Chapter 342: 316 investigates four

"Minister Bill has just been promoted and taken over Division Five, eager to prove himself, which is understandable. They should have made contact with those ambushers from Yi Country by now, right?" the woman said in a deep voice.

"No movement has been reported, so I guess they haven’t made a move. Perhaps we can resolve the matters here and retreat before they do, minimizing our losses," the scholarly-looking man said calmly.

He appeared to be in his early thirties with black hair constantly tousled by the sea breeze, his gaze even more serene and leisurely than the woman’s.

It seemed that coming here to strangle Destiny wasn’t a troublesome affair, just an insignificant outing.

And it indeed was.

Dispatching two ministers at once against a mere Destiny, the strength arrangement was obviously excessive.

Chen Zonghan, although also a minister, was previously wounded by a Grade Nine Jiu Yi, and even in such a state, he managed to inflict considerable injuries on Destiny before his death.

Chen Zonghan’s strength was still below that of the two ministers currently dispatched.

In Utopia, he was ranked eleventh.

"Minister Li, how about you take the lead this time?" the scholarly man turned to his companion and asked in a probing tone.

"Destiny’s strength is somewhat peculiar, but its essential energy level is not high, and it’s not fast. Dealing with such an opponent, Minister Charlie is more suitable," the woman with white hair and one eye countered with a hooked corner of her mouth.

"True, that technology capable of intercepting lasers is indeed powerful. But such techniques can’t possibly be used frequently, so against this kind of opponent, my laser weapon module is indeed more appropriate," the scholarly man said, nodding in agreement.

"Destiny is strong in close combat, and some modules have strong misleading and deceptive disturbance capabilities, so try not to engage in one-on-one close combat with him," the white-haired woman advised.

"No worries, my students will assist from the side," Scholar Charlie said with a smile.

This siege was naturally not just a matter of bringing some fully developed forces.

Similarly, for convenience in managing the aftermath and other tasks such as interference, this siege had mobilized at least four departments, bringing half of the combat power.

In addition to the ships on their side, submarines were silently approaching from three other directions around the island, preparing to land.

"However, it is strange that we’ve lost contact with the personnel on the island; they have not sent any signals. Our reconnoiterers also went silent soon after landing on the island," Scholar Charlie said with confusion.

"Perhaps they’ve been discovered," the white-haired, one-eyed woman said with a laugh, unconcerned. "Blood Swallow, take some of your brothers to the island for a look. Keep it quiet; don’t make a big fuss. If Destiny and the Garden of Fate have spotted us, they won’t stay put."

Behind her, a black shadow flashed into existence, bowing respectfully.

"Yes, Teacher," a crisp female voice emanated from the shadow.

"Prioritize observation, don’t act rashly. Wait for all our forces to arrive before taking action," the white-haired woman instructed.

This time, their two divisions had come together, bringing at least a hundred Whisperer units, in addition to herself and Charlie as the ministers, each accompanied by four students.

This force, in many small countries, was even sufficient to topple governments.

It was several times more powerful than the forces mobilized during the time of Chaoyu.

She couldn’t believe that Destiny could escape from this encirclement again.

Inside Elsa’s illusion.

Li Chengyi stood in front of that triangular piece, as large as a bathtub.

It contained Elsa’s illusion of a secret chamber at home.

"Is there really a secret chamber here?" Li Chengyi asked, looking at the image inside the fragment, surprised.

"This place is on the second floor, and moreover, it’s opposite the outer wall outside the bedroom. Brother, what do you think is beyond the outer wall?" Yserine said, helpless.

"Ah... it’s mid-air. It seems it truly is just a secret chamber that exists within the illusion," Li Chengyi said, somewhat embarrassed.

A mysterious secret chamber that existed only in Elsa’s illusion, which remained completely still and undisturbed even during the recent purification.

It seemed that the fragment was very suspicious...

Without hesitation, Li Chengyi gave a light tap with the tip of his foot and leaped toward the fragment.

Plop.

In the blink of an eye, he had jumped into the fragment.

The scenery around him changed rapidly.

By the time he came to his senses, he found himself in a spacious, dimly lit rectangular secret chamber.

The chamber was lined with grayish-black walls covered in all sorts of strange and mysterious symbols.

The floor was littered with bizarre metallic objects, resembling dry bones.

The only table in the room had an open book on it, from which eerie shadows flickered under candlelight.

It was only an arm’s length away from Li Chengyi.

He could reach out and grab it.

But, after the recent lesson, if the book was indeed a Book of Distortion, he didn’t think he could easily take it.

Swoosh.

Li Chengyi quickly reached out, trying to grab the book in an instant and make his getaway.

But suddenly, the candlestick on the side bent violently, the white candle melting in an instant and forming into a large hand, which viciously grasped at Li Chengyi’s palm.

Bang!

As the two hands collided, Li Chengyi’s pupils flickered.

Invisible swords swiftly gathered around him, forming a massive Sword of Wisdom that slashed fiercely at the candle hand.

However, mysteriously, the Sword of Wisdom and the large hand exploded in a shower of sparks, retreating from each other.

"What the hell!?" Li Chengyi was well aware of his Sword of Wisdom’s power at that moment—the large Sword of Wisdom wouldn’t even withstand his own Wisteria Floral Dress, and it had the force of at least a Grade Six.

Yet now, it couldn’t even cut through this candle-formed large hand?

Was Elsa’s illusion a bit too absurd?

"The power of the Book of Distortion?" He immediately realized.

Elsa was an ordinary person without such power; it must have been the Book of Distortion itself that blocked the Sword of Wisdom.

Without delay, Li Chengyi extended his hand again, attempting to take the mysterious book from different angles, but it was thwarted in every direction by the candle hand.

