Chapter 376: -129- Third Prince’s Ambition

Bold City, Duke Mansion.

Third Prince Philip sat on the Duke’s throne, lazily looking at the letters sent by Teleportation Magic.

Behind him, "Duchess of Bold" Eleanor, scantily clad, obediently stood there, and together with two young maidservants who knelt on the ground, also scantily clad, massaged his shoulders and feet.

Suddenly, the room’s door was knocked, and the voice of a personal soldier came from outside:

"Your Highness Prince, Count Linte requests an audience."

Third Prince slightly lifted his eyelids and said lazily,

"Come in."

The door was quickly pushed open, and a tall, armor-clad middle-aged nobleman walked in.

He appeared to be around forty years old, with gray hair and eyes, his features faintly resembling those of the Third Prince, but with more firmness than the beautifully delicate and effeminate prince.

The man frowned as he glanced at the Third Prince, who was half-reclining on the duke’s seat, then swept another glance at Eleanor behind the prince, and said with a stern face to the two maidservants:

"Dress Lady Eleanor properly, do you want her to catch cold in such chilly weather?!"

Upon hearing the middle-aged noble’s words, the maidservants did not move.

As the Third Prince watched the displeased expression on the nobleman’s face, he smiled and lazily commanded the maidservants,

"Put a coat on her, and then take her down."

Only then did the maidservants lower their heads and start to move; they draped a coat over Eleanor and quickly led her away.

As they passed the middle-aged nobleman, he bowed slightly in greeting, while Eleanor also paused briefly, then quickly left with her head lowered.

Watching the middle-aged nobleman bow to Eleanor, the Third Prince suddenly laughed:

"Haha, my dear uncle, your manners are as thorough as ever."

The middle-aged nobleman frowned and said,

"Your Highness, Lady Eleanor is ultimately your wife, there are some things... don’t go too far."

The Third Prince lazily yawned,

"Alright, I got it, I’ll pay attention to moderation."

"Tell me, what good news have you brought me this time?"

The brow of the middle-aged man furrowed even deeper, seemingly not pleased with the prince’s flippant manner but ultimately he sighed lightly, giving a respectful bow and spoke in a deep voice,

"Your Highness, we’ve received a message from the Violet side; the military mobilization is complete. The family has gathered twenty thousand troops and is ready to march north."

Hearing the middle-aged noble’s words, the Third Prince perked up, immediately sitting up and said with a smile,

"My grandfather’s speed is as fast as always! But..."

He stroked his chin,

"Only twenty thousand men? That doesn’t quite seem like Violet’s style, does it?"

The middle-aged man seemed helpless,

"The family’s mobilization this time is under the guise of a military drill. Violet has always been at odds with Roman, maintaining a tradition of assembling nobles for military exercises, twenty thousand is already the limit... If the number were larger, the difficulty of keeping the news under wraps would greatly increase and might alert Castel."

"Moreover, there are still quite a few old nobles in Violet Duchy that have not completely aligned themselves, still remembering the Willert Family. Father also needs to devote a portion of his energy to watching them closely."

"The Willert Family? The one that was stripped of its title and demoted to commoners by my royal father in a fit of rage? I heard they seemed to have suffered an attack many years ago and were wiped out."

Third Prince exclaimed in surprise.

The middle-aged noble nodded,

"Indeed, but after all, they were a family that operated in Violet for nearly a thousand years, even the name Violet Duchy was taken from their surname; it’s wise for father to be careful."

"However, Your Highness, you needn’t worry, the troops mobilized this time include five thousand elite standing troops from the Bowat Linte family, which should be more than enough to deal with little Castel."

"Five thousand elite standing troops? Indeed, that’s not too bad."

The Third Prince nodded in satisfaction.

He then asked with a smile,

"Grandfather, is there any more news?"

The middle-aged noble hesitated for a moment, then said,

"Father asked me to inquire when you will launch the attack? There’s news from North Port, stating that Charlotte of Castel has already led her troops northward to suppress the rebellion. Castel is currently vulnerable in the south; this is the best opportunity to strike."

The Third Prince smiled and replied,

"There’s no rush. Tell grandfather to head to the border first and wait in secret. If we are lucky, we might just be able to make a direct march."

The middle-aged noble frowned and asked,

"Your Highness, wait? Wait for what?"

The Third Prince chuckled and handed over the letter he held,

"Uncle, Violet knows that the young Count has gone to quell the rebellion but is not aware of the finer details. It seems that grandfather’s intelligence in the Northern Lands isn’t as accurate as one might hope."

The middle-aged noble unconsciously took the letter and scanned it; after finishing, his expression turned peculiar,

"This... is correspondence from the Tulip Count Domain? Charlotte of Castel has united with the garrison of Tulip to march north and suppress the rebellion?"

The Third Prince responded with a laugh,

"The Commander of Tulip’s garrison is Count Gaston, a branch of Duke Gaston’s family."

"I had promised him that if I ascended the throne, I would support them in replacing the main branch of the Gaston family and taking control of Gaston Duchy, and for that, he has long pledged his secret loyalty to me..."

"Uncle, we are all family here, so I won’t hide it from you—Castel’s rebels are also our people. The Legris Family, just like the Gaston family, have also sworn their loyalty to me early on."

"Heh, Charlotte of Castel is unaware of these facts, and Count Gaston has used their past relationship to gain her trust; she is probably quite pleased now, thinking she is providing support to Count Gaston."

"I’ve already used Magic Communication to inform Gaston and Castel’s rebels that once Castel’s army attacks the rebels, Gaston will turn his cloak within the army and deal Castel a fatal blow..."

"The young Count of Castel does not trust the nobles of the territory, and this time has nearly taken all of the nobles along in the campaign to quell the rebellion."

"My dear uncle, if we are lucky, perhaps we won’t even need to battle to round up all the nobles of Castel in one fell swoop."

The middle-aged noble frowned,

"Your Highness, this indeed is a very bold scheme, but what if it fails?"

The Third Prince smiled and said,

"If it fails, it fails. Even if it does fail, it will still deal Castel a heavy blow and will further benefit our attack on the Northern Lands..."

The middle-aged noble seemed thoughtful, then nodded,

"I understand. In that case, I will convey the message to father to wait for now for news from Castel."

"No..."

The Third Prince held up his index finger and shook it,

"We are waiting for after I have teleported there, and then we will all march north together."

The middle-aged noble’s heart stirred, and then he nodded,

"I see."

...

The middle-aged noble left promptly.

And the Third Prince also stood up from his seat, calling over a personal soldier,

"Tell the court Mage in the Magic Tower that it’s about time; begin charging the Teleportation Array."

The Teleportation Magic could send letters and items and, naturally, it was capable of sending people as well.

However, the Transcendent materials required for long-distance fixed-point teleportation were only in the possession of the Royal Family.
