Chapter 1074: Chapter 278: An Undesirable Victory_3

"Oh?" Liu Zhenhan became a bit interested, "Are any of those round-headed lions left? And what about the cobras, are there any left?"

"None, they were all torn apart by Your Majesty’s mastiffs," before Captain Vincent Carter could reply, the Wart Hog Captain at his side shook his head. "There were a few cobras coiled up there; although the mastiffs couldn’t deal with them, later, they were all shot dead by your Divine Archers under your command."

"Let’s keep the snake slaves and lion tamers to show Prince Kahn our catch later. I have no use for these fellows," Liu Zhenhan contemplated and then inquired to the two Antelope captains, "What about you? A lot of the camel cavalry escaped. Did you capture any?"

"I didn’t chase after them," the face of the Antelope Heavy Cavalry Captain, Youin, flushed deeply with embarrassment, "I chased them for half a mile. The antelopes couldn’t keep up, so I returned."

"Antelopes and mammoths aren’t beasts suited for long-distance pursuits. It was a futile chase. Why couldn’t you understand that?" Liu Zhenhan sighed.

"Our Chimaera Air Cavalry and Newton Air Cavalry pursued them for about thirty miles together, but it was too hot. The Two-Headed Chimaera is too bulky, so I withdrew first. The endurance of the Newton Giant Birds is better than our Chimaeras, so Captain Ardu continued the pursuit with the Newton Air Cavalry. Not many of those camel cavalry should have escaped," Wallace, the captain of the Chimaera Air Cavalry, wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Your Majesty, may we now send a message to the legion commanders?" General Reyes asked cautiously.

"Send it! Let them draw near as quickly as possible. From the tone of that imam earlier, the enemy seems to have a formidable general," Liu Zhenhan thought for a moment, then continued, "Leave one Griffin Cavalry. Have her fly toward the northern desert tomorrow to scout. If there are no enemy troops within a three-hundred-mile radius, we will first exterminate the nearby snake-men and scorpion-men. If there are, then we need to prepare for battle. Alright, all officers may go about their business. Meeting dismissed!"

"Our strength has almost been completely exposed," Helen sighed once all the officers had left.

"The quota for the Summer Palace Guard is even with the Palace Guard. I have the money to maintain twenty brigades, and no one dares to control it!" Liu Zhenhan started with pride but then softened, "Obischillaci! It’s still not enough. What a crappy Summer Palace Guard. One thousand one hundred and fifty-six Antelope Infantry and four hundred and thirty-nine Antelope Cavalry are still wearing rattan armor. When will I be able to equip them with full heavy armor?"

"The Arms Factory needs to produce Mechanical Gao Cen and create ’Yukul Chain Type Battle Armor’ for the cavalry, as well as more than a thousand sets of full body armor. The workload is too heavy, and your demands are too high. Why insist on uniform Crown Thorns Armor, even if they are imitations?" Helen couldn’t help but reprimand, "Although it is a forged version of the Crown Thorns Armor, it still takes too much time."

"No! It has to be uniform armor, otherwise, I’ll be just a mix-match mess." Liu Zhenhan shook his head.

"What about the one hundred and fifty Dragon people? When are they arriving? We are severely lacking archers right now!" Moer frowned, "If we had an extra hundred Divine Archers today, we probably could have had zero casualties."

"Soon. When I was traveling to Cambridge Oasis, I sent a flame message to Ibrahim; he said they’ve already set off. We’ve been in the desert for more than a month, haven’t we?" Liu Zhenhan let out a long sigh, "Moer, you shouldn’t measure those Dragon people archers by Nedved’s standards. Actually, I made a mistake this time. We should have brought the Fierce Tiger Mercenary Corps as well. Although they are our second-line troops, they do have two hundred Forest Elves archers."

"This time when we return, we must recruit the Divine Archer Philosophers no matter what! Without them, our structure will always have a huge flaw!" Moer nodded firmly.

