Chapter 178: -8- Count...so amazing!

Chapter 178: -8- Count...so amazing!

"Undead! So many undead!"

"Lord Count, be careful!"

The Transcendent Knights exclaimed, immediately raising their swords and steel shields to protect Charlotte within their circle.

"Roar—!"

Hearing the knights’ voices, the undead in the dense forest growled, charging towards the group like a zombie horde in a movie.

Battle erupted in an instant.

The Transcendent Knights swung their swords, chopping down the living corpses that rushed at them.

However, the next moment, those living corpses cut down by the knights shakily stood up again and continued their charge.

"Chop off their heads! Extinguish their Revenant Fire!"

The experienced Knight Captain shouted.

The remaining Transcendent Knights immediately changed their attack direction, targeting the heads of the living corpses.

One by one, rotting heads were chopped off, spewing foul black blood, while the headless living corpses swayed slightly and fell to the ground, becoming normal corpses once again.

These living corpses were not very strong.

Though their strength was far greater than that of ordinary people and they felt no pain, there were almost no tier-entering men among them.

As long as they were not ambushed, they were no match for the Transcendents.

However, the number of living corpses was too many.

The dense Revenant Fire lit up the forest, and more living corpses poured out, overwhelming the Transcendent Knights.

In almost no time, Charlotte and the others were surrounded.

"Protect Lord Count! Break out!"

The Knight Captain, leading the group, chopped down another living corpse and shouted loudly.

As the only Starry Knight among those escorting the Count on this reconnaissance mission, he was at the forefront, having already cleared a path back to the camp.

However, just as he finished speaking, a gust of foul wind passed by his side, and a living corpse, much faster than the others, pounced towards him.

This tier-entering living corpse was clearly more intelligent than the others.

Holding a rust-covered sword high, it leaped up and, displaying a Sword Skill, chopped down towards the Knight Captain’s head.

"It’s a tier-entering man! Captain, be careful!"

The Transcendent Knights exclaimed in shock.

A shiver ran down the Knight Captain’s spine as he quickly turned to guard.

However, he had just relieved his force and had no time to gather enough strength to defend, let alone face the sudden attack from a tier-entering living corpse.

Barely managing a defensive stance, the living corpse’s attack landed.

The Knight Captain felt a tremendous force coming from his hands, causing them to go numb, and his long sword was knocked to the ground by the living corpse.

But the attack of the living corpse did not end there.

It twisted its body at an angle impossible for a normal human, raised the rusty sword, and chopped down again towards the Knight Captain.

"Captain!"

The Transcendent Knights screamed.

Seeing the rusty sword chopping down at him, the Knight Captain’s face turned pale.

He knew he couldn’t block this strike!

However, just when he thought he was about to perish, a piercing sound came from behind.

A Crossbow Arrow directly penetrated the tier-entering living corpse’s head, sending the rotten head flying and pinning it to a trunk not far away.

The headless living corpse wobbled a few times and then slowly collapsed.

The anxious Transcendent Knights paused for a moment, as did the cavalry captain.

He instinctively looked back and saw his own beautiful, lovely Count, standing not far away, calmly retracting a hand crossbow that he didn’t know where she had pulled from, proficiently reloading another crossbow bolt.

Different from her graceful and pitiable appearance at banquets or her usual innocence and cheerful demeanor...

At this moment, Charlotte’s expression was calm, showing no fear towards the horrific living corpses, not at all like a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl.

She held the hand crossbow, stepping over the corpses on the ground, came beside the Knight Captain, and casually pulled out the rusty sword used by the recently tier-entering living corpse, weighing it in her hand.

However, after pulling out the rusty sword, the girl seemed to discover something, frowned slightly, and lifted the blade to sniff.

Then, she raised her brows slightly and squinted her eyes.

"Count... Lord?"

Noticing the girl’s thoughtful gaze, the Knight Captain couldn’t help calling out.

Hearing the knight’s voice, Charlotte snapped out of her thoughts.

She swung the rusty sword, looking towards the swarm of living corpses not far away, took a deep breath, and said calmly,

"Follow me to break out."

With that, she walked past the Knight Captain, leading the way toward the camp.

It seemed that the vibrant aura of life emanating from her attracted the living corpses, which hissed and pounced towards her.

"Lord Count!"

The Knight Captain’s expression changed.

He hurriedly picked up his long sword, preparing to advance and assist.

But before he could rush forward, he saw his own Count already initiating the attack.

Under the clear moonlight, the girl’s golden hair moved with the wind, sparkling with a silver glow.

She swung the rusty sword, chopping at the living corpses that charged towards her.

The girl’s movements involved no complex skills, just the simplest, most basic sword techniques.

However, the Knight Captain was astonished to find that his eyes could not keep up with his own Count’s movements.

Fast... very fast!

In a flash, Charlotte dodged, and the silver sword light reflected by the moonlight glittered around her.

The sharp blade passed, and the living corpses running towards her took a few steps and instantly were decapitated, falling to the ground.

The living corpses at the very front were directly cleaved by the sword light, even the tattered armor they wore was sliced into two halves.
