Chapter 1111: Chapter 291 Leisurely Vacation_2
The baffling part for Liu Shock lay precisely here: if the silver-threaded gloves and the black eight-petaled lotus oil lamp weren’t damaged, then why couldn’t he sense any magic element power from them? Logically, all magical equipment should exhibit some sort of elemental fluctuation!
If these items weren’t magical equipment, then how did they emit those multicolored lightning flashes?
Could it be that the Desert Civilization had already created technology that rivaled magic?
When Liu Shock thought of this, he couldn’t help but shudder with fear. The war had just begun, and a Desert Kingdom had already presented such a plethora of innovative armaments. How much more could the Beamon bandits surprise him as the battle continued? What hope did the kingdom have of rescuing the princess, and plundering mines and craftsmen from here?
Master Liu listed the foes he had fought in the past——the Aegean Humans had invented the Golem Legion; the mages of the Silk Continent had created the Chaidai Golden Man; even the Drow Elves used genetic hybridization to create a powerful race; and the grand Goblin Civilization had invented airships, Mechanical Gao Cens, and other weapons ten thousand years ago.
And now a new contender had emerged from the Desert Kingdom with the "Tower of Light’s Wish" and the mysterious gloves and oil lamp that emitted multicolored lightning!
And what of Beamon?
They had relied on their formidable physical strength ten thousand years ago, and they still relied on it, the only change being their bronze weapons had been swapped for steel.
Beamon was thriving ten thousand years ago, with four strong clans, making them the dominators of the Aegean Continent; however, the strong races within the contemporary Bimon Kingdom had drastically declined, revealing the adverse consequences of relying solely on physical prowess——the Haos clan archers had been spectacular in the Transverse Mountain Range battle, but what if they faced the Aegean Humans? A single volley fire from the enemy’s heavy crossbows could decimate a hundred of their elite archers!
After returning to the Yale Oasis, Liu Shock constantly pondered what caused such a significant disparity between Beamon and other intelligent races.
The answer he arrived at was education——only the nobles in Beamon received education; the commoners were almost entirely illiterate. He thought about the Tauren craftsmen under his command, who couldn’t even fully recognize the graduations on a sundial or the precise dimensions of an external micrometer, let alone produce fine armor or more complex magical equipment.
The issue of cultural proliferation was beyond the scope of Liu Shock’s abilities; trying to change the existing educational foundation of the entire kingdom by himself was like a fool’s dream. Understanding this, he could only heave a deep sigh.
After mulling over these troublesome thoughts, Liu Shock suddenly realized that ever since he had become a priest and inherited some profound cultural knowledge, he seemed to be increasingly prone to daydream and even started to worry about the country and its people, experiencing delusions.
"Ha ha... I must be sick!" Liu Shock said contentedly as he lay down in a pool of clear water, scolding himself.
After the main forces had departed, only towering stacks of supplies remained in the entire Yale Oasis. The Turun coalition had left two companies to guard, and their primary duty was to watch over the captured Shele slaves and desert Beamons, as well as care for the more than two hundred injured Taurens.
In terms of defense, the threat wasn’t considered significant. After Prince Kahn’s widespread scouting, there were no Mulan military troops in the vicinity. The only concern was the enemy’s Vulture Air Force.
Liu Shock absolutely couldn’t afford to neglect this Vulture Air Force. If it weren’t for swiftly deploying the Mirror Cannon into the azure skies as a weapon, the Feilengcui Air Force would have lost more than just thirteen Two-Headed Chimaeras; given their snail-like flying speed, how could they stand a chance against the swift, gazelle-like Vulture Cavaliers?
Both were from the Bode clan; comparing the Eagle-Bull people in the hands of fallen Elves to these Vulture Cavaliers was like comparing garbage! The Vulture People were definitely on par with the Goliath clan’s Harpies and Biao warriors, the elite of the air forces, and paired with that very effective multicolored lightning attack, probably only the ancient Gryphon Air Cavalry and Dragon Knights, who had vanquished the Harpies, could take them down.
The lingering glance of disdain from the Vulture People, as they departed, gave Liu a solid reason to believe that these folks were definitely not the amiable type! That kind of look was possessed only by the most venomous and vengeful desperadoes, who were also those most unwilling to tolerate failure and setbacks!
Given the right opportunity, these desperadoes would undoubtedly seize the chance for revenge.
Speaking of being cautious, Liu was not much less so than Prince Kahn!
He had transferred two hundred Elven archers from the Fierce Tiger Mercenary Corps to assist in the defense within the oasis and relocated all six War Ancient Trees to Yale Oasis. With twenty-meter tall War Ancient Trees serving as lookout platforms and seized bronze lookouts aiding observation, Liu had given the Vulture People ample consideration.
The fiery sunshine pierced through the palm and date tree tops, delicately casting a jagged brilliance on the lake water. A cigar and a glass of chilled exquisite wine made Liu’s days leisurely and carefree.
The main forces had set out yesterday, and today was exactly the sixth day—the day Joan of Arc was worried about according to Master Puskas’s prophecy, and indeed the day she would conceive Liu’s child.
Helen, with a deep-seated vengeance to fulfill, could hardly wait to exact her revenge and had already departed with the main army yesterday. Now, the only ones remaining with Liu in Yale Oasis were a group of air troopers, six personal guards, four Chekin priests, and the Elven Mage Tang Ning. Honestly, Liu had intended for Joan of Arc to accompany Helen to the heart of the desert with the main army, which would have discredited Master Puskas’s prophecy — with the two apart, conceiving a child would indeed be a spectacle as miraculous as seeing a ghost!
However, since he had already shared this absurd pregnancy prophecy as a joke with Helen and Moer, his decision to let Joan of Arc also depart with the forces had caused Helen and Moer to tease him relentlessly. Helen said he was acting like a guilty thief, Moer accused him of premeditated plans, and both badgered Liu until he stubbornly decided to keep Joan of Arc by his side!
Last night passed without incident, except for a Fire-Eyed Suan Ni, which had escaped during the conquest of Yale Oasis, returning to the oasis dusty and thirsty from the endless desert. Nothing else happened; all was calm and steady.
According to the schedule, by this evening, the Cambridge Convoy escorting the logistics would arrive at the oasis. This meant Liu could comfortably catch up with the main forces after one more night in Yale Oasis, thoroughly reassuring him—what vulture people, what pregnancy prophecy, sheer unnecessary worries.
Because of this, he could relax fully and take a bath in the lake of the oasis.
The Gortani sisters lay under a sunshade on the shore, enviously watching the Shaman of Divine Songs lying in the shade in the middle of the lake. This bearded dignitary was lounging on a golden-yellow fish-leather air mattress.
The lightly bobbing fish-leather air mattress held a large glass fruit bowl and a horseshoe-shaped wine jug. The dignitary held a languidly smoking cigar in his mouth and swayed a glass of rum in his hand, the cool liquor beaded with droplets on the glass.
Liu was dressed only in fish-leather shorts today, his rock-like sinewy muscles exposed since his nose had mostly healed, and his punk long hair added a touch of sinister ruggedness and wildness to his appearance.
A group of beautiful, frolicsome Butterfly Maids were not far from him in the lake, displaying their lotus-like arms. The scattered golden sunlight sprinkled down, erupting into a watery and lustrous allure.
Liu indeed had some tricks; aside from the six thin-skinned Elven maids, the Butterfly Maids, Medusa Maids, and the two Rabbit Beauties were all lured into the water to join him. Even the little Nun Joan of Arc and Qian Qian were not exempted.
Golinny steadfastly believed that this situation must be due to the coercion of power.