It was odd that no matter how he attacked, his efforts would be perfectly intercepted. Even the Flower Language Technique had no effect on this object.

"Brother, Elsa’s consciousness is fading, her life signs are diminishing, and at most, she has ten minutes left before she’s completely dead," Yserine’s voice echoed in his mind.

"I’ve found something that seems to be the Book of Distortion, but I can’t take it," Li Chengyi said, frowning.

"It seems that a special method is required to take her away. I’ve noticed that every time you make a move, brother, Elsa’s presence rapidly weakens significantly. It’s likely the power she wields is intertwined with a blind spot," Yserine explained.

"We should withdraw for now, at least we have a rough idea of how to proceed," Li Chengyi sighed.

Hiss.

In an instant, everything around began to twist, fade, blur, until it vanished.

Darkness enveloped them once again.

After waiting a few seconds in the dark.

Li Chengyi suddenly opened his eyes, finding himself still seated by the bed, holding Elsa’s hand.

At this moment, Elsa was barely breathing, her complexion pale as death, she appeared to be on her last breath.

He reached out and remotely targeted her, unleashing the Radiance Field.

Under the exaggerated pace of recovery, Elsa’s complexion visibly returned to ruddiness.

"Let’s go," Li Chengyi stood up.

He exited the room.

Downstairs in the living room, Chen Jiahan was already waiting.

"Sir, I have fully investigated the situation on the island," he said.

"Let’s hear it," Li Chengyi said as he descended the stairs. Peering through the window at the concealed agents of the Eternal Song Association, a thought flickered in his mind.

"Yes," Chen Jiahan bowed and reported. "The dominant power on the island is the Eternal Song Association. Using hypnotic martial arts techniques, I’ve discovered that the Eternal Song Association is not only the largest martial group here but also the main hallucinogenic drug supplier. Their history is quite ancient, dating back at least fifty years."

"I’m already aware of this," Li Chengyi recalled the documents he had read before.

What Chen Jiahan said matched what Haini had told him.

"Then there’s the people from the Ethics Committee. The Committee often sends investigators to monitor and investigate the Eternal Song Association. They seem to be constantly tracking the power behind the scenes of the Association.

After gaining support from the intelligence provided by Roses, I’ve looked into the last fifty years of events, and there have been no less than a hundred conflicts between the Eternal Song Association and the Ethics Committee, with wins and losses on both sides. Neither party is weak."

"Oh?" Li Chengyi was taken aback. "According to international danger assessments, how powerful is the Eternal Song Association?"

"It’s unclear, but according to past cases, they have assassinated a Grade Six Feiyi Master dispatched by the Ethics Committee. The details of their true strength remain unknown," Chen Jiahan answered.

"Interesting..." A smirk formed at the corner of Li Chengyi’s mouth.

The mysterious and powerful Eternal Song Association, and the relentless Ethics Committee tangled for over fifty years—what drives the Ethics Committee’s persistent pursuit?

He was familiar with the background of the organization.

The Ethics Committee was a global united organization jointly established by Yi Country and White Star.

Its main purpose is to investigate and deal with any serious ethical violations worldwide.

Typically, only international culprits who simultaneously breach the laws of all countries are investigated by them.

So, what could be the reason for the investigation into the Eternal Song Association?

"Sir, what is our next move? The sentinels from Utopia have been dealt with by the island’s Eternal Song Association, as far as I have traced," Chen Jiahan inquired.

"Looks like Haini, regardless of her reasons, is having us protected. At least we don’t have to worry about our safety for now. You continue to investigate quietly and adapt to the enhanced physical abilities as quickly as possible. If I’m not mistaken, a tough fight is coming up," Li Chengyi spoke softly.

According to his estimate, Utopia’s people were bound to arrive soon.

Having their grand schemes spoiled by Yi Country, they wouldn’t miss this chance for revenge. If they didn’t retaliate fiercely this time, Utopia could no longer maintain its reputation internationally.

"Then, Sir, do we need to join Haini and take action?" Chen Jiahan asked.

"No rush, let her take the front," Li Chengyi smiled.

He had no particular fondness for the Eternal Song Association—indiscriminate killing, drug trafficking; now using them to block Utopia’s people worked to his advantage.

Moreover, he didn’t believe for a second that Haini would go to such lengths for him due to a ridiculous reason like love at first sight.

After all, they had only known each other for a few days, and their time spent together was even shorter.

Would Haini really oppose another large organization for someone she had just met for a few days?

The idea was implausible.

Thus, Li Chengyi deduced that Haini and her brother probably had a hidden agenda.

Although he didn’t know their goals, they were certainly not as simple as Haini made it seem—just acting on a whim because of a crush was out of the question.

Near the island’s seascape.

One after another, gray figures silently emerged on a deserted beach of the island.

Leading them were several individuals clad in black metallic armor, with eight mechanical arms extending from their backs—anomalies known as Reinforced Humans.

This was the military model from Red Temple—Spider Demon.

A model that was two grades higher than the Whisperer, designed for close combat.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, a large, dark humanoid figure appeared on the beach.

The figure had the metallic head of a stag and the lower body of a centaur with four limbs touching the ground.

Antler-like spikes branched from its head, with occasional red arcs of electricity flickering between them.

Clearly, the antlers were not meant only for charging at others; they served additional purposes.

"Blood Swallow," all other Reinforced Humans bowed their heads to the humanoid figure.

"Prepare to block surrounding communications, locate the target, eliminate him," a clear female voice spoke from the centaur-like Blood Swallow.

"Yes!"

Nine fully developed forms responded in unison.

As Blood Swallow turned to lead the advance onto the island,

suddenly she halted, and the detectors in her eyes flashed red.

"Show yourself."

From the island’s woods, figures over two meters tall with blood-red forms were slowly opening their eyes, gazing in their direction.
