Blind Spot -
Chapter 420 - 384 Secret Two_2
Chapter 420: 384 Secret Two_2
"Ready?"
"Open the door."
Both of them paused in their actions; then, Yserine grasped the doorknob and twisted hard.
Click.
The wooden door slowly opened outward, creating a gap.
Countless dazzling gray lights burst forth from the crevice.
Fortunately, the gray light did not last long and soon dimmed, revealing the scenery outside the door.
Outside was a square, enclosed room with dark red bookshelves standing all around.
The four walls of the room were comprised entirely of bookshelves.
The mahogany bookshelves were filled with countless books of every size, thickness, and variety, displaying all sorts of text and characters.
The bookshelves on all four walls extended upwards, reaching into the darkness above, their heights unknown.
In a corner of this library, there was also a set of table and chairs.
A blurred figure clad in a dark blue gold-edged cloak was sitting quietly in a chair, flipping through a book in front of them under the light of a black desk lamp.
"You’ve arrived?" The figure lifted their head to reveal a vague, gray face.
The face had no features, just a pair of bright, blood-red eyes that were piercingly bright.
"Last time, it was entirely thanks to Professor Mimam’s assistance that I was able to safely escape from the Black Sea. I am immensely grateful for your rescue," Li Chengyi stepped forward and gave a solemn bow to the other party.
Unexpectedly, he was also speaking in Black Sea language.
Both Yserine and Mimam were slightly surprised but quickly recovered.
"Your grammar... is somewhat strange, it seems to be a pronunciation format from many thousands of years ago... but no matter, the essence of Black Sea language is fluidity. Whether it’s ancient or modern language, there will be no barrier to communication," Professor Mimam said with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Before coming here, my brother said he didn’t know Black Sea language, did he?" Yserine was a bit unhappy to have been deceived.
"I wasn’t actually sure whether what I said was correct, so that’s why I said I didn’t know," Li Chengyi reached out and tousled her golden hair, trying to comfort her.
"This is a small matter... let’s talk..." Professor Mimam gestured with a hand, and immediately behind the two of them, the vine patterns on the red carpet swiftly grew into red roots. The roots pierced through the carpet and intertwined to form two plant-like chairs.
In no more than two seconds, two red high-back chairs, over a meter tall, were woven.
Yserine sat down adeptly, and Li Chengyi also expressed his thanks before sitting down.
"The help I provided last time was because Yserine paid a price for me to take action. That matter is now settled, and there is no need to mention it again.
Now, I hope to obtain a part of the essence of death from you for my research. As the other party in this equal exchange, you may request what you want. As long as I possess it, I will consider it," Mimam said candidly.
"Yserine’s price??"
"It was just a minor issue, no impact at all, don’t worry about it," Yserine replied.
Li Chengyi furrowed his brows, glancing at Yserine, but seeing her shake her head, indicating she didn’t want to talk about it, he didn’t press the matter.
"Essence of death... Can’t you refine it on your own?" he asked, puzzled.
"No," Mimam shook his head. "Power has its resistances. The essence of death is a special force that can only be captured between life and death. It’s easier to grasp in certain environments. But now... that environment has vanished. I’ve been there once, and it’s completely destroyed; there’s nothing left."
"...." Li Chengyi felt a pang in his heart. He had doubts about the other’s previous inability to discover it and guessed that perhaps they were too afraid to go...
"Even so, with your abilities, it’s unlikely you couldn’t find some death energy to study, right?"
"Indeed." Professor Mimam nodded, "But I’ve heard that you also found quite a few spells related to the use of death energy there?"
"A little, but not much."
"What are your conditions for trading that knowledge?" Professor Mimam asked.
"What do you know about the Blind Spot?" Li Chengyi suddenly changed the subject.
"Blind Spot... that’s knowledge from beyond the threshold, acquiring it requires a price, and we generally refer to such knowledge as forbidden. This kind of knowledge can’t be taught, can’t be recorded, and possesses a strong uniqueness."
"Forbidden knowledge?" Li Chengyi seemed to understand why he couldn’t explain everything he saw to Xindela.
"I know what you want to ask." Professor Mimam smiled, "You’re wondering how to completely escape the Blind Spot, correct?"
"You guessed right." Li Chengyi nodded seriously.
"Then, are you prepared to pay the price?" The smile in Professor Mimam’s eyes faded.
"What kind of price? Can I know in advance?" Li Chengyi asked quickly, a chill striking his heart.
"Information itself represents change; some information can lead to massive changes. To rashly alter reality inevitably results in significant backlash. I do not know what price you will pay, but these are the conditions of forbidden knowledge." Professor Mimam carefully studied Li Chengyi. "However, it seems you’ve only recently entered the domain of forbidden knowledge, just paid the price, learning a little more, should be, relatively insignificant... perhaps..."
Hearing the professor’s somewhat uncertain tone, Li Chengyi couldn’t help feeling a bit apprehensive.
But since he had come, he had to understand the answer to this question.
Compared to the materials for the Imprint, escaping the Blind Spot was his core objective.
"It’s okay, please tell me!" He still had two Crescent Moons; he didn’t believe he couldn’t withstand it!
Professor Mimam glanced at him, seemingly noticing the Crescent Moon on his collarbone.
"All right... Based on the principle of equivalent exchange, I cannot tell you the principle, you probably wouldn’t understand if I did. But I can tell you the method."
"What method?"
"Go and seek," Professor Mimam said quietly, "Seek the correct one."
What does that mean?
Li Chengyi was utterly baffled.
"Can you put it more simply?" He seemed to have a vague guess.
"Simply put, you Blind Spot Individuals are errors that need to be erased, destined to be forgotten by history, turned to ash. But this represents only one possibility," Professor Mimam said.
"Among the countless Blind Spots, there is always one where you don’t need to become a Blind Spot Individual. Find it, and the method to break free from the Blind Spot is there."
"That Blind Spot may be dangerous, safe, mysterious, desolate, or even already destroyed. But for you, it’s unique. Find it, guide it back to the correct path. That’s what you must do."
"I think I understand..." Li Chengyi took a deep breath, "In simple terms, we Blind Spot Individuals are dust discarded by the world. Instead of saying the Blind Spot drags us down, it’s more like the world has given up on us?"
"You could say that," Professor Mimam nodded. "In reality, you’re not needed, but in some Blind Spots that resonate with you, you’re the most important. Find it, guide it to the right path, and you’ll be able to completely break free from the entanglement of the Blind Spot."
"Like Yserine?"
"Like Yserine."
