Chapter 165: Chapter 100 Authority Freeze, Damp Jungle_2

Ronan’s face showed no significant change in expression; this was something he had anticipated.

In fact, Ronan had only learned a month ago that a Magic Ring Wizard could submit a request for "retreat protection" to the Magic Ring.

The maximum protection time could reach three years, during which no tasks need to be executed, and there would be no punishment.

He tried applying, but it was immediately rejected without reason.

After the "demotion" notice, the remaining messages were also much of the same—[Your potion commission has been canceled!][Sorry, your rune commission request was not approved.]...

Ronan went through all the messages one by one, feeling no disturbance in his heart.

Normally, as a core member of the Magic Ring, he would enjoy a series of privileges including the purchase of potions, Rune Stones, commissioning for the forging of Magic Tools, enchantment commissions, and so on.

Whether it was buying things or carrying out purchases, he would enjoy certain discounts within the Magic Ring.

However, now these "privileges" have been invariably "frozen," and due to his failure to complete the minimum monthly tasks, he didn’t even have the basic welfare of ten Advanced Magic Stones every month that every official member of the Magic Ring is entitled to.

Apart from the status of an official Magic Ring member, he didn’t enjoy any of the conveniences and benefits he should have, almost no different than when he was wandering before.

He now suddenly understood why Benny might have offered him the Metal Magic inheritance of the First and Second Rank directly before; perhaps Benny had anticipated that he would face this situation.

Some within the Magic Ring, who stand above the rules, are manipulating the rules, trying to make him submit.

"So, it’s all the more reason to take up this mission."

Ronan took a sip of hot tea, recalling the mission that Benny had mentioned to him earlier.

The importance of the Brain-eating Flower for the improvement of his cultivation was just one part; the mission itself was also rather rare, an open task of the Seventh Ring that Travis and others couldn’t tamper with.

If completed, he could gain a precious "breather."

Knock knock knock—

Polite knocking came from outside the door, followed by Alida’s voice.

"Sir, do you have anything to send out today? The messenger will be leaving at three o’clock."

Ronan slightly lifted his head, "No need, thank you, Alida."

"Alright, Sir, have a nice day."

Alida’s footsteps receded from the doorway, and Ronan couldn’t help but shake his head with a chuckle, aware that she was probably looking to earn a tip from him again.

When in a tight spot, one always subconsciously seeks something to rely on, and loneliness often stirs up yearning.

Ronan was no exception.

During his free time recently, he had written letters to Old Wells, Vinicia, and family members in the Earl’s Domain far across many seas.

Calculating the time since he parted ways with Old Wells and the others, it had been more than half a year; Ronan knew only that they had gone to a place called Qifeng Port and had no idea how they were doing now.

Collecting his thoughts, Ronan opened his character panel.

[Name: Ronan Damien]

High Energy Crucible (Proficiency 54/200)

...]

Two months of time, through pure meditation, his strength progress increased by 1%.

This pace, when compared to an ordinary Level 1 Wizard, was neither fast nor too slow. At this rate, he would probably need three years to enter the Late Level 1 Stage, and it would take nine years to reach the threshold to advance to a Second-Level Wizard.

[Particle Torrent], [Power of Break Magic], and [Absolute Frost Seal], the three extraordinary powers of the Extraordinary Magic Realm, had made steady progress. Without expending a great deal of effort, they could generally see a proficiency increase of several dozen points, with which Ronan was already very satisfied.

The most significant improvement was naturally in the devoutly practiced [Ascetic Body Refinement]; in two months, the proficiency had increased by a full one hundred and fifty points!

It seemed like there was a rush to make up for the previous lag in progress all at once.

At this point, the white light ball inside Ronan’s body had grown from the size of a fist to three fists, an expansion of several times.

It brought to Ronan a more surging and majestic vitality.

Nourished by this vitality, it felt as if there lay a dormant volcano within him, ready to erupt at any moment.

With the burning of life force, following the activation of [Pure Body], it seemed like his physical power could grow without any limit, it was simply immeasurable with any specific number.

