I barged into the house as well as the rest of the party that followed me to track the Venatores. I was the reason we were back from our hunt but that was the least of my concern. I was blinded by the pain I felt on my mark to the point I felt like dying. I have already checked Emma’s home but I found no one, no one! And it only bugged me further, I couldn’t think straight not until I see Emma.

"Emilia!" I called the moment I blurred to her room but she wasn’t here, she’s missing too? I caught a whiff of her scent and followed it in speed and I was back to the entrance of the house that was when she turned.

"Dace... you’re back?" she asked in shock but I went straight to the point making sure I restrained myself.

"Emma... Where is she?"

"I’m heading to her house right now. She had some presentation to work on so she told me she was staying late and Owen would drop her off. She should have called me by now and I’m worried"

My fist clenched and my teeth did too, forcing myself to speak through them. "She’s not at the house"

"What?" she said with broad eyes. "But it’s late she should be home right now"

I was already at the door. "We’re going to school" I blurred out in speed and I didn’t care if she followed. For some reason I was anxious and my mark kept reminding me that something was wrong, I will not get relief until I set my eyes on her.

I stopped the moment I got to school and saw the authorities.

"Did something happen?" Emilia asked beside me.

I trained my eyes around the place until I caught sight of Oliver, I marched towards him.

"What happened?" I demanded and he twirled with his arms folded across his chest. But they parted when he set his eyes on me.

"I don’t remember requesting your assistance, I thought the werelions were busy with something"

I took a step forward but Emilia’s hand on my chest stopped me.

"Oliver"

His eyes darted to Emilia. "What happened? A Manticore attack? Either way, we have to know, we keep Juneau safe I hope you don’t forget that"

"Ha yes the treaty, trust me, you guys have not been doing a lot of protecting lately" he mentioned as his eyes moved and we followed them to the bodies they loaded into the ambulance.

I have had it. "Emma..."

He faced me and then I saw sadness, I think I did but he quickly covered it. But that was foolish of him because I could sniff it all... something was definitely wrong.

"Oliver, what happened?!" I ordered now and my wrath was getting to me. If he doesn’t talk I will do something I won’t regret.

"She protected us" At the voice, we turned to Sarah with a blanket wrapped around her. She had various scratches on her face, and she looked pale. I sniffed it... she was still recovering from a shock and she also looked like she would cry?

"Sarah" Emilia mentioned.

"We stayed behind to work on our presentation and then we found the summoner"

"The summoner?" I asked and she nodded.

"It all happened so fast and there were three Manticores, they attacked and I swore we were all gonna die, and then Emma..." she broke into tears.

"That’s enough, Sarah" Oliver said but I lost it then.

I marched to her and gripped her arms forcing her to face me.

"Dace!"

She shook under my hold as I spoke as calmly as I could. "What happened to Emma..."

"I know she hates me because of what I did, I gave her hell" she cried. "But she saved me..." she added almost like she couldn’t believe it. "She saved all of us," she sobbed.

And I felt like my brain would break apart and my blood would explode.

"She used magic" the words came off as a whisper but I heard her perfectly. "She used too much and then... then..." she cried now.

I let her go, the aggravation in my body turning into something else, dread.

"Owen took her to the Covenstead and-"

I didn’t wait for her to finish. I was already blurring directly to the covenstead in speed. The silver in my body still affected me and I wasn’t fast enough but I ignored it even as I felt it pump within my body.

I finally came to a stop when I got to the gates and forced it open. I walked to the entrance but the moment I reached for the door knob I was pushed by an unseen force.

"Dace!" Emilia rushed to me and I was already up on my feet ready to go again but she stopped me.

"Are you crazy? Can’t you see there’s a barrier there" she faces the door and I did too that was when I caught sight of the Dreamcatcher hanging by the doors and windows like they barricade the area, they fucking barricade it. Are they trying to piss me off?

"Why?" I growled which was a stupid question, of course, they just had to put us unwanted but this wasn’t fair at all.

The door opened and Owen stepped out.

"Owen!" I called as I strode to him but I couldn’t even get close because of the invisible wall that kept me away. "Why is there a barrier here?" I demand. "Emma, where is she?!"

He was silent but it wasn’t just that because I took a good look at him, he looked wounded and broken and his eyes were hollow like he had just experienced something traumatic.

"Owen..." I began impatiently. "Where is my Female?!"

For the very first time, Owen was quiet, it was like I was talking to a child who didn’t know what to say.

"Owen!" I growled.

"Talk to us, Owen!" Emilia intoned.

The door opened and Vanessa stepped out, her looks were unreadable, the same cheerful woman that Emma talks about a lot had a facial expression I couldn’t read.

"You’re not welcome here, leave"
