Chapter 134: His Decision

Chapter 134: His Decision

OWEN

~

I’ve no idea how long I stood in front of Emma’s house. I’ve been both worried and impatient. I’ve sent Emma tons of messages and calls hoping she would return them when she woke up but nothing, it was killing me that I haven’t heard from her, I couldn’t erase the image of seeing her wounded body in the arms of that beast. If only I had protected her better none of that would’ve happened.

I can’t even go into the Werelions mansion, only Vanessa could and she was the only way I could check on Emma. But she hadn’t picked up my call for the whole day and it got me coming over here only to find out she wasn’t home. I can’t leave this spot not until I hear a word about Emma.

The past week has been a hectic one. After the incident, all the families were all stirred up, although plans to patch up the barrier were already in progress it still didn’t change the fact that they were able to get in. At first, it was a mystery to me about how the barrier defected until a theory got to me, I discussed it with Vanessa, Emma has been at the edge of the barrier twice and it had been breached because of that, it may have been a subconscious action and it was the only explanation I could find.

Because ever since Emma was able to make a connection with my mom, I knew there was something more to her if only I could find out what.

The sudden sound of a car driving into the street snapped me out of my thoughts, I sighed in relief when I saw it was Vanessa’s, where has she been?

She slammed the door shut and locked her gaze with me. "Owen? How long have you been out here?"

"I’ve been calling for hours but you didn’t pick up. You went to see Emma right? Is she okay? How’s her condition?" I was fast in my words that Vanessa couldn’t keep up with but I didn’t care.

She sighed shakily about opening her mouth to speak but it felt like she didn’t know where to start and then I knew something was wrong.

"Wait, what are you talking about Vanessa?" I asked with wide eyes, everything she had just told me was a shock to me, Emma was awake and she had witch blood. A half-witch?

"I’m just as shocked as you" she gave me a warm drink before taking her seat.

I knew there was something off about Emma, although I’m shocked but this still explains a lot.

"This should be a secret, I’m telling you this because you’re her close friend"

My fist tightened. "She should have come back with you"

"Believe me I wanted that, but the safest place she can be is with them, a Royal is after her..." she clarified. "Not just any vampire a Royal blood, the same vampires who wiped the Juneau’s out"

"We can protect her ourselves, Vanessa, Emma is one of us now, staying there is a violation of our laws,"

"Owen, this stays a secret until the werelion finds that vampire, please"

She gave me pleading eyes and I exhaled sharply, I was infuriated and worried. Anxious about Emma and mad that she shared a house with those beasts. Vanessa must be out of her mind to believe she was safer there with them, the Vanessa I know wasn’t like this, she has a soft spot for them because she thinks Dace will protect her. Well, I haven’t forgotten the kind of supernaturals they were, because of them we were almost extinct due to their pride and greed, if it weren’t for that bargain they would have wiped us out and claimed this place without batting an eye.

Vanessa knew all this and yet she... I clenched my fist.

"I just want her to be safe Owen, Dace has promised me that he will keep her safe,"

Just hearing his name made my skin claw.

"The earlier we end this the better" she adds but my mind was clouded. "Owen"

I leisurely drift my gaze to her.

"It’s late I should go" I rose to my feet before I could hear more.

"Owen!"

I halted. "Emma’s a witch now..." I began as I faced her. "You know how it gets"

"I do but she’s a half... it can’t be certain it’s the same there might be..." her chest rose and fell. "...difference"

"You know I care about her"

"Of course, I do, which is why I told you this"

"And you know I have her best interest in mind," I said as I opened the door and walked out.

I went into my car slamming the door before sighing deeply, I brought out my phone dialing her number, good it was ringing, which means it was finally on.

"Come on pick up... pick up!" I was growing impatient, her line kept ringing but she didn’t pick up the damn phone. I simmered more, that very moment Dace took her I have been constantly clawing within myself, wishing I had it in me to stop him from taking her.

I meant every word I told Vanessa, I have Emma’s best interest in mind and nothing more, she will understand.

I packed my car, before walking into the building and heading straight to an office. I nudge my head at the secretary who caught notice of me.

"He’s busy," she said to me, adjusting her glasses.

Well, this was important... I walked through the door before she could say more, catching the attention of the two men inside.

"Owen," My dad said to me leaning against the black couch.

"I’m sorry I tried to stop him," The secretary said behind me as she scurried in.

"It’s okay" he waved his hand and I heard her departing footsteps.

"There’s something you need to know," I began.

"Whatever it is we will talk about it later, as you can see I’m busy," he said referring to the man before him but I was ignorant.

"The werelions have one of us in possession"

"What do you mean?"

"Emma Adams"

"Emma Adams?"
