Chapter 1114: Chapter 293: Underground Assault_2
"You’re being absolutely unreasonable! How could you... you..." Gortani clenched her teeth and grabbed her sister, "Forget it, Lily! Let’s go!"
The two swan beauties trembled with anger, their feathers shaking as they turned their backs and decisively walked away.
Liu Zhenhan stretched out his hand in a daze, wanting to call out to Gortani, but not knowing what to say, he slumped his arm back down.
He knew it was over, Gortani’s family was strict, and having seen that, she surely wouldn’t bother with him anymore.
Liu Zhenhan felt damn frustrated! How did he stumble into this mess? Golinny, that damned girl, why was she snooping around everywhere! She had no manners at all!
"What did the two of them just see?" Joan of Arc furrowed her brows, her face full of confusion as she looked at Liu Zhenhan.
"Nothing much, just some extremely violent stuff, they probably couldn’t handle it," Liu Zhenhan dared not look Joan of Arc in the eyes.
"I’ll come to your tent tonight, and you can show me those things," Joan of Arc was a clever girl, and by saying this, it was clear she was somewhat distrustful of old Liu’s words.
"Did you forget what day it is? It’s the sixth day! You have to be careful, after all, there are still over ten hours until tomorrow," Liu Zhenhan scrambled to change the subject again.
"I’m not worried at all now!" Joan of Arc huffed through her nose, "I’ve completely thought it through now, that matter is just absurd."
"I’ll go too tonight, I love watching live actions the most, I’ll bring my brother and aunt and uncle along too," Qian Qian chimed in.
"Er..." Liu Zhenhan was speechless, thinking to himself what a mess this was.
"It’s settled then." Doubt clearly flickered in Joan of Arc’s eyes, her innate female curiosity plainly written on her face, "Don’t try to fool me tonight with some DV live-action that I’ve already seen!"
Old Liu was suddenly at a loss for words.
For a moment, he felt as if he was back in Valencia City, dealing with that demanding little nun who always gave him orders.
The lake water suddenly stirred up huge ripples, and a rumbling sound echoed through the oasis, like the distant sound of a cavalry charging through the desert, yet it wasn’t quite like the sound of camel hooves.
This disturbance conveniently provided Liu Zhenhan with an escape from his predicament.
All those in the water lifted their heads and strained their eyes looking out towards the desert oasis, but the line of sight was obstructed by the supplies and forests in the oasis, making it difficult to see exactly what was happening outside.
Liu Zhenhan’s skin felt the repeated tremors in the water, a very strange sensation.
Many Piegel warriors had already run out of the tents in the oasis, obviously feeling the strange sounds as well. Antelope warriors and musketeers looked up curiously at their surroundings and the sky; they were in the process of fitting their mounts with amber battle armor. Elder Andulan of the Dragon Clan really was as picky as his kin, providing them with beautifully textured, semi-fluid pine resin that solidified into amber, and even the sand used for this auxiliary armor was specially sifted colored fine sand from the desert—both hard and pretty.
Elves archers on the War Ancient Tree were astir, each standing on the vine platforms looking into the distance, while several palace guards hurriedly slid down from the vines to the ground.
"Boss, no abnormalities detected!" Mage Tang Ning shouted from the War Ancient Tree, his voice amplified by a Wind System spell echoing through the entire oasis.
"There’s no appearance of any cavalry forces around!" The mage’s voice was certain.
For some reason, Liu Zhenhan just felt something was not quite right. He was extremely sensitive to killing intent, and now the air was filled with a dangerous scent that even the words of the Elves Mage failed to put him at ease.
The vibrations in the water grew more and more intense. What had started as ripples had now turned into waves pounding and lashing about, creating a bizarre sound within the oasis, resembling that of an electric saw cutting through a tree. This noise seemed to emerge from the ground itself, and no longer resembled the sound of camel hooves trembling upon the earth.
"Could it be an earthquake?" Liu Zhenhan, not knowing why, suddenly thought of an earthquake, and the idea made him shiver uncontrollably.
"No good! Black dots have appeared in the sky to the northeast! It’s the Vulture People!" The Elves Mage Tang Ning’s voice erupted into a fierce roar, "They’re coming fast!"
"Damn!" Liu Zhenhan wiped his face and gave a cold smile, "What’s meant to come has finally arrived! And they bring such a grand spectacle, a howling death knell? Obischillaci! Bloody hell, I’ve been playing with this for who knows how long. Kill them all, don’t let a single one go!"
"Let’s go up and change clothes!" Qian Qian and Joan of Arc quickly suggested.
"Isn’t that making too much of a fuss?" Liu Zhenhan climbed onto the airbed made of fish skin, and pulled the two beauties up with him, "Do you really need to take action for such minor characters?"
The soldiers of the Aeromarine shot up into the air with "whoosh whoosh" running starts, and the War Ancient Tree emitted creaking noises as it turned.
"Duncan! Ardu! Don’t engage them! Stay low, draw them in!" Liu Zhenhan yelled into the sky.
"Prince Kahn was right. The Mulanese really are planning to hit our supply base," Joan of Arc said comfortably as she lay in Liu Zhenhan’s arms.
"My Medusa Badge is still on shore," Qian Qian said, slightly worried, but then she curled up in Liu Zhenhan’s broad embrace like a little kitten.
The combined weight of the three people pressed the airbed down, submerging half of it underwater, and when the plump Guoguo clambered onto Liu’s belly from the water, the airbed sank even further.
"What is this?" Liu Zhenhan looked up at the blue sky and laughed heartily, "Shouldn’t this be called watching the tumultuous world with a smile?"
His laughter came to an abrupt halt.
Fifty yards to the west of the lakeshore, the patch of sand interspersed with thorny bushes suddenly roiled violently, and with a booming sound as if from nowhere, an enormous object burst forth. This bizarre creature that emerged from the sand was a giant snail, at least two meters tall with a surface area no less than that of a room. Pointed at one end and rounded at the other, it was dark and glossy with circular ridges adorning its shell. The pointed tip of the snail spun rapidly, flicking strings of yellow sand, wet earth, and roots into the air.
"Boom boom boom!" The entire Yale Oasis was filled with echoing blasts as giant snails sprung from underground to the surface, landing with heavy thuds and covering the center of the oasis in a radial pattern.
All of the Beamons were dumbstruck, somewhat at a loss.
From the large head of each of these behemoth snails, a door-like opening swung wide, and one after another, short but sturdy Dwarf Soldiers with plated beards emerged. These Dwarves had earthy-yellow eyes, radiating a glow of plundering and marauding.
"Tunneling through the earth?" Liu Zhenhan twisted his mouth, staring dumbfounded at the Dwarves.
From the colossal snail by the lakeside, a total of twenty Dwarves leaped out, each brandishing a massive war hammer and carrying huge paper-wrapped bundles. Upon seeing Liu Zhenhan in the water, they were visibly startled.
The last to emerge from the giant snail was a Mage, gaunt and drawn, dressed in Aegeanian-style Robes, holding a Bone Magic Wand. The first sight that met the Mage was of a robust man, lying in the clear waves, embracing two exquisitely beautiful young women.
"Heavens." The emaciated Mage was filled with indignant fury and muttered in a pure Aegean Humans tongue, "You’re having too damn good a time, aren’t you?"
