BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 377: Fiancé
Chapter 377: Fiancé
My heartbeat was on the cusp of pulsing out of my chest but I stood my ground. The air is dense and sinister but I was already used to Alpha men intimidating me with their suffocating aura. Luther did the same the first time until I was able to stand by his side without so much as cowering.
This is not something I can’t handle.
Just as I said my sick outfit helped and I’m able to have a sense of pride rush through me as I folded my arms over my chest, ignoring the ting of his bite.
"Morning sickness" I shrugged.
A look I can’t explain flashed through his eyes but was quickly covered up with his unreadable piercing gaze.
No longer leaning against the door frame he stood upright showing me just how much in charge he was. "It’s 3 in the afternoon"
I shrugged once again. "Morning sickness that can happen any time... the smell thickens and everything gets me sick"
He said nothing, only just keeping his eyes on me, not a shift in his looks. "You don’t keep me waiting... never," he said with clenched teeth.
"I very well know what I can or cannot do"
"This is my house... my rules" he left no room for discussion and suddenly an amusement flashed in his eyes. "You might be a guest but your privilege is limited"
Asshole.
I really wish I said that out loud but I know better.
He gave way with hands hidden in his slacks pocket and I made a mistake by drawing my eyes at how he looks. With his button-up dark brown shirt with full buttons left open to see a peak of his chest, he looked polished, and powerful.
The Dace I knew was like a teenage boy just like his age even though he acted overly mature but right now I was staring at a full-grown man, an Alpha.
"Follow me Countess... we have much to discuss," he said, already working ahead.
From the corner of my eyes, I spotted a man, the one I assumed knocked on my door and told me I should get ready, I could still recognize his scent.
I haven’t seen him before in this household but I guess I was bound to see many faces after years. He looked handsome and almost sharing the same monstrous height as Dace, with gray-blue eyes and dark brown hair.
I shifted my eyes away from him as I followed the Alpha my eyes taking in the hallway and more sense of familiarity filling my body, it looked the same but yet it looked like so much had changed, I didn’t want to dwell on it so I set my eyes on Dace’s back, entirely focused on reaching wherever he had in mind, with his long strides he was impossible to keep up with, especially in stilettos.
The silence was mortifying and the only echo was my shoes, is there anyone in this household?
"Alex!"
I halted instantly as he did, I observed as he turned his head and his eyes lowered down the stairs which I followed.
I have only met her once but I would still recognize her, Dace’s childhood friend if I remember correctly, what was her name again? Bella?
A smile on her perked red lips tainted with lipstick as she walked up the stairs, she’s beautiful. I have always known that even that night we met at the party during my introduction to the werelion’s society was Dace’s Female.
But right now she was even more glamorous and as she stood next to him I couldn’t help a feeling that rushed through me seeing how perfect they looked standing side by side. What made my muscles tense was when went on her tiptoes brushing her hand on his shoulder and giving him a quick perk on his cheeks.
"You didn’t tell me you’re back from your raid"
Dace was as stiff as ever but he still answered. "Just arrived a few hours ago"
Her golden eyes darted to me and I noticed a sparkle in them or maybe I was reading too much into this. "And who is this Alex?"
Alex... Alexander, his Alpha given name that no one calls him except his Female, it hurts hearing someone call him that name that was once only meant for me... but I’m about not to dwell on such feelings, I made peace with my soul and that is all I needed, peace.
"Emmaline Zalatoris" I answered with a smile on my lips but it didn’t reach my eyes, it can’t.
"Oh Zalatoris’’ she gave Dace a side eye as if in realization. "The Countess we have heard so much about, enemies or not it’s a pleasure to meet the very woman who belongs to Luther’’
I mentally huffed.
"I’m Isabella Dominguez, Dace Deverueax Fiance" she announced.
"Well, your fiance here kidnapped me... I’m not sure I need your welcoming" I bite, hating as my heart ached at the revelation.
Whatever could it be? It’s been five years and he has no recollection of ever knowing me, no one did, I was a stranger, a vampire, their pawn to reach Luther and bring down the vampire society.
I shouldn’t be shocked he has someone by his side.
"You should count yourself lucky that you were JUST kidnapped, Alex is calm enough to be lenient because he knows his gain"
"Isabella" Dace snapped but I wasn’t exactly sure why, it wasn’t like he was defending me or anything, just getting impatient that we interrupted our walk.
"I have business"
"Your business is mine Alex, when I’m officially your wife we will see all matters together"
"Well now you’re not... the matters are my business now so leave me to it"
Ouch.
Isabella didn’t flatter one bit almost like she was used to Dace acting just as rude. She faces me back with a smile still plastered on her lips. "Fret not Countess I’m sure you’re a bit surprised my Fiance can be menacing"
"Menacing enough to disfigure my skin..."
She huffed and I swore Dace rolled his eyes at the corner of my eye.
"Enjoy the rest of your stay here, Emmaline," she faces Dace. "Don’t forget your promise, sweetheart"
