Chapter 535: Dharma Practice One
Chapter 535: Dharma Practice One
Suyue Sect palace atop the mountain.
A green-robed woman sat cross-legged in midair, maintaining the pose of an outstretched right hand, her palm stiff and suspended in the void.
’What happened?’
’What am I doing?’
’That was just an accident, right??’
The present mind of the Suyue Sect’s leader was still muddled.
’All I wanted was to teach them a casual lesson... to throw them into the savage lands for a bit of discipline... that’s all...’
The sect leader’s expression was blank as she looked at the six equally stunned elders around her.
"....Now...this...the matter at hand... is that the Qingmu Sword Sect has gone too far, sending an elder to attack the Suyue Sect’s gates, even attempting to assassinate our disciples! Therefore, I had no choice but to take action and capture him..."
"That’s right," chimed in an elder quickly and loudly, "The fault does not lie with us. That elder was unruly, ferocious in nature, daring to attack the sect leader. Having no alternative, the sect leader showed restraint multiple times before finally killing him."
"Elder Tu is truly benevolent!" The sect leader’s expression immediately eased up.
The few quickly discussed and finalized the details to mend the situation, defining the nature of the incident.
"Additionally, this entire affair was incited by that disciple of the Faceless Sword Sect. Why not let him come in so that we too can see the origin of this Faceless disciple who has caused no small trouble," declared a white tiger spiritual beast that had taken human form, its forehead marked with the character for Wang, speaking in a grave tone.
"Indeed," the sect leader nodded slightly. She was also curious about what sort of child could make an elder of the Qingmu Sword Sect pursue so far, all the way to their doorsteps.
Most of the Suyue Sect members were spiritual beasts who had cultivated human form, outwardly human, but fundamentally shape-shifters.
After determining to see Li Chengyi, a disciple quickly went ahead to lead the way.
A woman dressed in white robes approached the sect leader and elders to pay her respects, then turned and swiftly walked to the edge of the palace, diving into the abyss below.
Splash.
Instantly, the woman’s body swelled and transformed into a Snow Eagle covered in white feathers.
The Snow Eagle flapped its wings and dived downwards, flying toward the forest below, heading straight for the location of the Faceless Sword Sect disciple.
In no time, the woman landed gently, standing firm in a clearing in the forest, taking human form once more.
In the distance ahead, in the forest, two figures were rapidly colliding, both holding long swords in their hands.
One was dressed in white, with antlers on his forehead.
The other wore green robes and also had white antlers, though slightly longer.
This was Li Chengyi and Yuan Qi, who were in the midst of their duel.
’Are they sparring?’ The Snow Eagle woman narrowed her eyes as she approached to closely observe the battle.
At that moment, snowflakes were fluttering down.
The two figures clashed rapidly in the forest, one focusing on stabbing while the other on slashing, each exhibiting a completely different style of swordplay.
Li Chengyi’s Dingyuan Sword specialized in slashing, never confronting directly, and constantly cutting from different angles to deal with his opponent.
Unlike his previous opponents, Yuan Qi, whether in swordsmanship, strength, or speed, managed to keep up with him, appropriate for his age level.
Only slightly slower in speed, he would suddenly and inexplicably burst forth at critical moments, remarkably increasing his responsiveness, and pulling back any disadvantage.
Li Chengyi’s sword turned nearly into a phantom, like water mist before him, known as the Water Smoke Sword Technique.
But the mist soon turned into ribbons, gently pressing forward.
During the clash of sword techniques, another level of confrontation was the fierce consciousness power between them, what people here often referred to as divine sense.
After dozens of moves, Li Chengyi exerted more power.
After all, he was at the Six Seals Level, and even with just one Giant Strength Imprint, because of his substantial bloodline base and foundational strength, his power, even while disguised, massively exceeded that of Yuan Qi after the amplification of Giant Strength.
Whoosh.
The Dingyuan Sword suddenly became much heavier, from the previous ten-odd tons to fifty tons.
For common disciples at this level, ten-odd tons represented the elite echelon. As for others like Zhao Yuan, their limit was only slightly above twenty tons of impact force, and that was with the addition of speed.
But for Li Chengyi at that moment, this was like a gnat.
The white blade, like a battle ax, thunderously crashed down on Yuan Qi’s thrusting sword.
Clang!
The sword in Yuan Qi’s hand flew out of his grip, his face showing a drastic change as he flashed back dozens of meters, his body flickering with green light as he raised multiple defensive force fields again.
This seemed to be the special sword technique he cultivated.
But it was to no avail.
Li Chengyi’s Dingyuan Sword slashed straight down.
Swish!
The fields were cut through layer by layer, and Li Chengyi, with exactly fifty tons of impact force, utterly overpowered the opponent at this level.
Whoosh!
The Dingyuan Sword hovered at Yuan Qi’s forehead, then abruptly stopped.
"I concede,"
Li Chengyi smiled and sheathed his sword.
"I have lost..." Yuan Qi’s expression changed slightly as he stood up and took out a seal from his clothing, tossing it over.
"Here is the Imprint you wanted. Consider yourself passed."
Li Chengyi caught the seal, took out a small notebook, and stamped it. With that, this sect was accomplished.
Seeing that Yuan Qi seemed like he wanted to say something else, Li Chengyi closed the notebook and returned the seal.
"Disciple Bai Lu of the Faceless Sword Sect, our Sect Master would like to invite you," the Snow Eagle woman took the opportunity to step forward, her arms transforming into white feathered wings, and she lightly flashed to a position several meters beside him.
"Please lead the way," Li Chengyi quickly showed a respectful expression.
In this Blind Spot World, within Panguang, the leaders of the Four Sects represent the four most powerful masters of this era.
