Chapter 375: Imprint 343 Three
Reality.
Li Chengyi’s vision slowly became clear.
He was still standing in the underground testing chamber of the company headquarters, surrounded by all sorts of instruments maintaining surveillance.
Walls with special properties and force field blockades were all around.
As for the City of the Death Angels, the Blind Spot, Li Chengyi felt that no matter how much attention he paid to it, it could never be too much.
The center of the white testing chamber.
The moment his figure appeared, red warning lights started flashing around him.
"Warning! An anomalous energy field has entered the testing zone!"
"Warning! The automated monitoring system will soon initiate the sweep mode."
"Sir, you are carrying an anomalous energy field. Do you need it to be cleared immediately?" The voice of AI Rose echoed in Li Chengyi’s ears.
The communicator in his ear canal had also returned to normal.
Li Chengyi’s brow knitted as he carefully observed his surroundings.
Only then did he notice a Skeleton in a white cloak, floating in mid-air to his left, seemingly stunned and not yet reacting to the change of location.
’A Wraith!?’ His expression turned severe.
On reflex, he was about to purify it with the Radiance Field.
But suddenly, a thought crossed his mind.
"No!"
"Before, monsters have approached me, but how come they couldn’t come out then and now they can!?"
Looking at the Wraith in front of him, dazed and confused, Li Chengyi thought this might be a rare opportunity.
He had never seen a Wraith in the real world before.
And now, this thing suddenly appeared... maybe...
He took two steps forward, walking around the Wraith.
The Wraith was draped in a white cloak full of the marks of time, tattered, with holes and stains. It looked like it hadn’t been changed in many years.
Underneath the cloak, Li Chengyi reached out to lift it but found his fingers passing directly through, unable to touch it?
"What form does this thing exist in this world?"
Suddenly, the Wraith seemed to react.
Sizzle!
It opened its mouth, emitting a noise as grating as nails on a chalkboard.
Spreading its claws, it lunged toward Li Chengyi, the closest target.
In an instant, a blazing force field covered it, pinning the Wraith in mid-air.
Ah!
It shrieked, like some kind of bird, its body igniting with white flames.
Within two seconds, the flames died, and it turned into a pile of white ash, falling to the ground.
"Very weak."
Li Chengyi commented softly.
"It is weak. After all, it is a monster from the lowest level of records." The doors to the testing chamber opened slowly.
Xindela entered, walking leisurely with her cane.
"Are you hurt?" She noticed the broken Armor on Li Chengyi and the traces of blood on his body.
"In the City of the Death Angels, it seems my difficulty is different from others..." Li Chengyi nodded, his face equally solemn.
"After you mentioned that Blind Spot, I immediately looked up related information. Also, because of our close relationship with the Li Family, we’ve received quite a few confidential files from government departments," Xindela said, "I have some information about Angels that I need to share with you."
"Good!" Li Chengyi knew Xindela was not one to make a big deal out of nothing.
If she made a special trip over, it meant that the information might be very important.
After carefully collecting the Wraith’s ashes, the two left the testing chamber and headed to the executive office on the ground level.
In the office, there was a large book on the table that Li Chengyi found somewhat familiar.
Black with silver edges, at the center of the cover a flame pattern, inlaid with special emerald fragments.
It looked quite luxurious.
"This is the scripture of the Sect of the Death Angel. Many years ago, those Blind Spot Individuals who came out of the City of the Death Angels passed on their faith to ordinary people. These common people gradually formed a sect, the Sect of the Death Angel," Xindela explained.
Li Chengyi picked it up and flipped through it; it was all in White Star Language. He hadn’t had the chance to learn White Star Language yet, just glanced at it sporadically, so he didn’t understand most of the text.
"It contains doctrines persuading people to yearn for death. The sect’s main principle is to tell people that not all deaths are equal.
The more splendid and significant the death, the more it will be admired by the Death Angels, and thus one can enter the Kingdom of Death.
Since they condemn suicide, regarding self-sacrifice of life as the act of cowards and inferior souls, when they first emerged, they significantly reduced the suicide rates in many countries.
This also led to their being recognized as a legitimate sect for a while. Until a hundred years ago, they orchestrated a grand death celebration, resulting in the death of all two hundred thirty-five participants.
That’s when the sect was deemed heretical and was expelled and eradicated by all countries."
"What does this have to do with my current situation?" Li Chengyi frowned.
"How were you injured?" Xindela asked.
"I encountered an extremely perverse Angel statue. My Flower Language Ability had no effect on it, and my body’s enhancements were far inferior to it. I was injured within a few minutes of fighting." Li Chengyi responded succinctly.
"From this scripture, I found that the Kingdom of Death has four major order guardians. The first is the Balance Angel, the most common individuals there. They can be seen everywhere, constantly balancing everything within, and there, death is the only balance."
"...So they’re essentially guards?" Li Chengyi’s face twitched, those Balance Angels’ strength was at least close to Grade Eight, and that was just the basic level??
