Chapter 344: 318 Trouble two

Having confirmed that the Book of Distortion most likely existed within Elsa’s hallucinations, Li Chengyi immediately contacted Rose and reached The Garden at the dock, preparing to leave.

Instead of wasting time here, it would be better to just kidnap her and take her back, to slowly figure out a way to extract the Book of Distortion.

Chen Jiahan spent twenty minutes selecting the primary flower, then followed Li Chengyi, carrying the unconscious Elsa with them, ready to board the departing pleasure boat.

The two of them turned a deaf ear to the comings and goings around the islands near Nashi. As long as they achieved their main goal, everything else was a mere detail.

On board The Garden at the dock.

Haini was the first to rush over when she heard the news, and saw the departing Li Chengyi at the side of the ship.

"Why are you suddenly leaving?" A look of reluctance filled her expression.

"I have to leave," Li Chengyi said sincerely. "Have you heard about the enemies who came to the island? They were here for me."

"Just some minor troubles. I told you I would ensure your safety," Haini said earnestly.

"This is my trouble, and I can’t implicate you all. If I leave, they will stop coming to the island," Li Chengyi said helplessly.

"You... what exactly are you..." Haini gazed at Li Chengyi. In fact, she had wanted to ask about his identity since the first wave of Utopia’s people attacked, but she hadn’t asked until now.

"At this point, as long as I leave, all the trouble will disappear," Li Chengyi answered.

"If you want to take this ship back, then halfway, you’ll be sunk," Haini said softly. "My people have found out that the entire island is surrounded by ships filled with Reinforced Humans. You can’t get out now."

Upon hearing this, Li Chengyi frowned and thought for a moment.

"I’ll find a way, but no matter what, I can’t drag you into this."

"Our siblings have many businesses on this island. If you don’t mind, I have a pretty good safe haven where you can hide. Those people outside won’t be able to find you, and they should leave soon," Haini urged.

It had been over two hundred years, and she had never felt as moved as she did now. Even though she knew that the other party would bring her trouble.

But no matter what, she did not want him to leave like this.

"Don’t worry. My brother and I will think of a solution to help you smooth this over. No matter how arrogant those people are, they can’t surround this island for long.

Not to mention, the nearby countries wouldn’t allow such a violent incident to occur here," Haini comforted.

"I really don’t know how to thank you, Haini," Li Chengyi sincerely looked into her eyes.

Their gazes locked, and for a moment, all was silent.

The distance between their faces slowly closed, growing closer and closer.

Boom!!

Suddenly, an explosion reverberated from the side of a distant island.

The explosion startled the two of them; Haini quickly pulled away.

Her flushed face slowly faded as she glanced toward the direction of the explosion, a hint of coldness flashing in her eyes.

She immediately took Li Chengyi and the others back to the island, entering a hidden safe spot of the Eternal Song Association through a hole in the forest.

The two of them remained silent all the way.

After settling Li Chengyi in, Haini returned to the surface.

By then, a silver-haired old man in a dark red robe was quietly waiting.

"Remondo, go take a look. Deal with those troublemakers on the island as soon as possible. I don’t want people constantly disturbing me and my elder brother," Haini said with a flash of anger in her beautiful eyes.

"Understood. But..." As the strongest singer under the Haini siblings, Remondo was also a combined entity of a Reinforced Human and a Feiyi Master. He was the person with the most information within the entire Eternal Song Association.

"But what?" Haini frowned.

"We can preliminarily confirm that the invaders are Whisperer models from Utopia," Remondo answered. "In other words, we are most likely facing people from Utopia now."

Utopia??!

Haini’s body shuddered.

One of the most notorious terrorist organizations in the entire Earth-Moon region, ranking high on the government lists of all countries.

The opponent they were dealing with was such a troublesome character!? What in the world was her elder brother...

"Vice president, how should we proceed with the situation now?" Remondo asked again.

"Proceed with what? What else can you do?" Haini didn’t respond, but another voice did.

All of a sudden, a multitude of Ash mechanized bodies appeared rapidly from around the woods, encircling them completely.

A large Reinforced Human body, half human and half horse with antlers on its head, slowly approached from amongst the group of Ash bodies.

It was none other than the Blood Swallow of Utopia, who had just been on the beach.

Thud.

A charred black body was carelessly thrown to the ground by Blood Swallow.

The body still clung to a burnt red robe, which was unmistakably that of the Eternal Song Association poet leader who had recently attempted to intercept them.

Seeing the smoking carcass on the ground, both Haini and Remondo’s complexions changed.

Anger, ferocity, and a murderous intent, all dyed their eyes a dark red in an instant.

"You’re seeking death!!!!!"

A delicate blood-red Feiyi dagger flew out from Haini’s body in an instant.

Swish.

The dagger created a streak of lightning mid-air, appearing like Instantaneous Movement at the center of Blood Swallow’s chest.

Blood Swallow tried to break free but suddenly stiffened.

A massive gravitational field, along with the dagger, crashed onto her with force.

The addition of several dozen times the gravity caused a miscalculation in her energy module’s output.

Consequently, her defensive force field was instantly weakened.

Boom!!

