BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 406: Fear Me
Chapter 406: Fear Me
Anxiety has never been a friend to me, crawling up my skin like dread, the unrest of the mind and the fear of what will happen next. I have been able to stay alive in this mansion for weeks but I don’t think I will any longer.
Locked in my room for two days with a restless mind, worried about nothing but my brother. Oh god please let him be alive, this is all my fault! If I had left with him when he told me to... but I couldn’t because Diana would be dead and it would still be my fault, but that doesn’t stop the dread slamming into me like a hurricane. I asked Tiger to check around the mansion for Grayson discreetly but he came back with nothing.
Where are they keeping him?
Oh please let him be okay, because I won’t be able to forgive myself if something happens to him.
The door instantly clicked open and I rose to my feet and faced the door, Singe strolled in. "The Alpha will see you"
My heart pulsed so fast that I was afraid it would drop, something creeping up my skin like spiders crawling.
Fear.
Pure Fear.
"I will change into something-"
"Now" he cut me. "The orders are now"
I gulped, fixing my silk robe properly, and followed behind him.
"Is Diana alright?" I asked on our way. He said nothing and I was beginning to think he wouldn’t answer me.
"Yes"
A relief found me and suddenly he stopped facing me. "She should be dead, instead there are no trace of her wounds"
"I’m glad she’s okay"
Questions swirled in his eyes but I won’t give him any.
"Grayson, the man who came for me, is he okay?"
Ignoring me he walked ahead and I followed. "Please answer me"
He didn’t say a word he might as well have gone deaf, because it was nothing but chilly silence between us.
The elevator doors opened and he gave way for me. I just stared at the space that will lead me to something I can’t handle. I could still remember the look in his eyes that night, it was different, he saw me as nothing but the enemy he wanted to destroy, when they dragged me away I thought I would be kept in some cage but I was thrown in my room. I turned to Singe who didn’t spare me one glance, I couldn’t read him and I couldn’t tell what was waiting for me.
In the cold silence, I stepped into the elevator. I expected him to walk in with me but my heart dropped when the doors shut with just me inside. Suddenly it feels like the walls are closing in on me. I tried to steady my breathing as I held my chest, feeling the elevator move was another whole new level of anxiety.
"Breathe Emma, breathe" I murmured to myself hoping to find courage but I can’t, and my body can’t stop trembling.
I jumped when the elevator came to a delicate jerk and the ding sound followed. It took a minute as I stepped into the foyer and looked around the dark area, the only sound was my loud heartbeat.
Shaky legs carried me as I walked, each step felt like I was taking steps towards damnation, it very well might be, because right now I can’t predict my fate but on the bright side I told myself I wasn’t brought to a dark room for torture.
It means he won’t hurt me right?
Hearing the sound of glass I jumped and turned to the direction of it, my breath shaky as I made my way there. It’s much darker in this area and I can’t see a thing only the moonlight slipping in from the glass wall that shows nature and the loud sounds of the crickets. The delicate movement of the trees with the gentle breeze, was a wonderful sight that gave nothing but a tranquil aura but I felt nothing tranquil right now.
I drew sharply in my breath when I caught sight of a big shadow sitting on what I identified as a couch and a coffee table beside it, the brown color of whiskey from the decanter could be spotted and the sound of ice clicking in a glass as the shadow took a drink.
Dace.
I remained rooted to my spot not knowing what to do. As my eyes got accustomed to the dark I spotted one of his hand hugging the couch behind in a relaxed position, the other bringing the glass up, tilting his head backward to take a drink, his legs spread apart but I couldn’t really see the rest of him. But the moment I spotted dots of dark gold I knew he was looking right at me.
"Come closer"
His deep voice vibrated through my very bones, rough and dark. I don’t think I can move, I can’t. Not while he’s like this.
So unpredictable and detached.
"Don’t make me repeat myself"
I hated myself for jumping, and I told my body to stay strong, if I showed fear he would feed off it for dinner and nothing would make me recover from that. So summoning all the courage I could muster I walked forward with cautious steps and alertness.
His aura was strangely calm but I could feel the chaotic patterns erupting from him in a slow deadly manner, like a predator making his prey.
I stopped just a foot away from him and this close the heat leaking off him was enough to make me sweat.
"Did you hurt him?" I asked mentally surprised I wasn’t cowering right now.
A dry chuckle came from him, not what I expected but I still hoped for the worst.
"If you hurt him I will-"
I didn’t finish because I was dragged by his hand like I weighed nothing and thrown over his lap with a yelp. His actions were so fast and unexpected that it took me a minute to collect what happened.
"Speak of him again, and I swear I will bring his head to you"
"Touch him and I will rip your black heart out of your chest!" I growled trying to move but he forcibly locked my hands behind my back making me squirm around to move.
"You have some nerve threatening me given your position right now!"
I growled trying to break free but his grip was too tight and bruising.
"Having the audacity to ruin my engagement"
I huffed. "So what? Are you gonna punish me now?!"
"Gladly"
