Chapter 616: Trap 565 One
The next afternoon.
In Xining, of the Minia Empire.
The specific location of the banquet was not inside the city but ten thousand meters above the skies of Xining.
In the howling cold winds high above, a series of black chains stretched out from the void, converging to a point and suspending a gigantic silver-black sphere.
The surface of the sphere was constantly flowing with a multitude of divine and spirit patterns.
This was the temporary banquet palace constructed by the Pantheon Alliance, solely for this occasion.
Though called a banquet, it initially involved more of a reception with drinks and a dance. According to the venue’s guide, all attendees would leisurely enjoy top-tier musical and dance performances invited for the event within the main hall.
The seats of the various factions and forces were arranged into separate regions, each isolated from the others.
However, the exact situation would only be known upon arrival.
Around the sphere, black passageways of various sizes led inside, with tiny white-light elves, born with a pair of wings and standing about the height of a person, acting as the greeters for this banquet.
The elves were not living beings but avatars of a deity.
Being able to send an avatar to welcome guests signified the high status of this event.
Streaks of light flickered as elegantly dressed men and women began to appear at the entrance of the passageway, guided inside by the elves.
At the fifth passageway to the sphere.
A flash of black light, and suddenly a man with strong build and silver-white long hair appeared at the entrance of the passage.
Li Chengyi was dressed in a fitted black suit, completely dark except for his pale black-golden eyes.
Following him was surprisingly his little follower, Budouna. Since it was a peace negotiation banquet, he casually brought a female companion.
And among those close to him, only Budouna was considered approachable and easy to control.
So he simply brought her along as part of the "atmosphere crew."
For Li Chengyi, Budouna’s main purpose in such a setting was to act as a decorative accessory.
"Leader of ’The Garden,’ ’Yi’ has arrived!" The elf’s voice was transmitted to the innermost part through a sound transmission spell.
Suddenly, gazes and consciousness filled with curiosity, inquiry, and wariness converged here.
Falling upon the two of them.
Li Chengyi looked back at each one of them.
The other common gazes didn’t matter, but the gazes from behind and from the passageway ahead did concern him somewhat.
From behind came three tall figures composed entirely of blue flames, floating in the air.
The one in front had a faintly visible crown atop his head, his flaming skin adorned with a lavish and strange, dark ceremonial dress shaped like an ’X’.
They were three deities from the Element God System, all avatars, with the one in front being the main deity of that system, the Lord of Ashes, Nasir.
Although a weaker divine system, the power of the Lord of Ashes was formidable, only slightly superior to the War God and God of Flame from the Pure White God System.
Li Chengyi withdrew his gaze and looked towards the interior of the passageway in front.
A man with the appearance of a demonic noble, bearing three pairs of ferocious black horns atop his head, was slowing down his pace and looking back at him.
Apart from the demonic horns on his head, the man looked no different from any strong man, but the nameplate on his suit clearly displayed his identity.
’The ninth level of hell’
The man exchanged a brief look with Li Chengyi, smiling politely before continuing inward with his entourage.
"That is His Excellency Grand Duke Mukadio from ’The ninth level of hell,’ also one of the distinguished witnesses of the peace negotiations," the guiding elf informed respectfully.
"Hmm, it seems there are quite a few heavyweights in attendance this time."
Li Chengyi arched an eyebrow.
"Indeed, apart from the camps involved in the negotiations, there are representatives from Hell, the Abyss, Purgatory, the Fringe Lands, the Lands of Nightmare, and so on. Additionally, the Elf God System has also begun to awaken and sent a prince to participate," the guiding elf whispered.
"Quite lively," Li Chengyi nodded and proceeded along the passageway.
Gold-striped crystals were embedded on the ceiling of the black passageway, emitting a golden light for illumination.
The giant sphere, seemingly only a hundred meters in diameter, revealed itself to be far more spacious once one actually entered.
After traveling a thousand meters inward, Li Chengyi and his companion finally entered through a wide-open dark golden door.
Inside the door was a vortex of dark green halos, clearly a teleportation portal.
Li Chengyi paused for a moment before stepping into the vortex without any hesitation.
As the surrounding whirl of lights spun rapidly, they suddenly turned into a vast expanse of void with drifting dark fog.
Beneath their feet was an enormous semi-circular plaza made of pure white jade.
On the plaza were already a number of exquisitely crafted crystal chairs.
Many chairs were arranged as if in an auditorium, forming a large circle, with two groups of black crystal chairs and white crystal chairs situated oppositely at the center, clearly distinct in color.
Obviously, the surrounding area was for spectators and witnesses, while the two groups in the middle were the main participants of this negotiation.
The Pure White God System and the Pantheon Alliance.
Li Chengyi, with Budouna looking tense by his side, was led by the elf towards the seats arranged for them on the periphery.
His gaze swept over the multitude of chairs at the center.
The Pure White God System was especially conspicuous, with each seat occupied by a deity’s avatar shining with different postures and gleaming white light. Apart from that, they were also split into two groups; one consisted mainly of lesser avatar deities headed by the God of Flame and War God. The other was led by two men with peculiar auras; their skin faintly shimmered with a wax-like glow, somewhat eerie.
Noticing Li Chengyi’s gaze, one of the two men with silver hair shimmering lightly, smiled at him.
Li Chengyi returned the smile.
