Chapter 181: Purpose

Chapter 181: Purpose

OWEN

~

I couldn’t take my eyes off Emma, watching her as she read and fully concentrate on the book before her, watching as she flipped the pages, slightly pursing her lips upwards when she found something she was trying to understand, or even place her hand against her jaw and lean down to the book. The sight was just too captivating to take my eyes off, looking away wasn’t an option for me because she was too alluring, thank god I was out of sight, I could glance at her all day like this.

And at that moment just observing as she engrossed in that book, my chest felt heavy, so heavy that it felt like it was getting sunk by a black hole. I held my chest because of it. She looked so beautiful each passing day and it was getting harder to leave her side and it fueled my purpose even further.

"How far have you gone with your search?" Miles asked me, he was now standing beside me.

"I haven’t found anything yet" I mumbled, unable to peel my eyes off her. "The Grimoires, Dad’s, special texts, nothing I could find about breaking a bond with a werelion"

Should such texts even exist? Mainly because a bond like this has never happened!

"No one said it was gonna be easy, you know. I mean there are still a lot of things we don’t understand about this... Female stuffs or that mark"

He was right but I had little understanding about it. I may have not been able to find what I needed but I did research. The werelions were our past enemies, to begin with, and it was worth studying them. There were some hidden texts that made an account of them.

"Their ’First’ gave them a blessing, a gift"

"They have a First too?" Miles asked, puzzled. ’First’ was what we used in terms of referring to our creator or founder, I guess it was the same for them too.

"Yes their founder, gave them a gift of bonding them with one another in both souls and body, gifted soulmates or something like that, who they would love and cherish until the day they draw their last breath"

"Isn’t that a good thing for Emma?"

I faced him and a frown finding my features. "The texts said bonding them to one another, THEIR kind" I emphasized.

"You think their bond is fake?"

"Of course... we fail to see that, but a werelion bonding with a witch? That’s not possible"

"And a Vortex" he mumbled.

I let Miles and Henry in about it, I trusted them just like I trust myself, they were also helping out with a solution too, but we’re lost, totally lost and all I have gotten was just a discovery about the werelions match.

"Yes.. which is why it’s dangerous for her, she should be with OUR kind not them. As half-blood she’s unpredictable just like how she’s a vortex, a mix of bloodlines will put her in danger"

"I understand," Miles said with a nod. "But this task was given to you with no direction, how are you gonna make this work?"

"I will keep trying," I said, moving my gaze back to Emma. I don’t care how long... as long as I’m able to free her from this, free her from this fake bond she thinks she has with him. She can’t see it as I do, this was a match that was outlawed. Something that shouldn’t be made, it only feels like a danger to her and I don’t want that for her.

"I will keep searching... even if I have to find the Holy library"

"Are you crazy? The Holy Library was erased, you can’t possibly think you can find it, it’s pointless"

I chewed the inside of my mouth, I know it’s pointless, I was only speaking on a clueless plan. But there was something else I could use.

"When this building was built by the founders, it is said there is a separate room that was made, like a study room or a maze or something, where ancient texts are"

"And now you’re speaking of yet another impossible idea"

"At least we know this one’s close"

"Owen, your dad has been trying to find that study room for years, even the previous leader before him, and so on. The founders have a reason why they kept it hidden or away from us"

"This time it’s different" I shifted my eyes back to Emma. "Emma’s a vortex she calls things"

"You wanna use her?"

"Of course not!" I snapped at him. "Not in that way, okay? If Emma can weaken a barrier conjured by very powerful warlocks and witches subconsciously... then she can find a needle in a haystack"

"How are you gonna tell her then?" he nudged his head. "You can’t just walk up to her and tell her to find the very study room with texts that could possibly break her bond with her boyfriend"

"No I can’t... like I said... Emma calls things, the study room never wanted to be found but I believe she can find it even though she doesn’t want to" I slide my hand into my jean pocket. "We just have to depend on that"

He sighed. "Okay, then that’s a plan... I think"

I really hope that it IS a plan because it was as good as staying idle and not doing a thing only to hold on to a possibility. But I wanted to believe in that part of her, that part that was lying dominant in hopes it could trigger the location of the study room.

No one knows what it looks like... all we knew was it contained the very Grimoires that our founders wrote themselves and some things about the supernatural word they discovered.

I moved my gaze to the three framed pictures at the top of the wall, just close to the ceiling, majestically framed.

Morgan Sherman, Albus Keith, Fabian Jose. ’The First’ please guide us.

"Also did you hear?"

I snapped out of my thoughts shifting my gaze to Miles. "Hear what?"

"There’s a new family in town"
