Chapter 641: 589 The Way 1
"Stand up," Tian Xuanzi said indifferently. Although he felt it was somewhat hasty, now that he had accepted the disciple, it was done, and it was just a minor matter.
There were many named disciples under his command, and among the tens of thousands in Tian Ju Pavilion, the Four Elders of Heaven’s Harvest had hundreds of named disciples.
Being named was just a privilege that tilted some resources in the pavilion their way.
"It seems you’ve burned your own Origin Seal, which has significantly improved your cultivation. What’s rare is that you were even willing to burn away your powerful bloodline. This is something many disciples are not willing to do," Tian Xuanzi noted.
"Why is that? Disciple doesn’t understand," Li Chengyi asked respectfully.
"Because the bloodline can be inherited, but cultivation cannot. Even though everyone knows that burning a bloodline of the Origin Seal rank can greatly purify and accelerate cultivation, many still hesitate; acquiring a good bloodline is much more difficult than obtaining a common Origin Seal," Tian Xuanzi explained.
"I see," Li Chengyi paused, "Thank you for the guidance, Teacher."
"What guidance is there?" Tian Xuanzi couldn’t help but chuckle, "Since we’re talking about guidance, Xuan Yunzi."
His voice suddenly rose.
"Present." A semi-transparent Taoist figure appeared behind Li Chengyi and bowed in salute.
It was the very messenger Taoist who had saved Li Chengyi earlier.
"Basic instruction on certain common knowledge will be your responsibility to assist your junior brother. No problem, right?" Tian Xuanzi instructed.
"I shall follow your orders," Xuan Yunzi replied respectfully.
Whoosh!
In an instant, Tian Xuanzi’s entire body dissipated into a swarm of ink lines, which fell into the soil, merging with the ground and vanishing from sight.
Li Chengyi took a deep breath, stood upright, and then hurriedly bowed in salute to Xuan Yunzi.
"Bai Lu greets Senior Brother Xuan Yunzi."
"This place doesn’t suit us; let’s change the environment," Xuan Yunzi said, grabbing Li Chengyi, and in a turn, their forms shifted.
Whoosh!
Light and shadow flickered beside the two, and in an instant, countless black lines danced chaotically.
A few moments later.
The surroundings transformed drastically, from the previous monochromatic landscape of mountains and waters to the main hall of a spaceship in an ordinary cosmic space.
Blue and black mechanical electronic lights reflected a pale blue hue off their garments.
"This is much more comfortable," Xuan Yunzi exhaled, "The Teacher’s Cold Hut is really no place for people; the restrictions it imposes on us are too great."
"Senior Brother..." Li Chengyi began, only to be interrupted again by the other.
"Are you about to thank me for stepping in to help you earlier?" Xuan Yunzi asked hurriedly.
"I..."
"I’ve said there’s no need to thank me. It’s my duty to look after the initial candidates of this area. It just so happened this area falls under our master’s jurisdiction. I noticed his aura on you and paid extra attention, never expecting it to be a fortuitous mistake," Xuan Yunzi, with his indifferent demeanor, had the appearance of an elderly Taoist with white eyebrows and white hair.
His Taoist robe was adorned with Tai Chi Diagrams of all sizes, creating a strikingly harmonious blend against the backdrop of modern technological warships.
"Senior Brother... I am about to head to Silent Oblivion City, may I know if you have any..."
"Tips, right?" Xuan Yunzi interrupted, "Silent Oblivion City lies within a solidified space-time, where our ancestors have traced back time to the moment when all things are about to perish and eternally fixed it at that instance. Hence, the name Silent Oblivion."
He continued.
"The area around it is filled with innumerable destructive fluctuations. It can greatly benefit the comprehension of change and destruction. It is the place where Tian Ju Pavilion cultivates its geniuses. However..."
He looked Li Chengyi up and down.
"Barring the parts of your talent that have been enhanced afterward, your innate talent is very weak... I don’t know why the master decided to take you in as a named disciple."
"Senior Brother... You really don’t mince words..." Li Chengyi was at a loss for words.
"That’s just my nature. You’ll get used to it. But the Teacher naturally has his reasons; perhaps you truly possess a quality that I fail to perceive," he said, foregoing further talk and pacing back and forth.
"You have now reached the pinnacle of Qi Fire, no, you’ve actually exceeded the pinnacle, with some overflowing."
"But..." Xuan Yunzi held up a finger, "if you think that simply stacking fire essence like before will allow you to break through easily, you’re gravely mistaken."
"Please, Senior Brother, give me your guidance!" Li Chengyi’s heart stirred, and he promptly bowed in salute.
Since he had decided to follow the path of Tian Ju Pavilion, building a good relationship with these senior brother predecessors was essential.
"What you need to make up for next is the breadth of knowledge," Xuan Yunzi said, "The Divine Fire Realm refers to the purification of Consciousness Power to the utmost, followed by comprehending the transformation of all things and stepping onto the divine path."
"This Divine Fire path requires you to understand and comprehend all the elemental laws of a piece of space-time, large and small. Starting from monism with your Consciousness Power, you must be able to derive and repeatedly refine, ultimately restoring the piece of space-time you have observed and felt."
"This is called retrospection," Xuan Yunzi explained as he stroked his beard. "By achieving this step, you would be able to construct a world with your consciousness, thereby establishing a postnatal world identity. At this point, your Consciousness Power can be considered to have stepped into the Divine Fire Realm."
"To comprehend all the laws of a piece of space-time... could that be very difficult..." Li Chengyi felt a bit daunted.
