BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 131: Witch Blood
Chapter 131: Witch Blood
EMMA
~
My head ached and my ears were tingling like I had just experienced an explosion firsthand.
I groaned so loudly. "My head," I murmured, forcing myself to sit up on the bed holding my heavy head, feeling like I had a rock glued to it. I sighed and instantly it felt like the heavy weight was gone, well I didn’t know a sigh can stop a headache, lucky me.
I flicked my eyes open, was I in Dace’s room? How did I get here? Before I could answer my own thoughts my vision did that flippy thing again and I was forced to tap the nightstand for my glass and I found them, putting them on as I swung my legs off the bed, standing up.
Whoa, I feel heavy there, I sighed again, before humming as my body buzzed. I was really trying to focus on recalling how I got here but all it did was come back to me bit by bit like a puzzle. That was when I heard a hovering footstep and I was forced to raise my gaze, locking eyes with Dace who just walked into the room with a glass of water.
He sighed breathlessly when he saw me and I forced a smile.
"Da-" I paused in my words when he marched towards me dropping the glass on a table and taking my waist in his strong hands before locking lips with me. I didn’t expect this at all and my balance was off too, as our mouths moved in a hungry fierce kiss.
I pulled backward as his weight took over my body until my back found the glass wall, slightly jamming with it.
I moaned in between kisses as Dace hungrily devoured me, I tightened my grip on his shirt trying to keep up with his advances but as always I couldn’t handle him.
His hand snaked my waist in an iron grip and pulled me to his frame and my body came alive, my body tingled and settled like a powering flame ready to explode until he pulled away.
I tried catching my breath but Dace didn’t look like he needed to.
"Do you know how worried I was?’’ His words brought me back.
"Hmm?"
"You don’t remember?" he asked with narrowed eyes. It took a minute but then it all came back to me.
"M-M-My dream... i-it.." I paused as confusion flushed my features. "The first time I floated i-it was actually the skies, like I finally reached the surface there was this garden and t-then-"
"Shhh," he rubbed my arms. "Calm down"
I didn’t realize I was breathing heavily until now. He reached for the glass of water and handed it to me, which I chugged quickly before releasing a very raspy breath.
"Vanessa is downstairs"
I shifted my gaze to him.
"She will explain everything"
~
"The Cycle?"
She nods. "The Cycle is a ritual of our clan, it only happens to newborn witches or warlocks. At the age of five, they visit their ancestors and their powers are unlocked as well as an element"
I took in everything she said and she gripped my hand tightly bringing me further back to reality. I was really getting lost in my head a lot, I couldn’t help the thoughts swirling around me.
"The thing is, that ritual requires a spell and preparation,"
"Then..." I gulped. "...Why did it happen to me without preparation?"
"I don’t know, this ritual has never automatically happened on its own before. Except.."
"Except?"
"Maybe the reason could be because you made contact with Owen’s mom, a full pledged witch, that must have triggered it"
"I don’t understand Vanessa... you said I don’t have witch blood, none of this is supposed to happen to me" I clarified, I was under the impression that nothing magical will ever happen to me.
"I know," she nods.
"Then why?"
She sighed heavily. "Either your dad was a warlock"
I stilled.
"My sis don’t have witch blood so it was always a possibility that you won’t, but now things are crazy, maybe your dad was one... a supernatural"
"I don’t know anything about him," I said in a faint tone as a dreadful feeling consumed me and my insides turned. I hated having to mention him, he has never been there for me, so why think of him?
"Neither do I" she shrugged and I sighed closing my eyes, this was a lot to take in.
"Owen’s mom said it was time to unlock my bloodline" I faced her. "Does this mean I have always had witch blood?"
"I’m just as confused as you are Emma" she sat upright. "I will have to check if the ritual was completed, I will check for the second time"
I flinched before slightly nodding.
"Okay," she said faintly as she placed her hand on either side of my head but she didn’t touch it. I watched her with curious features as she shut her eyes for what seemed like a minute. So this was how she checked me when I was a baby.
She gasped, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"What? Did you sense anything?"
"This is strange"
"W-Whats strange?" I was slightly panicking right now.
A faint smile found her lips as she locked her gaze with me and I got my answer. "You have witch blood, Emma Adams"
I inhaled faintly.
"Seems like I couldn’t sense it before because you were part witch,"
"Whoa!" I ran my hands through my hair. "This explains some freaky things about me right?"
"There’s nothing freaky about you, Emma, although"
"What?"
"It’s really hard to come by a half-witch, our clan mostly believes in keeping the bloodline pure and powerful so they marry others with witch blood. So the fact is I don’t know what it means to be a..." she sighed heavily.
"Half-witch" I answered for her and she nodded with a smile, I knew she put that just to make me feel better.
I don’t even know the slightest clue of how to be a witch, nor a half one. How has my life changed so drastically?