He pinned the nameplate sent by the little elf to his chest, clearly marked with: The Garden.
On his way to his seat, he glanced over at the Pantheon Alliance.
The seats of the Alliance itself were already half filled, with a handsome man at the forefront, behind whom one could faintly see countless pure white wings.
He looked similar to the King of the Death Angels, but his aura was nowhere near as powerful.
"That is Weiman, the Chairman of the Sunlight Council," the guiding elf whispered.
The Chairman of the Sunlight Council? Li Chengyi couldn’t help but take a few more glances.
The Sunlight Council included the Pantheon Alliance, the Element God System, the War God System, as well as a large number of various big and small chaotic forces on earth; the Hunters Association also belonged to them.
As the Chairman, Weiman, able to confront the Pure White God System head-on, was clearly a powerful deity on the same level as the White God.
Beyond that, the ten-plus men and women sitting behind Weiman were all radiating a gentle luminescence. The light, which came naturally to them, was not merely illumination but countless threads of faith constantly connected to their followers.
It seemed that these deities were currently handling the faith of their followers. The thought processes of deities were almost like supercomputers, capable of parallel processing vast amounts of information in an instant.
Li Chengyi withdrew his gaze and quickly took a seat in the first row of the auditorium.
"You’re the leader of The Garden!?" On his left, about ten meters away, several people were already seated in a row.
The one who spoke had sharp, delicate ears and a gentle and refreshing appearance, dressed entirely in natural material clothing made of green grass, with designs that were open in places, looking extremely breezy.
Especially the dazzling beauty of an androgynous face with fair and delicate skin made it impossible for anyone to discern their gender.
"Yes, I am. And who might you be?" Li Chengyi asked with a smile.
"Ilantis!! I am the main trunk of the mother tree, the God of Natural Harmony! The Main God of the Elf God System!"
The other party stared at Li Chengyi, their emerald eyes almost spewing flames.
"You took advantage of our slumber to covertly harm Candolu and several other deities! We will inevitably have a battle one day."
"Candolu’s idea of sacrificing human limbs to nature, establishing the doctrinal concept of hunting humans as a way to eliminate the scourge of nature, is a path to death. If Your Excellency Ilantis believes that elves should treat humans as prey, slaughtering them to return them to nature, to the cycle of life, then I have nothing more to say."
Li Chengyi casually retorted.
He didn’t choose his targets haphazardly; he targeted true gangsters.
If not for gangsters, where would he find such a plentiful source of Evil Thought Absorption?
Many good people have distorted notions, and they aren’t nearly as spirited in their resistance as gangsters are.
Thus, when he made a move, it was always after thorough investigation, followed by a thunderous strike.
"That’s sophistry!! Although Candolu and the others made mistakes, it’s not for The Garden to teach them a lesson!!" Ilantis said angrily.
She didn’t dare to continue on the subject from earlier. Most of the deities here are primarily worshipped by humans, and nowadays it is no longer the ancient past—the faith in elves is no longer the mainstream.
Li Chengyi ignored her, as it was a matter of camp and stance.
By this time, the main characters of the divine banquet and talks had mostly arrived.
The Pure White God System, several members of the Element God System from the Sunlight Council, the Elf God System, Hell, the Abyss, Purgatory—all sent representatives to witness this historic moment.
If the talks were truly successful, the entire situation in Mosha would change drastically.
Mighty waves of deity consciousness swept through the void of this banquet space.
The deities weren’t conversing face-to-face, but there were plenty of exchanges through the subtle contact of consciousness in the background.
Without any murmuring, most of the consciousness gathered around the two from White Wax and on Li Chengyi’s side.
Apart from the discussions themselves, White Wax and The Garden were essentially the most eye-catching emerging forces in recent times.
Soon, Weiman stood up, speaking on behalf of the Sunlight Council, stating their conditions.
The other side accepted them entirely.
Then came the Pure White God System. The incarnation of the White God was a handsome, ice-cold youth with snow-white hair. He too stood up and proclaimed the conditions offered by his side.
The Sunlight side likewise agreed.
It was apparent that the two sides had already negotiated well beneath the stage, and then they took out the divine contract for representatives of their forces to sign their divine names.
The moment the signing was completed, a subtle, soft melody arose all around.
In the dark void above, countless golden dots also showered down like snowflakes.
At this moment, Weiman, the Chairman, stood up, ready to leave his seat, but it seemed a divine thought spoke to him, and he halted his steps, turning back to look towards the direction of the Pure White God System, his gaze growing sharp.
A strange aura flowed through the void above the plaza, and even Budouna next to Li Chengyi could sense that something was amiss.
"What’s happening!?" she couldn’t help but ask in a low voice.
Li Chengyi narrowed his eyes at the scene unfolding before him.
"It’s nothing; the contract is still there," he said.
"The contract is a witness to the world. After the gods sign it, it should burn away and disappear on its own..." Budouna realized.
But now, the contract was still there, which meant, the talks had failed!?
Li Chengyi remained silent, not saying a word.
It was almost inevitable that there would be problems with this round of talks. Due to its own doctrines and some mysterious purposes, the Pure White God System must purify and destroy everything on the surface of the earth to restart the world.
Such fundamental issues could not possibly be resolved simply by negotiating some terms.
So...
Hum...
Suddenly, a faint vibration emanated from far above the sky.