The blood-colored dagger, like a missile, struck Blood Swallow, sending her soaring into the air, blasting far into the distance behind her.

Tree after tree was broken by the impact, and Blood Swallow’s chest was pierced with a large blood-red hole.

"Bai Lu!!" Blood Swallow roared, her body lighting up with a blinding white glow, turning the surrounding bodies white.

Within the white light, trails of white missiles with fiery tails shot out from around her chest, exploding at four times the speed of sound towards Haini, who was in hot pursuit.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Continuous explosions.

Blood Swallow grabbed the surrounding trees with both hands, quickly decelerating to a stop.

"Activate magnetic field scanning,"

"Sage Bai Lu mode activated," a calm electronic synthesized voice rang out.

A hazy halo of light spread out in all directions from Blood Swallow, as if it were a soap bubble being blown up incessantly.

This was a mechanism from Red Temple’s Grade Six: the Sage Bai Lu unit. It was vastly more powerful than units like the Whisperer.

This spreading halo was a special radiant light that not only served to scan but also to cause biological and mechanical bodies to experience temporary disorientation.

"Is this all you’ve got?" Haini’s figure burst into the halo like lightning, ignoring the radiation, and with one clawed hand, grabbed Blood Swallow’s throat head-on.

The tremendous force and impact from her speed caused her to slam Blood Swallow against a tree trunk behind them.

The tree trunk burst apart, toppling down as Blood Swallow tried to raise her hands in a struggle, reaching for Haini.

Hum!

A pure white column of light silently appeared beside Haini, aimed precisely at her waist.

Hissss!

The column of light instantly penetrated the protective field and streaked through Haini’s waist.

Ahhh!!!!

A piercing scream spread through the air.

Haini snapped Blood Swallow’s neck in one move and turned to flick her hand backwards.

Swish!

A blood-red dagger shot out, heading towards the direction from which the column of light had come.

A section of Haini’s waist was scorched, leaving a bloody hole.

The excruciating pain made her lose her composure, and she immediately used her Flying Yi to attack the assailant.

Clang!

Before the dagger could get close, it was slowed by an invisible force, gradually losing speed as it flew.

Eventually, the Flying Yi slowed down to a hundred meters per second.

The dagger was casually swatted away by someone, spiralling towards the distance.

"There are some indigenous wild animals on this island that have cost me quite a bit of manpower," said the comer, wearing glasses with an academic air that made him look like a scholarly professor specialising in the humanities.

"Having the strength to repel and kill Blood Swallow and the others is not bad. Too bad, if it weren’t for now, we might have become friends in normal times," said another person, a one-eyed woman wearing a beret, lightly jumping down from the tree branch and landing firmly, standing up.

"Minister Li is correct," the scholarly man smiled. "This appears to be an Immortal who has escaped. Perhaps taking her back to Red Temple could spark new ideas for the laboratory."

"You!" Haini gradually felt a sense of dread and began retreating step by step.

Not far from her, Remondo lay struggling with his chest pierced by more than a dozen black holes, smoke billowing from him, unable to move at all.

"I always said, don’t act rashly, think before you act!!"

Swish!

A figure suddenly appeared, standing between Haini and the two from Utopia.

This position was perfect to completely separate Haini from the two people of Utopia.

"Run, Haini!" The newcomer wore a dark red T-shirt, holding a silver-edged red hatchet with electric arcs jumping on it. It was Lekra.

The hatchet was covered with dense module fractures constantly shifting.

"Brother...!" Haini gritted her teeth and turned to run quickly away.

Her brother was much stronger than her. She believed he would definitely get out safely.

At a time like this, the most crucial thing was to not hold him back.

After running a distance, she hesitated for a moment but still quickly made a call to Li Chengyi.

Inside the Eternal Song Association’s underground base.

Li Chengyi glanced at the vibrating phone.

The base had connections to an entire network of passages within the island.

He was now leading Elsa and Chen Jiahan, following a member of the Eternal Song Association they had taken control of, along the underground network, boarding a small amphibious craft at an underground dock to make their escape.

This was an escape method prepared by Haini and her sibling for themselves, but at this moment, it was seized by Li Chengyi and his companions.

A dark gray shuttle-shaped craft slowly left the dock, shooting towards the dark depths of the ocean.

Both of them stood on the deck of the ship, looking out at the schools of fish moving around through the transparent force shield.

"Aren’t you answering?" Chen Jiahan, holding Elsa in one arm, asked in a low voice. He too had seen the caller ID on the phone.

"The goal has been achieved; she is no longer of any use to us," replied Li Chengyi.

The trip had been a complete success.

They had found the carrier of the ’Book of Distortion’ and had managed to avoid the encirclement and pursuit of Utopia.

"That’s cold-hearted. The woman seemed quite fond of you, didn’t she?" Chen Jiahan raised an eyebrow.

"You think that was fondness?" Li Chengyi laughed. "A so-called love that sprouts and flourishes in twenty-four hours? Do you believe that?"

"I don’t," Chen Jiahan shook his head. "I was just curious, wanting to know, what her reaction would be when she realizes she’s been deceived."

Li Chengyi thought for a moment.

"You make a good point. I am curious as well," he said.

He picked up the phone and pressed the answer call button.