The four not only resisted the various dangers and disasters within Panguang but also the threats of invasion from the Black Sea outside at any time.
According to the information occasionally leaked by Kui Ling in daily life, one would be qualified to engage in matters related to the Black Sea upon reaching the elder level.
Here, the Black Sea is known as the Sea of Profound, but despite the different names, it is, in fact, the same thing.
With these thoughts, Li Chengyi looked back at the other disciples of the Faceless Sword Sect, giving them some quiet instructions before quickly heading towards the snowy mountains under the woman’s guidance.
Both were beyond the ordinary, moving with incredible speed. The Faceless Sword Sect’s practice focused on speed, and their Faceless Sword Technique inherently had the effect of tempering the body. By the Third Layer, you’d basically be comparable to a Grade Three Reinforced Human of the Earth-Moon era, at the speed of sound.
With such a level of defense combined with sonic-speed bursts of action and mobility, one could basically be considered insulated from the common world.
In other words, any practitioner of the Faceless Sword Technique at the Third Layer, upon arriving at Earth-Moon, would be close to a Grade Four elite soldier.
In civilian life, only some financially solid Reinforced Humans could reach this level.
Li Chengyi roughly converted the strengths to compare them, all according to the Earth-Moon system he was familiar with.
The previous Four Junior Swords, the other three, were between this Grade Three and Grade Four level.
Yuan Qi, who he just faced, was comprehensively evaluated to be at the Grade Four level. Being higher than the Four Junior Swords meant he was essentially one of the top young disciples in the Suyue Sect.
Being one of the Four Sect, there was no reason for the Suyue Sect to be much stronger than the Faceless Sword Sect.
As for others, Li Chengyi hadn’t yet sparred with them and couldn’t judge.
Moving at the speed of sound, they soon arrived at the peak of the snowy mountain and stopped in front of a large hall with no doors and all sides open to the wind.
In the hall, a woman dressed in a green robe, with raised corners at her eyes as if painted with dark red eyeshadow, captivatingly beautiful, was sitting cross-legged in mid-air, holding a whisk, and quietly watching Li Chengyi.
"This is our Sect Master, Qingyang," the Snow Eagle woman whispered an introduction.
"Disciple Bai Lu pays respect to Qingyang!" Li Chengyi immediately bowed without a word, knowing just by sight that the other party was a formidable master far beyond his own capabilities. Paying respect to such a powerful person was never a loss.
"Bai Lu... You carry the blood of the Giant White Deer Clan within you; make sure to get closer to your clan when possible," Qingyang commented indifferently, her green eyes scanning Li Chengyi from head to toe.
"At such a young age, your aura is already so stable... It seems the Faceless Sword Sect is about to gain another outstanding disciple... Are you aware that your eldest senior brother has gone to the border of Panguang and with a single strike, slain the infamous demon king Chi Hu Hong Shen?" Qingyang asked.
"Ah... I didn’t know... But with eldest senior brother taking action, success is, of course, guaranteed," Li Chengyi was now certain that the Faceless Scholar was Huo Qingkong; how could he overestimate his eldest senior brother, who would turn into such a terrifying monster in the future?
"All of you in this generation speak the same way.... It seems Huo Qingkong has truly soared to the skies..." Qingyang sighed, feeling a touch of envy.
In this generation of the Four Sect, only the Qingmu Sword Sect’s Red Frost Sword, Ding Zao, and the Faceless Sword Sect’s Yijian Qingkong, Huo Qingkong, could be termed as the two most outstanding prodigies, illuminating all directions.
Both were under twenty yet had cultivated their sect’s techniques and sword techniques to levels comparable to elders.
The strength and potential they possessed were unrivaled for thousands of years.
"Speaking of which, your eldest senior brother is also quite unique. The Red Frost Sword, Ding Zao, was born from the bones of a sword nurtured over a thousand years in the mountains. As for Huo Qingkong, he was born into the imperial Wang Family, a child of the millennium morning cloud qi from the Outer Domain of Panguang. Their very natures and divine thoughts are exceedingly pure. In the coming millennium, it should be their world..." Qingyang mused with some emotion.
Li Chengyi heard about Huo Qingkong’s origins for the first time and was astonished.
Reborn from a thousand years of morning cloud qi into an imperial family... This was utterly beyond the level of ordinary people...
No wonder his talent was so terrifying.
"But don’t underestimate yourself either. At your age, to be able to defeat Yuan Qi, your strength and potential are already quite exceptional," Qingyang looked at the six elders on the side, her gaze resting on a pure young woman with white deer antlers growing from her forehead.
"Sister Bai, he carries the blood of your clan, shouldn’t you show some gesture of support?"
It was evident that Qingyang wasn’t used to speaking so formally and generally had a very casual nature.
The moment she spoke, her true personality began to show a little.
The woman with the deer antlers, her expression cold, took out a white stone with tiny golden flecks from her sleeve and lightly tossed it.
The stone floated up gently, moving in front of Li Chengyi.
"This is Gold Star Jade, capable of blocking a backlash of Holy Spirit Technique below the Six Seals Level. Crush it when the backlash occurs," the woman’s voice was cold, clearly reflecting her character.
"This is a good item!" Qingyang hurriedly gave Li Chengyi a meaningful look.
"This is a kind of Spirited Prime Origin stone, priceless in value; don’t hesitate to thank Elder Bai! She too hails from the Giant White Deer Clan and is your kin!"
"Many thanks to Elder Bai for this treasure!" Li Chengyi’s face naturally showed delight.
He was currently planning to continue practicing the Holy Spirit Technique as intended, and this item that could withstand the backlash had come at the perfect time.