"To say it’s difficult is an understatement, yet to call it easy isn’t quite right either. Different civilizations have their own understanding and perspective on time and space, but no matter from which angle, as long as you’re able to reconstruct, restore, and trace back this piece of time-space in your mind, you can naturally step into the Divine Fire Realm," said Xuan Yunzi with a smile. "Of course, that’s the realm required by the Divine Fire, and to reach this layer, you also need to burn a sufficient amount of essence. You’ve burned quite a few miscellaneous items before, haven’t you?"
"You’ve seen through it, Senior Brother," Li Chengyi felt a chill in his heart and nodded reluctantly. "When I first encountered the True Fire, I couldn’t help but test out the effects of the Creation Furnace."
"That’s alright, it’s normal to try when you reach this level. You’ve burned less than most, mainly relying on the burning of your own Origin Seal to enhance your cultivation, which is still acceptable."
"What I want to remind you is that from Qi Fire to Divine Fire, all disciples are clear that the greater the expanse of time-space you comprehend, the stronger your foundation, power, and potential in the future. But... the difficulty increases geometrically," remarked Xuan Yunzi with a sigh.
"Talking more is pointless, you’ll understand once I show you," he said as he waved his hand.
The battleship trembled slightly as a series of bizarre symbols, similar to divination figures, lit up blue from beneath his feet and then spread rapidly in all directions, quickly encompassing the entire interior of the warship.
The transparent viewing window at the front of the battleship warped the previously normal starry universe into countless spiraling lines.
The lines began to rotate, entangle, and within a few seconds, they turned into a tangled mess, indistinguishable from one another.
"Focus on containing your Consciousness Power. I am piloting the Taoist Palace into the Silent Oblivion time-space. This area has been bound and halted by our Sect’s great mana. Any external matter or energy once separated from the body will instantly merge into it and become inextricable," Xuan Yunzi reminded.
"Understood!" Li Chengyi was startled and quickly reigned in his Consciousness Power, which he was about to extend for exploration.
The changes and experiences of these days almost completely overturned everything he had believed in for the past several decades.
And this warship turned out to be Senior Brother Xuan Yunzi’s Taoist Palace...
He looked around at the electronic control panels on the walls, the virtual nebula models, and the tubes filled with green luminescent liquid, feeling that something was a bit strange.
"Since we have some time while heading to Silent Oblivion City, why not pay tribute to the ancestor? When I’m free, I like to offer my respects to the ancestor. Occasionally, he does prove to be responsive," Xuan Yunzi said, pointing outside the window.
Li Chengyi followed his gaze and was instantly transfixed.
He saw that among the chaotic light lines outside the window, there was now a vague formation of a colossal, colorful Taoist statue.
The statue was enormous, with one hand pointing down and the other forming the Thousand Changes Liuli Hand Seal, its expression detached with a flame pattern slowly rotating on its chest.
The battleship flew past the statue, like a tiny speck of dust, slowly and inconspicuously.
Li Chengyi walked to the window and closely observed the statue.
He noticed that behind the statue, there were eight colorful, tube-like, supple arms extending outward, like a peacock spreading its feathers, penetrating the surroundings.
The arms pulsed and contracted as if they were continuously siphoning some force from around them, channeling it into the statue.
"That’s the Hand of Creation naturally produced after cultivating the Tianju Pavilion Tome to the extreme. It can automatically collect the super-dense material energy from the surroundings and channel it into the Creation Furnace for incineration, transforming it into the energy to support our everyday activities," Xuan Yunzi explained while paying his sincere respects to the mighty statue, his eyes closed and murmuring words.
Seeing this, Li Chengyi also paid his respects, closed his eyes, and chanted a prayer.
It was just like visiting a temple to worship the gods as he had done before.
Before long, the battleship finally flew past the statue and continued towards the core of the chaotic time-space.
Only then did Xuan Yunzi lower his hands.
"Over 700,000 years ago, the founder of our Sect, Daoist Yi Yuan, established Tian Ju Pavilion and then traced back through time-space to spread the seeds of Tian Ju Pavilion across countless timelines. This laid the foundation for our Sect’s dominant position in this region," he said.
"Later, my master Tian Xuanzi and the other three Sect Elders, in the name of us disciples, worked together to expand the influence of Tian Ju Pavilion. Thus, the positioning of this statue was established. Anyone who comes here can clearly see the outline of the statue, and most remember that in that dark, unknown era where evil prevailed, it was our Sect’s ancestors who first expanded and eliminated much wickedness, creating a zone of stability and peace," he continued.
Talking thus, the battleship suddenly burst through a dense membrane.
In an instant, the view changed to a dimly foggy expanse.
The mist spread, and the chaotic lines of the starry sky turned into a normal gray foggy atmosphere.
Layers of clouds and fog obstructed the view.
Li Chengyi looked back and saw the closing gap of stagnated time-space at the rear of the battleship.
The twisted lines were thrown behind them and disappeared completely in no time.
"This is now the Silent Oblivion City region," Xuan Yunzi announced.
"These mists are the secretions of all things nearing destruction. They serve to isolate and obstruct consciousness.
But what you should be wary of isn’t this, but rather those red objects within the fog."
Li Chengyi looked closely and indeed, within the gray fog, there were countless dark red droplet-shaped objects everywhere.
Each object was the size of a pumpkin, with different shapes. Though all droplets, the curvature of their surfaces varied.
They hung thickly in the air, static, visibly unattached to anything, yet firmly fixed in place, allowing the clouds of mist to sweep by them.
"What are those?" Li Chengyi asked solemnly.
"That is the spattered blood of powerful ancient beings that our ancestor once slaughtered. No matter how many eras of desolation they endure, they remain there forever, unchanged. This is the proof of eternal invincibility," Xuan Yunzi explained.
