Chapter 191: Chapter 191: You drive me mad.
Trevor’s thumb lingered against Lucas’s jaw, the weight of his words still hanging heavy in the room.
He set the book aside fully this time, letting it slide onto the nightstand with a soft thud. Then he reached up, caught Trevor’s wrist still hovering near his face, and tugged.
Trevor’s brows lifted at the sudden pull, caught off guard by the quickness of it. His balance shifted instinctively, the mattress dipping beneath his weight as he let himself be drawn closer.
Lucas didn’t say a word. Mischief glimmered bright in those green eyes, a deliberate spark that cut through the storm-dark mood Trevor had wrapped around himself.
"Lucas..." Trevor began, his voice low, uncertain whether it was a warning or a plea.
But Lucas had already closed the distance, pulling him down until their foreheads brushed and Trevor could feel the warmth of his breath. "You think too much," Lucas murmured, fingers sliding to cup the side of Trevor’s neck. "Stop."
Trevor’s mouth opened, another retort, maybe another promise of retribution, but Lucas silenced it the only way that would work. He pulled him the final inch and kissed him.
It was intentional, tasting faintly of wine and defiance, a kiss meant to burn through whatever darkness Trevor was carrying. The alpha froze for only a heartbeat before his hand splayed against Lucas’s back, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss, hungry for the warmth of his mate.
Lucas shifted just enough to angle the kiss deeper, his fingers threading into Trevor’s still‑damp hair. A soft sound escaped him, something caught between relief and claim. The tension that had coiled in the room bled away in the press of lips, in the warmth of Trevor’s hand sliding up his spine.
When they finally broke for air, Trevor rested his forehead against Lucas’s, his breathing uneven, violet‑dark eyes heavy with something rawer than anger. "You do that," he murmured, voice rough, "and I forget every name, every face, every reason I wanted blood."
Lucas’s thumb brushed Trevor’s cheek, a soft, teasing stroke. "Exactly the point," he whispered back. "You’re better when you’re thinking about me instead of murder."
Trevor let out a low laugh, more of a growl in his chest than amusement, and kissed him again, slower this time, as if memorizing the taste. His hand tightened at Lucas’s waist, pulling him into his lap with ease, the blanket slipping somewhere onto the floor.
"Now, are you ready to pay the price of your distraction?" Trevor broke the kiss again, his hands already slipping under Lucas’s shirt.
Lucas blinked down at him, lips still parted, cheeks flushed from the heat of the kiss. A spark lit in his eyes, mischief and challenge, perfectly blended.
"Oh?" he murmured, fingers still tangled in Trevor’s damp hair. "And what price would that be?"
Trevor’s hands slid higher beneath the thin fabric, palms warm against Lucas’s skin, drawing a shiver from him. His voice dropped, low and velvet‑rough, brushing against Lucas’s throat.
"The price," Trevor said slowly, "of making me forget everything I was planning... of making me want nothing but you."
Lucas tilted his head, letting Trevor’s mouth brush his jawline, his own hands slipping from Trevor’s hair to his shoulders, nails grazing just enough to make Trevor’s breath catch. "Hmm," Lucas whispered, lips brushing the shell of Trevor’s ear now, "that sounds expensive."
Trevor’s answering laugh was dark, soft, a rumble against Lucas’s collarbone as he kissed there, slow and claiming. "You have all life to pay it."
Lucas felt the words against his skin before he fully processed them, Trevor’s voice a low vibration at the hollow of his collarbone.
He shivered, his fingers curling tighter in Trevor’s hair as if to anchor himself. "All my life?" Lucas echoed, his own voice dropping, teasing but touched with something softer, something almost reverent.
Trevor lifted his head just enough for Lucas to see the faint smile cutting through the storm in his eyes. "Every breath," Trevor said simply, his thumb brushing along the line of Lucas’s ribs beneath the shirt. "Every day you let me have you." f.(r)eew ebnov\ll.com
Lucas’s heartbeat thudded, traitorously loud in the quiet room. He tilted his head back, letting out a low laugh that trembled just slightly at the edges. "Careful," he murmured, his lips curving as he looked down at Trevor. "I might hold you to that."
Trevor’s hand slid higher up his back, drawing him even closer until Lucas’s knees tightened around his hips. "Good," Trevor said, kissing the corner of his mouth, slow and light, dark, warm pheromones starting to embrace Lucas.
Lucas leaned his head back, leaving his neck exposed to the soft, fluttering touch of Trevor’s lips.
Trevor’s breath ghosted over Lucas’s skin as his lips brushed the curve of his throat, lingering there like a silent vow.
Lucas felt the faint tremor of it, the restrained hunger threading through the alpha’s touch, as Trevor’s fingers flexed at his waist, anchoring him closer.
The warm pull of Trevor’s pheromones settled heavier now, like incense smoke in the air, seeping into Lucas’s senses. It wasn’t overwhelming; it was coaxing and steady, coaxing him to melt, to give. Lucas’s eyes fluttered closed, a shiver running down his spine as Trevor’s lips traced a slow path just beneath his jaw.
"You drive me mad," Trevor murmured against his skin, voice low enough to vibrate against the pulse in Lucas’s throat.
Lucas’s hand tightened in Trevor’s damp hair, his head tilting further back in quiet surrender. "That’s mutual," he breathed, the words breaking on a soft gasp when Trevor’s teeth grazed the hollow at the base of his neck.
Trevor’s grip slid lower, palms flattening against Lucas’s back as he drew him in until there was no space left between them. "Every day," Trevor whispered, lips brushing the sensitive spot just above his collarbone, "you give me another reason not to let you go."
Lucas’s heartbeat thundered in his ears. His knees tightened around Trevor’s hips, pulling him closer still. "Then don’t," he whispered, his voice barely more than a breath.
