BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 87: Ludicrous
Chapter 87: Ludicrous
"Don’t fucking tell me that! Anyone who lays a hand on what’s mine will pay the price!"
"Don’t you dare claim a human, you have no right, you hear me?"
As much as how right she was right now, I couldn’t see a rationale for that, all I concentrated on was my anger.
Emilia applied more pressure to my chest with her palm, keeping me down with an unseen force, I could escape her grip in a split second but I was inwardly fighting with myself, I knew what I was doing was scratching the line, I have already crossed the line with Emma, and she might not wanna see me again. Maybe that was what angered me more than I already was.
"What does she have that I don’t"
Those words were enough to catch the attention of the Fae behind us, in tears, sobbing like a mess, like her heart slammed by a rock.
"She’s just a human who moved into town and she thinks she can just take you away!" she barked drawing on her breath, next I smelt from affections radiating off her, and I knew who that was directed on, ever since we started school within human schools due to my dad IDEAS, I have noticed a certain Fae harboring feelings for me, I could sense anything, mostly her lust.
But why would I give a damn? As a werelion, we do not associate with humans not to talk more of other supernaturals, not until Emma.
"Werelions hate humans and you’re supposed to hate her! You’re the one breaking the law!"
"What’s going on here?!"
Another voice came in and a woman strode through, you didn’t need to think twice when you saw her, the similarity was quite clear, Sarah’s mother, Melinda Hathaway.
Sarah broke into tears and sobs rushing inside and Melinda was forced to face us with her gray eyes.
"What are both of you doing here? This place is Fae territory!" She snapped.
"Your daughter is the one crossing the line here" I growled and Emilia stepped in front of me.
"Melinda," Emilia said in amusement and she flinched, it seemed like she finally saw our faces clearly, she knew quite well it wasn’t just a werelion standing before her.
"What are you two doing here?" she asked in a more murky tone.
"Forgive my brother for trespassing... It was a..." Emilia paused and then sighs. "...It was an irrational decision"
She huffed. "An irrational decision that the heirs of the Devereaux are in my compound at 3 am and my daughter is in there crying for god knows what... and you blame it on..." she shrugged with a smile that didn’t reach her lips. "...irrational decisions"
I hate fae! That was more like a mutual understanding to me.
"Your so-called daughter broke a law," I said with clenched teeth and her eyes snapped to me. "Underaged and already using fairy dust to infect a human"
She stilled and her eyes fell wide, well it seems like only her daughter was the accomplice here.
"What are you-"
"She infected Emma Adams with a nightmare"
"A-Adams?"
"Yes"
"Then you would have conversed with the families rather than barge in here!"
I took a step forward, and I noticed that she ached backward in alert, and the other individuals who watched the scene were already ahead of us.
Emilia was already before me, if it wasn’t for her being a nuisance right now I would have plunged, maybe I should be thankful for her presence. It was always Emilia who kept me in check, sometimes even as annoying as she could be.
"You heard Melinda... the gravity of what your daughter has done," Emilia said.
And she looked away, her fist clenching in at her sides.
"Faes have rules and we’re aware of most of them, but the most absolute, the Law of Coexistence we have stood by for centuries, harming a human will not go unpunished"
She shuddered, Emilia has her ways of physically draining someone with her words.
"If you let our coming here slide then we will leave you to handle your daughter"
I snapped my eyes to Emilia and was about to speak, but the next words she spoke made me reconsider it.
"Or better worse let the other families know and my family..."
’Our dad’
She said to our mind link and I knew the gravity of it. My dad won’t take this well, it set this town on fire. My dad may be hateful to some things but he’s hell-bent on keeping laws.
"Handle this and settle with the Adams and no one will hear a whiff of this"
Melinda took a minute like she was thinking of this and I knew she knew better, if my dad gets involved in this, it could cause something more.
"Fine"
~
"What were you thinking, Dace? Barging into Fae territory!" she barked facing me. "Do you realize the gravity of what you have done!"
"I do not need to explain myself"
"Dace you have never acted like this, you have never been irrational before" she nods. "This is all Emma isn’t it?"
"Least you forgot what happened to her yesterday"
"I’m aware"
"Then you know why I’m fucking angry, they crossed the line first"
"So what if you kill her and then what?"
"Perhaps set an example"
Surely it was not my intention to kill, maybe I gave her an earful, but I can’t blame the fact that I was itching to. One major fact about werelion was that we never take it likely when an outsider touches something we care about, this was me!
Emilia huffed at my words. "You have lost it, haven’t you?" she spoke like it was the perfect resolution for me.
The truth is, maybe I have, if Emilia wasn’t there god knows what I could have done blinded in rage.
"If dad finds out about this, we’re screwed, no YOU are screwed"
"Find out what cubs?"
At the sharp baritone voice, we twirled. And the next word we both muttered was the perfect explanation for this scenario when we set our eyes on a familiar hazel eyes.
"Shit!"
