Blind Spot
Chapter 599 - 549 Heartbeat One

Chapter 599: 549 Heartbeat One

Despite Li Chengyi’s best efforts to guess what had happened on Tom’s side, this scene was truly unexpected.

The two were being disgustingly sweet with each other in the room, a picture of syrupy tenderness that left Li Chengyi speechless.

The first Human-Faced Spirit Sword was about to be completed under such circumstances.

At a loss for words, he used Shadow Flash to return to his office, deciding not to pay too much attention to these matters and instead focused his efforts on researching the Shadow Dragon Prison.

Having confirmed that Paine and the others had entered the Blind Spot to avoid something, it became much easier to seek out relevant information and documents.

Once he truly got into the thick of it, Li Chengyi even obtained various historical records from Wen Lin, the local municipal official of Ludian.

After several days of research, he finally started to notice a glimmer of a clue.

In the brilliant sunshine of midday, the fierce sun outside raised the temperature to nearly forty degrees.

In the office, Li Chengyi was browsing through a history book he got from Wen Lin, frowning as he flipped through it.

It was a book similar to a translation and interpretation of mythological hymns, written by a scholar with a deep study of the Venus Federation.

It rarely mentioned remnants of a ruin from over five thousand years ago, and the abnormal traces left behind after it was unearthed.

And it subtly hinted at why, as a pasture of the gods, Anze was a place all deities fought over.

Though there were many people here, its importance shouldn’t be this significant.

This was also Li Chengyi’s confusion.

’Budouna, do you know what happened in Anze five thousand years ago?’ Li Chengyi looked up and asked the Gem Dragon who was lying around the office, bored to tears and trying to sleep.

With nothing to do, she had ventured out only to find herself amidst the Church Group nations, and had no choice but to return sheepishly here, relying on Li Chengyi’s protection.

This Golden Level powerhouse, when faced with the entire vast force of the Church Group nations, also chose to temporarily hide her presence.

"Five thousand years ago, I was still young, but I’ve heard from my grandfather that Anze seemed to have suffered a terrifying disaster," Budouna replied.

"A disaster? What kind was it?"

"Um... it was said to be a catastrophe that could completely mutate people and creatures into monstrous abominations, with anyone standing on this land being polluted and mutated by some shadowy force," Budouna answered respectfully.

"However, this contamination could be purified, and once purified, the pollution would become an excellent source of power enhancement, capable of strengthening any creature’s prowess."

"Is that so?" Li Chengyi exclaimed in surprise.

At first, he thought it might have been his Evil Soil contamination spreading here, but the more he heard, the more he realized it was something entirely different.

Evil Soil was irreversible and did not originate from shadows.

This, it seemed, was another kind of power.

"What happened afterward?" he continued to inquire.

"Afterward, the Dark Religion came into being. Several deities merged into one, becoming the Supreme God that governed darkness. Their tremendous divine power spread like rain, absorbing the residual disaster power. Later on, the Dark Religion was also exterminated, and Anze became what it is today."

In these days, Budouna had also managed to get a grasp of the current situation in Anze.

She had a count of the distribution of the Sunlight Council, the Churches, and their nations as well.

"So, now, I mean in modern times, is it possible for that kind of disaster to erupt again?" Li Chengyi asked.

Otherwise, he couldn’t understand why Paine would choose to hide in the even more dangerous Shadow Dragon Prison.

"It’s possible, but many secrets are kept in the hands of the Church nations. Without a certain rank, we can’t be sure of the details," Budouna shook her head.

"..." Li Chengyi pondered, carefully considering his next move.

He was investigating this information so urgently lately because he himself had also vaguely sensed the approach of some kind of change.

Having mostly figured out the hierarchy of Anze, next, he planned to try to contact beings above the Gold level to assess their strength and incidentally unearth hidden information.

He made his decision on the spot.

Demigods, Deities, he had to make contact with each of them.

At the Golden Level, there was actually some power already, comparable in trouble to someone at the level of a Seal Ring. But compared to those with Seal Rings, they had a significant weakness in terms of speed.

’If the strength of the Demigods and the Deities isn’t very great, then I might as well take action and unify this place thoroughly, then investigate the hidden secrets. Whether I need a temporary base or a logistic one in the future, or to summon the structures of Evil Flower, I should have a place ready.’ He had this thought.

The impact of the Evil Flower structures was unknown, and he didn’t want to place them on Earth-Moon, where many secrets were still undiscovered; this place might be just right.

However, to achieve all this, he still needed to get a clear picture of the situation.

Li Chengyi always felt that it wasn’t that he had escaped the entanglement of the Blind Spot, but rather that ordinary Blind Spots could no longer affect him, so the cycle naturally lengthened.

In such a case, once he felt the sensation of being drawn into a Blind Spot, that would mean the particular Blind Spot capable of pulling him would possess a significant threat.

It would surely be far more dangerous than all the Blind Spots he had encountered before.

Thus, he also had to be ready to respond. And then there was the White Wax... that mysterious force with extraordinary capabilities; he needed to be prepared in advance for that too.