Of course, the greatest enhancement was the physical defense of [Pure Body]. He had gone from initially withstanding Low Zero Rank Level Magic unharmed, to Intermediate Zero Rank, and now to Advanced Zero Rank, with a significant increase in ability in terms of Elemental Resistance.

If one were to observe Ronan’s skin closely, they would notice an extremely thin, transparent layer of keratin naturally formed from countless spells’ bombardment.

Behind this series of huge enhancements of his physique was Ronan’s absolute disregard for the cost of Potion consumption.

Over these two months, he almost drank First Rank Healing Potions like water, just for the bit of vital force contained within that could quickly replenish the energy of the light ball inside his body.

At the end of the two months, Ronan’s savings had almost been exhausted. Rummaging through his Waist Storage Bag, except for some essential and unsellable items, the rest estimated to be valued less than ten Advanced Magic Stones.

This was a far cry from the splendor of possessing a thousand Advanced Magic Stones.

"Body Forging to a deeper level is indeed a bottomless pit of resources..."

Ronan couldn’t help but sigh. If he hadn’t been obstructed by Travis and others, he could have bought Healing Potions through the internal platform of the Magic Ring, which would probably cost him less.

Also, because of practicing [Ascetic Body Refinement], Ronan had nearly perfected all the Low Zero Rank Level Elemental Magic he could find, almost all of which he had practiced to beyond Master Level.

As a focus, the Ice Magic [Frost Ray] at Intermediate Zero Rank had already been promoted to Expert Level. It was estimated that it would only take one or two months to break through to Master, but since he had never tried to rush to Master Level with spells beyond Low Zero Rank Level Magic before, he was a bit uncertain about the time frame.

"Once [Frost Ray] also derives the power of the Extraordinary Magic Realm, that’ll be when the ’Despair Domain’ undergoes a true transformation. I wonder what it will look like..."

Thinking about this, Ronan gently closed the panel and stood up to walk into the small Cultivation Room inside.

Picking up a blank rune stone from the experiment table and casually engraving it, for Ronan today, rune engraving was no longer a livelihood skill but more for leisure boredom, as well as a unique way to calm his mind.

.....

"Please register this task for me."

The next morning, in the Seventh Magic Ring task hall, Ronan stood in front of a task window, pointing to a particularly conspicuous task in the task booklet.

As a public trial task of the Seventh Magic Rings, it would usually be "pinned", and Ronan easily found the "Brain-eating Flower" task mentioned by Benny.

Of course, there wasn’t the slightest mention of "Brain-eating Flowers" in the task; on the surface, it was just an encouragement for Magic Ring Wizards to explore a Secret Realm Space called "Damp Jungle".

Only Wizards privy to insider information knew that rare Magic Potion Brain-eating Flowers existed within this "Damp Jungle".

"It’s done, go outside and wait. An airship will take you over soon."

After the task registration was complete, the wizard inside the window passed a white rune stone to Ronan, serving as a token for this task and also the key to enter the "Damp Jungle" Secret Realm Space.

Without accepting the task, Ronan would have no way to bypass the Magic Ring and enter "Damp Jungle". Undertaking unauthorized exploration of a claimed Secret Realm is a serious violation of the rules in the entire Wizard World.

As Ronan left the task hall with his token, he habitually surveyed the various task windows. This time, he did not see the female wizard with the green short hair.

He composed himself and stood quietly outside the task hall, waiting along with a few other wizards whose strength wasn’t high, about Intermediate Level 1 Stage like himself, and their status was also that of ordinary Magic Ring members.

After waiting for a while, a young wizard with an identity marker of First Ring core membership on his robes arrived, emanating spirit power fluctuations of Late Level 1 Stage.

Several Intermediate Level 1 Stage wizards who were waiting with Ronan immediately gathered around the new arrival, seemingly well-integrated as if they had arranged it in advance.

Then, a person from the small group opposite came out to ask if Ronan wanted to join them.
