Chapter 646 - 594 Practice 2

Chapter 646: 594 Practice 2

In Lian City.

The dark, ash-grey sky is constantly crossed by countless shooting stars.

A colossal blue-black planet slowly rotates overhead in this region; the delicate textures of its land, oceans, mountain ranges, and atmosphere are all clearly visible.

Below, within a grey rock building shaped like the character ’出’, a special meeting that could affect the turmoil within the entire Ten Territories is underway.

All representatives of the Omniscient, three positive and seven negative, have arrived.

Inside the room, there are ten seats, each made from black, icy rock with high backs and-carved symbols behind them, representing the forces they belong to.

In the vast grey and black hall, ten chairs are arranged in a circle, with representatives from the ten major powers sitting aloft.

These ten powers include:

First—the Tian Ju Pavilion.

Represented by an old Taoist with long eyebrows, seated cross-legged. He wore a black Taoist robe that was simple and ordinary.

Second—the Divine Eagle Nation.

Represented by a man with the head of an eagle and a body clad in white-gold armor, sitting cross-legged on a chair, meditating with his eyes closed, his hand on the hilt of a short knife at his waist.

Third—the Eternal Ice Sea.

Represented by an endearing snowman made entirely of white snow. With a round head, round body, a carrot for a nose, and a smile drawn with a red pen, it looks amusing.

Fourth—the Serene Pavilion.

Fifth—the Eternal Yellow Sands.

Sixth—Mirror City.

Seventh—the Puppet Observatory.

Eighth—the Ancient Divine Hall.

Ninth—the Celestial Numerary Tower.

Tenth—the Cloud Sea Palace.

Except for the first three, the rest of the power representatives were shrouded in black mist, hiding their forms.

Only the first three made no attempt to conceal themselves.

"The Behemoth Sect and the Void Mother have made moves again. We need to discuss our response and come up with a plan, don’t we?" the representative from the Eighth spoke up in a deep voice.

"Asraduni and the Void Mother have both chosen a different heretical path to break through their limits. Even a casual stir from them can have a huge impact on us," said the representative of the Eternal Ice Sea snowman. "At this Lian City conference, I hope we can set aside our past grievances and collaborate to the fullest."

Despite its cute appearance, the snowman’s voice was unlike its looks, reminiscent of the unpleasant cawing of a crow.

"Even if they break through, it is futile," the old Taoist from Tian Ju Pavilion slowly opened his eyes. "Such breakthroughs mean abandoning oneself and merging with the unknown to exceed limits. What’s the point if you lose yourself in the process? They’re nothing but two failures."

"The Daoist of the Heavenly Hand is right. I only hope that your pavilion’s Four Elders of Heaven’s Harvest, if they fail to break through in the future, do not choose the path of Asraduni, like the Void Mother," the representative from the Divine Eagle Nation said coldly.

"Of course not. Our lives are the pinnacle of order," the Daoist of the Heavenly Hand replied coldly, "Order stems from the known. Everything that is known—all matter, governed by chance order, forms various particles, genes, cells, organs, and even life itself.

Thus, we are the ultimate products of the known, our cognition process itself established on the foundation of life’s order. To choose to merge with the unknown is to give up and lose oneself."

He scoffed, "Look at Asraduni and the Void Mother. What are they now but two names amidst the chaos of the unknown, disasters devoid of rules? What else do they have left?"

"Chaotic disorder is a sin," a figure hidden in the black mist mumbled softly.

"So what does Tian Ju Pavilion think is the right path to break through the limits?" inquired the Eternal Ice Sea snowman. "Is it to plunder the sky curtain concepts from other forces?"

Clearly, they were displeased with Tian Ju Pavilion’s aggressive expansion and plundering.

"I am not one of the Four Elders. I’m merely new to this realm, and your question is too much for me," smiled the Daoist of the Heavenly Hand.

Seeing the snowman seemed inclined to scoff further, he interrupted.

"However, before coming here, my master, Tian Qingzi, specifically mentioned that in order to face the invasion of the unknown, the Omniscient Council of Lian City should further integrate and cooperate to prepare for confronting the natural disaster of a tidal wave."

With these words, the other representatives fell silent.

Tian Ju Pavilion had been increasingly domineering of late, continuously encroaching on the territories of neighboring forces.

The recent destruction of two nascent powers eligible for the Omniscient Council had planted fear in the hearts of the representatives.

Now, in front of everyone, the suggestion to merge the Omniscient Council laid bare their wolfish ambitions, obvious to all.

"Regarding merging, the matter is of significant concern and cannot be settled in just a few words. We need to discuss this at length," stated the representative from the Divine Eagle Nation coldly.

"Of course, but..." the Daoist of the Heavenly Hand smiled, "my fear is that if the tidal wave arrives before we agree on a plan, and if it endangers the forces ranked after us, causing harm, it will be too late."

...

Every representative from the forces ranked fifth and below felt a chill in their heart.

"We thank Tian Ju Pavilion for your concern, but there’s no need," a representative from one force stated firmly. "We have already discussed this matter among ourselves. We may not be as strong as you are, and thus have already banded together, relocated to one corner, and shored up our defenses. Should any danger arise, we will be able to respond in time."

Are the five merging into one?

The Daoist of the Heavenly Hand’s expression cooled. If it were against just one, their absorption would not be too difficult, but the merging of five... That significantly increased the complexity.

Omniscient can be aware of each other’s affairs, so to counteract each other’s Omniscient abilities, strong entities of this level would set up cognitive recursion bands for their own domains.

Should an Omniscient attempt to probe into the hidden aspects of another’s territory, they risk becoming trapped within a cognitive recursion band.

This type of structure was a cognitive trap, akin to a sequence of circular numbers endlessly repeating, preventing Omniscients from breaking out of the loop in their deductions.

