Blood Nemesis
Chapter 189: Battle

Chapter 189: Battle

Gritting his teeth, Woojin transferred mana into his body to alleviate the pain.

After that, he looked at Oliver.

As if he did nothing worth mentioning, Oliver was standing straight just a few meters in front of him.

His cousins, noticing his predicament, raised their swords, ready to charge in at a moment’s notice.

"Don’t." Kim Woojin lifted his hand and stopped them, "I will deal with him."

Oliver was the brother of that kid. He wanted no one’s help to bestow punishment.

"Golden fiend, you asked for it." He turned to Oliver.

His eyes were spitting fire as a murderous aura enshrouded the training area.

"Come at me again if you dare."

He taunted.

"Don’t forget to use your abilities. I won’t be holding back."

Kim Woojin wore a nefarious smirk as he spoke.

Oliver, on the other hand, paid no attention to him.

Judging by the aura and the mana he felt during the surprise attack, Oliver had gauged Kim Woojin’s strength.

He was a half-baked C ranker.

At his age, being a C rank was normal. But being a C rank with all the resources the Kim family has at their disposal means that he was not very talented.

If the same resources were given to Leon, the teleportation ability user Oliver befriended, he would have already reached B rank.

Kim Woojin was older and still lower-ranked.

However, that doesn’t mean the battle that was about to ensue would be any easier.

Oliver had spent all the blood in his blood sac and had barely enough for two revivals.

That’s about 2000 litres.

When compared to the max storage capacity of 80,000 litres, it was nothing.

Converting the blood while keeping a backup of 1000 litres for revival would only give him 1000 units of mana.

Compared to a C ranker, who can use tens of thousands of units of mana, it was just a drop in the bucket.

The only thing he could bet on in this battle to be the victor was his combat experience, which was miles above that of the youngster before him.

"Is that so..." Oliver cracked his knuckles.

And slowly began to walk forward.

This was not a fight Oliver could back out of.

The moment he stepped into the Kim family compound, they dared to poison him.

While the poison itself was non-lethal, it could have caused hallucinations, lethargy and uncontrollable bowel movement.

The perpetrator had the intention to embarrass him publicly.

Fortunately, he was immune to most poisons and could immediately heal out of their effects.

’They must have thought I was a pushover.’

’They think they can do anything they want.’

Oliver gritted his teeth.

He was a little angry.

What if it were his parents who came instead of him?

Wouldn’t they be treated the same way?

The blood inside his body flowed quickly just thinking about it, putting him in fight mode.

The rush of blood to his brain also made him sharper, more focused.

The adrenaline began to flow to all parts of his body, awakening the strength in his muscles.

Due to the bombardment of golden mana, Oliver’s cells were beginning to transform into something as durable as a mana beast’s.

Previously, he never had the chance to test out his changed body.

Now, lacking in both blood and mana, he decided to toy with Woojin without any special abilities.

’The next time, they shouldn’t dare to do something similar.’

Oliver thought and pumped blood throughout his body.

"So, let’s get this started." He muttered in a barely audible voice and dashed towards Woojin.

The pale blue tint over Woojin’s sword suddenly flickered, creating a bluish flame over it.

Seeing Oliver dash at him without using the golden mana, he grinned.

"You won’t survive like that." He said and swung his sword.

The flames swirled around the sword, creating a bluish arc in the air.

Oliver was unafraid; his movements became quicker as he crouched to dodge the flame sword.

He could feel the intense heat charring his hair as it missed his head.

’He is striking to kill.’

Oliver’s eyes turned heavy.

Just a moment ago, he was thinking of beating up the kid and letting him be. However, he now has to reconsider that decision.

Just a beating was not going to teach him anything.

"Too slow."

He said and dashed closer to Woojin.

Woojin expected his sword to push back Oliver.

However, he slid under the sword like a slippery eel, fearless and unconcerned.

"You." Kim Woojin spat the word and backed away.

His foot cracked the stone laid on the ground as he used mana to propel himself backwards.

This time, Kim Woojin realised Oliver was not an easy foe.

Despite his attack containing enough power to slice through steel, Oliver fearlessly dodged it without using an ounce of mana.

He was not someone to be trifled with.

Meanwhile, Oliver observed each of Kim Woojin’s actions to find an opening.

He was not going to let the bastard leave.

Swiftly, he dashed at Kim Woojin, who was stepping away from him.

"Hey, where are you going?" He called out.

In terms of speed, Kim Woojin was faster. But Oliver was like a missile which had its target locked.

He was not going to allow the bastard any breathing room.

Before Kim Woojin could stop, Oliver was already near him.

He coldly gazed into Woojin’s eyes, sending chills down his spine.

For some reason, the initial confidence Kim Woojin showed began to waver.

Oliver used the chance to come close to Woojin’s body, preparing to send one more punch his way.

He could feel his body screaming in pain due to the sudden, strenuous movement.

He couldn’t let the battle continue in the same way.

To ensure a quick victory, Oliver punched. This time, he focused his punch on the head of Kim Woojin.

As his fist flew forward, Kim Woojin suddenly stopped.

His eyes flickered blue for a second.

Oliver sensed something wrong and immediately stopped his fist mid-air.

’Danger.’

The instinct he honed through terrible, bloody battles screamed.

’I need to dodge.’

Not hesitating for a second, Oliver jumped back.

The ligament in his knees popped as pain travelled through his body.

Still, gritting his teeth, he jumped away.
