Chapter 129: Chapter 84 Benny, Turning Point and Surprise_2
Because the left side of his face, half of his chin, and the skin on his neck were all covered with large patches of rust-like ulcerations.
The man’s eyes were light gold, coldly looking at Ronan with a gaze full of intense scrutiny, nothing like that of someone intending to entertain guests.
Of course, after the "welcome ceremony" upon entering, Ronan had no desire to develop any relationship beyond the task at hand with the other party.
"I’ve taken on the task you posted, Mr. Benny."
Ronan spoke coldly, quickly glancing behind the man, faintly discerning a large rectangular box seemingly placed there.
"I know."
The man’s voice was cold, "Otherwise, you would have already died under my spell for trespassing."
Ronan frowned, but did not speak.
At this moment, the man stood up from his high stool, his stature incredibly tall, almost half a head taller than Ronan.
He turned and swiftly walked to the long box behind the chair, impatiently urging Ronan in an irritated tone: "Hurry up, kid, I’ve been waiting for a long time."
Ronan leisurely walked over.
The man then gently pushed a piece of wood in his hand, emitting light from underneath.
It was then that Ronan, to his surprise, realized that what he thought was a long box, was actually a coffin.
A coffin entirely crafted from some special type of crystal.
It was densely engraved with various complex and arcane runes, many of which were active and some with obscure lights.
Through the pattern of the rune array, Ronan managed to make out that a woman was lying inside the crystal coffin.
She had blonde hair, wore a blue dress, and her skin was pale, almost with no signs of life fluctuations coming from it.
"Hurry up."
The man urged Ronan again, pointing his finger at a groove of a rune array on the crystal coffin which had stopped operating, and said, "Inject Ice Energy Particles into it with your spell, until this array is fully operational again... Hurry!"
The man appeared extremely impatient, as if any further delay was unbearable for him.
Ronan didn’t speak, following his instructions by gently placing his right hand on the specified rune array. Spiritual power surged, gathering Ice Energy Particles drifting in the room, and slowly channeling them into the rune array under Ronan’s control.
As the Energy Particles were injected, the gray rune array slowly lit up, icy chill began drifting in the crystal coffin making it hazy, and a thick layer of frost covered the body of the woman inside.
Ronan roughly estimated that this was a rune array that continuously emitted cold air and had the function to store Energy Particles. Once filled, it could maintain the emission for about a month and a half.
In fact, the operation of such a rune array could be powered by Magic Stones, but the effect would be significantly inferior to the pure infusion of Ice Energy Particles.
While Ronan was "charging" the rune array, he surreptitiously observed the man standing beside him.
It was evident that as the woman’s body in the crystal coffin was gradually covered by frost, the man’s anxiety gradually subsided.
The whole process seemed like a beast constantly on the edge of fury being continually soothed, becoming gradually tame.
The man’s eyes were fixed on the woman in the crystal coffin, his gaze becoming more and more gentle and relaxed; his lips slightly moved as if he was saying something to the woman inside the coffin, though Ronan couldn’t make out a single word...
Finally, after the entire energy infusion process was completed, Ronan gently retracted his hand, ceasing the flow of spiritual power.
"Done, Mr. Benny."
Ronan spoke, "Is there anything else I can help you with?"
The man referred to as Benny shook his head, merely tossing a small box towards Ronan nonchalantly, saying: "No need.
Your fundamental Ice Magic is very solid, much better than those I had hired before; those fellows always somehow damaged the runes on the array...
This is your payment, leave as soon as you can."
Ronan opened the box thrown to him by Benny, finding several Intermediate Magic Stones inside. He looked up and said, "The number and grade of the Magic Stones seem incorrect, Mr. Benny."
"The rest I will supply to you in a few days."
The man’s cold gaze fell on Ronan as he said icily, "As for now, please leave."
"I actually have a better suggestion..."
"Out!"
"Boom!"
The immense spiritual power of a Late Level 1 Stage Wizard suddenly erupted, but before it fully unleashed, it was suppressed by an even stronger force.
The collision of the two forces created a vortex of wild currents that made all the scattered decor in the basement rattle loudly.
At the center of this vortex, Ronan, whose body was imbued with numerous mysterious energies, clad in a flowing white robe and hair fluttering, stood enveloped by a torrent-like Magic Domain, calmly looking at the once again agitated man, speaking word by word: "Mr. Benny, can we now sit down and discuss this properly?"
The man stared at him in astonishment, and after a moment, his expression gradually calmed down.
...
"Helping me infuse the rune array just once and you think I’d vouch for your application to join the Magic Ring?"
Five minutes later, Benny reseated himself on his high stool, looking at Ronan with a cold laugh.
Ronan stood in front of him, correcting him, "Not just once, but continuously."