"Now that we have acquired twelve ’Tower of Light’s Wish,’ when shall we pick twelve courageous young men to become the Mirror Cannon operators?" Liu Zhenhan laughed heartily.

"Speak of the Mirror Cannon, and it appears!" Bellamy laughed heartily as he flipped open the pearl curtain of the tent door, with Guoguo following behind him, a huge glass Tower Crown on her head, with a small parrot perched on top, waddling in.

"Damn fool! Wastrel! I had just gotten it, my ass hadn’t even warmed it yet, and you took it off? What if it was damaged?" Liu was extremely distressed, picking up a pomegranate, ready to throw it at Bellamy.

"No worries, the Mirror Cannon was just stuck in a groove, it’s detachable. How else would the Mulanese transport it? It’s mounted on the tower column primarily to absorb light and, secondly, to be in a commanding position to increase range and coverage. Actually, it can still fire when taken down but only up to three hundred yards, and its killing power won’t cover as wide as ten yards. I’ve consulted knowledgeable slaves about this," Bellamy pouted. "The guys are ready to dismantle it, and then we’ll transport it back to Emerald, making it a city’s treasure along with the War Ancient Tree."

"Oh? It can still fire when taken off?" Liu, intrigued, removed the glass Tower Crown from Guoguo’s head and held it in his hands for a closer look. The device resembled a long rectangular box, somewhat like a coffin, with clear glass mirrors on the front, back, and both sides, and steel plates forged from Uzi steel on the top and bottom. The base was covered with fascinating talismans, and inside the Mirror Cannon, a transparent gemstone floated in the middle, with strands of light like flowing mercury occasionally sprinkling down from the steel top, seeping into the clear gem.

Liu examined closely, and as it turned out, the steel top was embedded with a row of neatly arranged gems, which sparkled like stars. Indeed, the silvery flowing light streamed down from these gems into the floating gemstone.

"This is the ’Morning Star Gem.’ According to the slaves, the Mirror Cannon gathers sunlight and moonlight through the talismans inscribed on the tower column, concentrating it into the ’Morning Star Gem.’ It takes four hours during the day or eight hours at night to fully charge a gemstone, which then allows for a single firing of the Mirror Cannon." Seeing Mirror Cannon surrounded by curious onlookers, Bellamy couldn’t help showing off, "This thing is a product of Mulan Empire’s exclusive casting technology, impressive, right?"

"That’s a bit too few though, isn’t it?" Nedved counted the gems on top, only twenty-four in total. "How many times can this thing fire?"

"Not bad, not bad." Liu stroked the oblique steel handles extending from the base of the Mirror Cannon, discovering that the handles even had non-slip textures, which he found quite satisfying. Each handle had a turquoise button—clearly the triggers for firing. Liu thought this design was very user-friendly, especially for someone with a disability like him.

"No wonder it required concentrated fire to take down a Griffin Knight. This thing’s accuracy is really uncontrollable." Helen squinted her beautiful eyes through the front mirror, watching Liu, who had his face up against the back mirror. Both found it quite amusing as the other’s face suddenly appeared huge. Guoguo also squeezed her head next to Helen’s, causing Liu to jump when he suddenly saw a pair of huge, spinning eyeballs.

"I have an idea, get a pen and a ruler, divide it into halves, draw a black line crosswise, and where the lines intersect I’ll mark a Gold Coins circle. From now on, whoever we’re firing at, just aim using that circle," Liu chuckled, finding the idea of adding an aiming line to the gadget somewhat comedic.

"This is inherently an area-effect weapon, precision isn’t important," Moer tapped the glass mirror several times with her finger, feeling its sturdiness.

Liu, looking at this device, was once again reminded of past events.

If today’s Mirror Cannon operators also had crescent moon-shaped steel plates, could Nedved’s Divine Archer complete their sniping tasks swiftly without damaging the prism? Thinking of this, Liu couldn’t help laughing. Regardless of others, fitting a crescent steel plate wasn’t difficult; he could just do it himself.

Perhaps it would be good to let the Mulanese taste their own medicine. Liu secretly made up his mind.