Sitting at his desk, the more Li Chengyi thought about it, the more he felt that ruling over the entire Anze, using the resources of a whole world to prepare, and evolving the Floral Dress to its peak, as well as strengthening his Flower Language Ability to its limit, were what he ought to do.

Budouna, who had been glancing at him unintentionally, suddenly felt an inexplicable chill in her heart.

"Budouna, do you know the overall structure of a Church Group? Does every Church Group have a Demigod above a Bishop?" Li Chengyi asked.

"Not necessarily. Generally, only medium-sized Churches would have Demigods. Almost all the medium-sized Churches in the nations of Anze are members of the Sunlight Council," Budouna answered promptly.

"How powerful are the Demigods?" Li Chengyi inquired.

"Much stronger than my previous strength. They possess divinity that grants them strong resistance to many powers; damage inflicted upon them would be greatly reduced. Moreover, Demigods each have their own innate abilities, and these abilities tend to be extremely potent, sometimes even flagrantly so," Budouna explained.

"Understood... Shall we go witness it together?" Li Chengyi nodded.

This world, needs a new master.

A faint feeling was stirring in his heart.

"That’s simple, the only solitary demigod nearby is the Archbishop of the Druid Sect in the Karls Mountains within the Federation territory, Melo Green Sea. He is of Mountain Giant heritage, quite old. I thought he was dead before, but when I went out for a stroll after coming out, I found out he is still alive."

"The Druid Sect? Didn’t that church group vanish long ago?" Li Chengyi asked.

"They no longer have any members or followers. They believe in the natural forces of survival of the fittest, and their faith is extremely loose, lacking cohesion. They live in isolation, indifferent in temperament, and have very low societal demands, so it’s normalization for them to become increasingly desolate," Budouna nodded.

"Well then, let’s go have a look," Li Chengyi stood up, his heart brimming with anticipation.

He needed to make a baseline assessment of the power of a demigod, in order to measure his own strength within the hierarchy of this world.

"Yes."

A flash of black light, and the two disappeared from the office.

The Karls Mountains.

This large mountain range, stretching for thousands of miles, has been developed by humans in many areas; its outskirts have been transformed into parks, mining districts, hunting zones, among others.

Past the warning signs of danger lay a more primitive sea of trees and forest.

Gigantic trees rising tens of meters tall, and vines thick as arms could be seen everywhere.

Rocks the size of trucks followed one after another.

Trees, boulders, and vines comprised the main landscape.

With continuous flashes of black light deep in the forest, a silver-haired man in a black figure-hugging coat, accompanied by a sultry woman in a green dress with green hair, appeared between the trees.

"Is this the place?" Li Chengyi asked, looking back.

"Yes, master. Each of these boulders is an eye-line that Melo, the demigod, can control. However, he’s currently asleep. The Mountain Giants as a race love to slumber; they often sleep for decades or even centuries," Budouna stated gravely.

"Good, you know how to awaken him, don’t you?" Li Chengyi said.

"It’s simple." Budouna stepped forward, her body slowly levitating, her sharp dragon eyes suddenly shining with a pure green light.

She opened her mouth and took a sharp breath in.

Hiss!!!

A huge gust of wind materialized out of nowhere, pulling grass, stones, dirt, and small trees toward it, shrinking them, and flying into her mouth.

Her mouth, like a bottomless abyss, continuously swallowed the vast array of debris flying towards her.

The whooshing sound of the wind caused the sea of trees to emit a sound similar to roaring waves.

One second.

Five seconds.

Ten seconds.

Soon, a faint tremor slowly traveled up from the soles of Li Chengyi’s feet.

His expression shifted slightly as he gently levitated to avoid losing his balance.

Then he looked forward.

Plop.

In front of them, a giant hand composed of grey rock thrust out from the ground.

The hand, three to four meters wide and more than ten meters long, was incredibly robust.

It reached out from beneath the surface, pressing forcefully on one side and pushing the rest of its body out.

Amidst the noise of countless bits of soil scattering, a thirty-meter-tall grey stone figure appeared before Li Chengyi and Budouna.

The stone figure, made up of large sections of grey and white rock, had no face on its head. Its body was covered with moss and tree roots, and in the center of its torso was the clear face of an old man, watching them intently.

A thirty-meter stone giant might be conspicuous elsewhere, but here, surrounded by trees hundreds of meters tall, it didn’t seem so out of place.

The stone giant lowered its head, examining Budouna, then Li Chengyi.

"A Gem Dragon? Quite rare. And a human? What do you want with me?"

His voice was sharp and noisy, sounding like a mixture of human voices with copious amounts of wind, rustling leaves, and the crash of streams.

"Sorry to disturb your rest, but I just wanted to see how strong the power of a demigod really is," Li Chengyi bowed slightly, "If it disturbs your sleep, I will be gentler when I take action shortly."

"Heh heh... another poor fool who knows not what death is... Knowing that I’m a demigod and still daring to challenge me alone, you are not only more foolish but also more pathetic than those poor creatures I’ve devoured," the demigod Melo mocked.

Li Chengyi looked at the colossal creature before him, his gaze shifting downward to Budouna.

"You try, don’t go full physical form," he instructed.
