Chapter 142: Chapter 90 Benny, why didn’t you tell me we have guests to entertain today
Benny retreated to the moss-covered stone steps at the doorway of the house and, at the same time as the explosion occurred, pushed off with his feet, rapidly charging toward the other side of the courtyard.
His attempted escape trajectory and the several silhouettes vaguely emerging from the dust formed a nearly right-angled ninety degrees, perfectly avoiding them.
However, Benny was abruptly blocked by an invisible wall of air just as he was about to rush out of the courtyard.
"Bang!"
Benny was repelled backward two steps by the rebounding force from the air wall, furrowing his brow, but before he could try to break through the invisible barrier in front of him, he saw a flurry of runic glimmer falling from above.
Streams of twisted rune light, like numerous multi-colored tadpoles, undulated their tails as they poured down like a waterfall.
In less than a breath’s time, the originally invisible air wall had already taken on a state resembling a crystal construction.
The entire small courtyard was firmly covered by an inverted bowl-shaped crystal wall, sealed tight and obscuring the view outside, with the surface of the crystal shimmering with dense, glowing rune patterns.
"Tap— Tap—"
The sound of footsteps neared from the entrance of the courtyard.
Within the dissipating dust, several silhouettes slowly took form.
Uniform silver robes, glowing protective energy shields, and likewise young yet icy-cold faces within the shields.
"The original intention of Lord Travis was to have a proper talk with you, as long as you cooperated by handing over the Magic Nightmare Tungsten Steel...."
Among the group, the leader, possessing slender fingers and a well-proportioned figure, exuded a noble’s arrogant complacency.
He lowered his right hand, which had been covering his mouth and nose, and with a disgusted look on his face, stirred the air to blow away non-existent dust from his front, his rare agate-colored eyes coldly settled on Benny, emitting a chilling voice.
"But now, I think that’s no longer necessary."
While speaking, he released his own vibrations of spiritual power.
The powerful spiritual field almost twisted the surrounding air into block-shaped condensation marks.
This was a true indication of a Level 1 Wizard on the verge of stepping into Level 2, as his liquid spiritual power was about to condense and transform into a crystal state.
The strength of several people behind the young man was almost the same, except for a pale-faced young man who was being supported by his companions and frantically pouring a Healing Potion into his mouth; the rest were only slightly inferior to the young man.
Benny squinted his eyes, sizing up this group of "emerging talents," took a deep breath, and then let out a long puff of white smoke.
In the next second, the pipe he had been clenching in his mouth shot out like a bird, piercing through the smoke ring, and exploded in front of the group in the blink of an eye.
"Rip—"
The agate-eyed youth at the lead had already raised his hand to make a sweeping motion in front of him the moment the pipe was launched.
As his fingertips grazed the air, they made a sound like tearing steel, and out of thin air a fiery red line ablaze in the void came to life.
The temperature of this flame line far exceeded that of ordinary Magical Flames and seemed to be created by the scorching of metal.
The explosive power generated by the black pipe was completely blocked by the fire line, and the red flame waves that rolled up from the fire line counterattacked, like a twisted monster, spewing hot breath as it lunged straight down at Benny.
"Boom!"
A surging wave of flames was split open by an invisible force, and only wearing a simple floral-collar white shirt, Benny appeared behind the flames, standing straight with an invisible aura dispersing around him. The black hiltless Heavy Sword, which had almost singlehandedly killed one of the group earlier, reappeared and hovered above his head, domineering and grim.
The setting sun’s afterglow fell on Benny’s left cheek, where a metal rust-like festering wound was visible. With an indifferent expression, he resembled an injured and aging lion king; though his body was festering and teeming with maggots, when he braced himself, one could still glimpse the impressive majesty of the once formidable ruler.
"Burning steel isn’t supposed to be used like that..."
Benny remarked indifferently, then raised his right hand, making almost the exact motion that the agate-eyed youth had done before.
In an instant, the black hiltless Heavy Sword above his head disappeared, and the face of the agate-eyed youth in front of him changed slightly, subconsciously raising his hands.
"Boom!"
"Crack— Crunch—"
A huge crimson metal Round Shield appeared in front of the youth, emitting a sound of being on the verge of shattering. The black hiltless Heavy Sword flashed and returned to Benny’s side.
The fragments of molten metal clattered down, revealing the somewhat unsightly face of the youth.
"Attack!"
The youth’s low shout prompted his companions to immediately spring into action, with the hurried chanting of spells resounding on-site.
Benny, with an unflustered face, stepped out and appeared near the group in a ghostly fashion.
"Swoosh—"
He made a vertical chopping gesture, and the black hiltless Heavy Sword slashed from the air, kicking up an imposing wind pressure.
The agate-eyed youth’s mouth moved quickly, rune patterns lit up on both sides of his cheeks, and he raised his hands in a lifting motion, as a black and red shadow darted from beneath the Silver Robe, instantly forming a black axe with an exaggerated design in front of him.
The axe head burned with intense flames, its blade translucent red as if just removed from a blacksmith’s furnace.
The fiery axe collided straightforwardly with the hiltless Heavy Sword...
"Bang!"
A blunt and heavy sound of impact echoed as the compressed Energy Particles from the collision dispersed into invisible ripples. Benny let out a muffled groan, his robust body seemingly trembling slightly, but quickly stabilized. Without any hesitation, as the hiltless Heavy Sword was knocked flying by the fiery axe in an instant, he stepped on the residual wave and executed an upward sword lifting motion towards the front.
