Chapter 92: Truant {5}

EMILIA

~

Why did I even come here? Oh right, Cuz said he forgot something and needed to pick it up, my dad has given the decree of not attending Juneau high anymore, well it was his idea that we started in the first place, he wanted us to leave our comfort zone, I was merely rolling my eyes right now.

Surely it was some sort of training, of course, he wanted us to see humans as the lowly beings they were, making us look superior. I know him well, that was probably his idea. It was no biggie, just attend school right? It was just child play, we never got along and the difference will be very clear and how superior we were.

Not until Dacey decided to fancy a human, well I don’t get it, I don’t get him at all, I mean why cling to something you know perfectly well that you can’t have? It was clear as day but my brother decided to turn a blind eye.

Emma was strange, I couldn’t read her mind which only made her more interesting, she was like a shy cat that couldn’t see light nor crave attention, and yet she catches the eyes of my boy and vice versa.

She’s way too observant of things around her and almost dumb, yes I said it again, she is dumb because she knew quite well she can’t handle someone like Dace, no one can except one day his female.

I would call this a fling if you ask me because nothing between them matches and yet they were drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. She doesn’t know the truth yet, and it is perfect that she doesn’t or the poor girl will break when she finds out they can’t really be together.

Gosh! Even when I told her we can’t come to school anymore she already looked broken, maybe I shouldn’t have told her that, but it was best she needed to know, Dace was like a dream that would never come true, it was Dace fault for letting it get this far, the girl was already attached, so was Dacey.

"You told her didn’t you," Lucas said in amusement, watching me closely, giving me that smug grin that highlighted his dim brown eyes. You could hardly notice they were brown, many mistake them for hazels just like ours.

Lucas was a smug bastard, everything amuses him even this. I just ignored him walking to the car.

"You did," he said in a sing-tone voice.

"Yes!" I snapped facing him. "She needs to know"

Lucas sighed, placing his hands in his pocket. "Relatable" he shrugged and I rolled my eyes.

"She knows, but it doesn’t change anything, we are not coming back here,"

"Hmm, sounds like you are hurt by this," I said, even though he was still amused. I could tell and I could also read his mind. "You like it here"

"Yes I do, it’s good to take in something new, don’t you agree?"

I titled my head to the side. "Coming here early, seeing people speak highly of you, and some detest you, having teachers both pleasant and annoying and also tests" I huffed. "I suppose it was fun"

"See I knew it, even the cold-hearted Emilia can feel"

I just rolled my eyes at his words. To me, Lucas was a pain in the ass. I got into the car, slammed the door and folded my arms, I heard him snicker in the background, and before getting in and pushing the button, the car started.

"Well it was fun while it lasted"

We drove off.

"How’s Dace, haven’t seen him" Lucas finally broke the long-term silence.

"He will live"

At my response he snickered once again, finally, we have arrived and I can finally get rid of him.

I got down from the car and he followed. "Really?"

"What? I’m hungry"

"Ugh!" I growled walking to the door, where our butler greeted us.

"Young miss," he said with a bow giving Lucas a curt nod.

"You’re always a nuisance," I said walking up the stairs and he followed.

"And you love me for it," he said behind. "You love my jokes"

I was pretty sure my eyes would fall off from all the rolling I have been doing.

"Oh Dace"

I came to a sudden stop hearing Lucas and I twirled seeing Dace seated on the white fur coach, a chair set just close to the glass walls, it was broad and served many purposes, mostly relaxing.

"Where have you two been?" he asked with that unreadable look of his, he has been like this ever since dad found out, I barely saw him in a weak until now, I hated when he does that, and not just that, he blocked me from reading his mind, which I hated the most.

"School, went to pick up some remaining things"

"I thought we aren’t supposed to set foot there, orders from the Alpha," he said through gritted teeth, well someone didn’t like that we went without him.

I smirk, folding my arms. "I saw Emma" I began and his eyes snapped towards me. "I told her we won’t be attending Juneau high anymore"

He was up on his feet the next, but he seemed to pause like he was finding the right words to say. "Why the fuck did you tell her that?"

"What?" I shrugged. "It’s the truth unless you plan to still disobey your Alpha"

I noticed his jaw tautened.

"Let’s face it, Dacey, dad never approved of your affection towards her"

"I do not need to hear that from you"

"Maybe I should get my popcorn this look like a good movie"

"Shut up Lucas!" We both snapped at him and he raised his hand in defense.

"And if you think of disobeying dad again, you’re in for a lot of trouble, I don’t need to read your mind to tell that," I said my eyes burning on his, I speak only the truth and that was exactly what Dace has to face right now, we werelions are respectful especially to our elders, he disobeyed dad once, and it was not something he could do again, he was better than that.

"I’m going for a run," he said, moving his eyes away from me. I shivered because they were callous and remote.

I watched as he walked away stripping shirt off before disappearing into the woods.

"Okay, he’s definitely not okay," Lucas said.

Yes, he was right, he wasn’t.
