way here, there was a large Cactus Forest; I guarantee that’s definitely where the ants pasture the Ant Cows!"
"Well then, let’s bring these Ant Cows into the city!" Liu frowned slightly, hesitated for a moment, then instructed the guards, "Everyone remember not to act rashly; let’s see what tricks these insects play first!"
As the Beamon warriors cleared the way, these big-bottomed giant worms one by one crawled through the city gate into the Inner city, hesitated briefly, then spotting the Ant Queen tied under the fragrant citrus tree, all the giant worms slowly crawled over, gathering around the plump, snow-white Ant Queen.