But what the Daoist of the Heavenly Hand couldn’t understand was that such measures could only be established by the pinnacle of Omniscient.

Even if these five joined forces, they would only have one at the pinnacle.

’It seems my master’s plan to unify the sole sky will have to wait a while longer.’

*

The Glade.

Within the pure white space.

Li Chengyi sat cross-legged with his eyes closed, surrounded by books that automatically opened themselves. His consciousness power swept over the surfaces of the books in an intangible manner, absorbing a great deal of information and knowledge recorded on them.

He had once again adjusted the time flow to a ratio of one to one thousand, meaning three years here was merely a day outside.

This rate of time flow was nothing short of terrifying.

Yet while he was here, he never sensed any changes in the flow of time around him.

Over and over, he repeated the cycle.

The books around Li Chengyi were replaced with new ones again and again.

The library’s books were forever being updated, and the characters and diagrams on them would automatically record changes in response to the outside world.

This was the Omniscient technique, connected to most areas within the known expanse of every Blind Spot and Black Sea, subsequently recording everything therein.

It was hard to know how much time had passed.

Abruptly, the space around Li Chengyi cleared, and he returned to his senses from his meditative state.

By now, his beard had grown down to his chest and his hair, cascading around him, was longer than he was tall.

A certain unexplained sense of ancient weariness seemed to emanate from his eyes.

"A whole number, thirty years..." He had actually spent a full thirty years just reading and learning.

In those thirty years, he had read through all of the related books recorded here.

And he had also found information on Eternal Vitality.

Everything here, all the peripheral content about this forbidden knowledge, he had read through it all.

Next, what he needed to do was to identify the gaps and rectify the errors.

You see, every book is written by life.

And as long as someone is alive, there will likely be errors and inaccuracies.

Even without inaccuracies, a single point of view brings limitations to one’s understanding of everything.

So his current task was verification.

He put away the books and stepped out of the nearly gravity-free space, taking a deep breath.

At his level, going thirty years without food or rest wasn’t much of an issue, just a slight fatigue, but the information on Eternal Vitality had indeed confirmed the direction he needed for his next step with Divine Fire.

He didn’t return the books about the forbidden knowledge of Eternal Vitality, nor did he need to.

With a single release of his hand, the books disappeared of their own accord.

Forbidden knowledge can only be mastered by one person. Anyone else trying to apprehend it wouldn’t be able to touch it, and even the records would automatically be destroyed.

’Divine Fire... now that I’ve finished reading the forbidden knowledge here, according to the Yin Canon, I must first find a Blind Spot to thoroughly study its internal evolutionary changes... to ignite the Divine Fire.’

Exiting The Glade, outside were neither Chun Fan nor Que Ru to be seen, just two or three Taoists hugging books and placing them back in their original spots.

Li Chengyi quickly left the Forbidden Library, recalling the knowledge he had just gathered.

’The Divine Fire here is not the fire of a Deity, but a qualitatively transformed fire of Divine Intention, born from the Sublimation of Consciousness Power to a new state. It is a higher form of Consciousness Power, with better intensity, density, and speed. This kind of Divine Fire can only be ignited by pushing Consciousness Power to its limit.’

Here, Divine Fire doesn’t bring overwhelming power, but it’s like swapping out a computer’s processor chip, significantly improving calculation speed, reaction time, memory, and so forth.

The control over one’s body will also be elevated to a new Realm.

Li Chengyi mulled it over in his mind, then proceeded to seek out Sage Qianyan.

"A training ground? We don’t have many of those here," Sage Qianyan said with a yawn, lazily.

"Weren’t you at the library? Isn’t The Glade nice? Stay there longer, build up more savings."

"Disciple would like to, but I’ve basically finished reading all the books there," Li Chengyi replied solemnly.

"You’ve finished reading all the books on the vast and profound path of evolution?" Sage Qianyan raised an eyebrow.

"Because Disciple has chosen the path of Eternal Vitality, I specifically looked for related books on the path of evolution. I’ve basically read them all, and there weren’t that many," Li Chengyi nodded.

The path of Eternal Vitality was indeed less chosen, with fewer works left behind by practitioners. This direction obviously had very few researchers to begin with.

Sage Qianyan seemed to realize this too.

"In that case, if you want to ignite the Divine Fire now, you need to put it into practice. Go out and wander on your own. Take this with you; it was left by your senior brother, Xuan Yunzi. If you encounter danger, remember to crush it. The way out is to follow the ancient blood and jump upwards. You’ll see a Formation Vortex constructed at the highest point. Enter it, and you’ll be at the boundary of our hall’s unknown territories," Sage Qianyan said offhandedly.

"It’s a place for trials, but remember, in the current timespace you are in, we are at the moment when Silent Oblivion is imminent. Just find a small Blind Spot to explore and study; don’t attempt the larger ones."

"Understood. Disciple is aware," Li Chengyi replied earnestly.

After another bow, he left the great hall and looked at the ancient blood, immobilized and suspended in Silent Oblivion City.

He immediately leaped up, stepping onto a drop of ancient blood and propelling himself upward again.

His figure leapt once more,

landing on another drop of ancient blood.

In the distance, another person was doing the same, hopping on ancient blood droplets upwards.

The two exchanged a glance without speaking.

On the road to enlightenment, solitude is the norm. In the boundless Black Sea, having even a bit of company is considered fortunate.

Li Chengyi had made up his mind: this temporary departure, if exploring the small Blind Spots didn’t lead to a breakthrough, would be the time to put his brilliant talent to use.

He would use the Flower Language Technique to supplement what the Forbidden Library did not record completely. That way, he should be able to significantly shorten the time spent reaching the Divine Fire Realm.
