Chapter 1004: Chapter 251: From Now On, Mulang Is a Stranger

"If Jose is born, what should Richard do next?" ----------------- A famous proverb by Aegean.

Liu was shocked; he had not expected that a plot he thought was foolproof would be so easily exposed by the very person involved. Kidnapping someone else’s son to raise as his own was morally and ethically despicable to the extreme. The sudden revelation nearly shattered Liu’s moral foundation. Although he had repeatedly persuaded himself with numerous satisfactory reasons, when the truth was laid bare, he felt utterly disgraced. It was not because of Mourinho’s words but because he could not overcome his own conscience.

"I’m not being unreasonable! I know that without your Blood Magic, my children would never have been born alive, as they were nearly lifeless prematures; I know you almost died trying to incubate them. I have consulted with Prince Moore about the dangers of incubating twin Blood Infants—I fully understand! Guoguo and I may have learned all this a bit late, but that doesn’t mean we are fools! Do you really think we can’t tell the difference between a Chimaera egg and a Phoenix egg?" Mourinho fought back tears, his teeth clenched as he stared at Liu, "Guoguo and I have to thank you, because you saved two fragile lives that belonged to us, which should have perished, and nearly died doing so! But I’m telling you! If it weren’t for that reason, you would have been dead by my hand long ago! Do you know why, no matter what, Guoguo always helps you over and over again? Even when it’s dangerous, she’s not afraid. What do you think she’s doing? Isn’t it just an excuse to bring the children back to her side for a glance? Isn’t it to atone for her own inadequacies as a mother? Curse it! You erased all the children’s memories, filled them with new knowledge; do you think that can sever a mother’s inherent bond with her children? Do you know how many nights Guoguo wakes from her dreams crying, worried about the safety of the children?"

"You are a butcher! Even though you saved my two children, preventing them from vanishing into the wind, I hate you even more! I hate you! Because you were not acting out of compassion; you just wanted two powerful weapons for war! I hate you, you stole my sons!" Mourinho grew increasingly agitated, "I am risking it all today, now that I have said all this, today it will either be you who dies or me! Let’s end this once and for all!"

As he finished speaking, the Swan Priest folded his wings in one swift motion, generating a strong gust of wind as he lunged toward the petrified Liu. His wings evidently had also been fortified by the "Secret Method of Grand Seal" potion, his martial skills being no less than his injured arms. Dragging them along the ground paved with terrazzo, the surface was gouged with deep feather traces, the prised stones exploding like bolts shot from a strong crossbow.

In this split-second interval, without thinking, the Crane Beak Sword "swooshed" out of its scabbard, emitting a chill as it aimed straight at the Swan Priest’s forehead. He struck at the enemy, hoping to alleviate some pressure on his bewildered boss in this crisis. Yet Mourinho, a true battle fiend, completely ignored the lethal attack of the sword. With a cross swipe of his wings, like scissors cutting through the spring breeze of February, he whipped up a gust of wind aiming directly at Liu’s head. If hit by these wings, forged by the Secret Method, Liu’s neck would likely be severed, even if it were made of steel.

At this moment, Liu was still dazed, his gaze unfocused.

In the end, the Crane Beak Sword could not bring itself to strike, mainly out of reluctance. This moment of hesitation was deeply regretted by its wielder, for even another strike might not be timely enough, as Liu’s Magic Shield could in no way intercept such a high-intensity physical attack at close range.

A fascist-style helmet solidly struck the Swan Priest’s chest, the unstoppable force flipping Mourinho’s body into the air. His sharp wings missed Liu’s throat by merely half an inch. The sword’s light shifted and scattered a circle of blade shadows, slicing off a small cluster of flying feathers.

Guoguo still maintained a throwing stance, her small face flushed with a surge of red.

The enraged Swan Priest landed and then sprang up with a fling of his wings, his arms rubbing together with a "crack," ripping his sleeves and producing a clashing sound reminiscent of iron clanks. Twisting his waist, he readied to surge forward once more.

A massive bubble suddenly engulfed him, rapidly tightening, and stilled all his rage within it.

"I didn’t expect... I didn’t expect..." Master Puskas shook his head spasmodically, muttering in grief, "How could this happen? How could it possibly be?"

"Damn!" Liu lifted his head, his eyes filled with confusion and wandering, yet showing no signs of retreat nor avoidance.
