Chapter 337 - 311 Island Three

Chapter 337: 311 Island Three

"Blind Spot transformation." Yserine decisively spoke this keyword.

"....."

Li Chengyi had guessed that it was this: Blind Spot transformation, which is the final path chosen by the Blind Spot Individual only when they can’t hold on any longer.

It is to merge with a Blind Spot that fits oneself, becoming a part of it; this is what Blind Spot transformation is.

Essentially, it is about giving up everything one has in reality and seeking a way to survive.

Li Chengyi had seen many people who had undergone Blind Spot transformation, including those monsters he encountered before and the boy in white at the Grecius Parking Garage in the beginning.

They were all living people who had been transformed by the Blind Spot.

But there’s a major problem with Blind Spot transformation.

"I don’t want to continue living in such a muddled state," Li Chengyi said.

"Blind Spot transformation... if arranged properly, can also retain most of one’s consciousness," Yserine still wanted to persuade him.

"No need, that’s not the path I want," Li Chengyi refused.

From the beginning to now, all the people he had seen who had undergone Blind Spot transformation had lost part of themselves.

They existed in the Blind Spots in a broken way, merely struggling to survive, nothing more.

Seeing Li Chengyi’s refusal, Yserine sighed and said no more.

"Alright, I already have a specific method here. As long as you are willing, brother, I can help. We could live together in Tightening Grasp..."

"Enough. Tell me about the situation here. You mentioned that there is an extremely dangerous Blind Spot here, what do you mean?" Li Chengyi changed the subject.

The room he was standing in was quiet at the moment; the surrounding silence was unbroken, sunlight shone through the windows, landing on the chairs, and on the surface of his boots.

There didn’t seem to be any atmosphere of a Blind Spot here, yet Yserine said there’s an extremely dangerous Blind Spot hidden away?

"If I’m not mistaken, the clues to the Hall of Oblivion you are searching for are likely hidden here. It’s just... this Blind Spot is a bit special; it appears very difficult to enter..."

"Difficult to enter?" Li Chengyi felt it, even as a High-Frequency Blinker like him hadn’t noticed; it must be even harder for other Blind Spot Individuals to detect.

"Yes, this Blind Spot is more like some sort of locked box, you can’t find the entrance, and it must be accessed through a special method of decryption, different from many open Blind Spots," Yserine said, "Additionally, I just discovered that when that woman named Elsa stood behind you, the Blind Spot atmosphere here was very active; now that she’s left, it has returned to calm. Clearly, there is a deep connection between her and this Blind Spot."

Elsa?

Li Chengyi contemplated.

He strolled around the room, carefully inspecting every area. But aside from some inexplicable scratches, he found nothing.

"Miss Elsa."

He turned and left the bedroom to search for Elsa in the living room, hoping to ask some questions.

But the living room was quiet, no one was there, nor were there any impressions on the sofa indicating someone had sat there.

Li Chengyi frowned slightly and quickly scanned the surroundings.

Suddenly, he sniffed, as if detecting a bizarre smell of smoke.

Following the smoke smell upstairs, he quickly stopped in front of a room with an opened door.

The room was empty, with a thick black carpet on the floor. Elsa had changed into a black chiffon dress and was lying on the carpet, holding a smoking pipe, her eyes half-closed and continuously drawing from the red strands of smoke inside the pipe.

Light blue smoke drifted from the head of the pipe, spreading the odd smell that Li Chengyi had just detected.

"Ah... visitor... Have you finished looking? If you’re done, leave the money and go. I’m not in a position to see you out right now, not in a position..." Elsa spoke feebly, with a dazedness and a gaze that seemed to drift off.

Is this... drugs?

Li Chengyi carefully identified it and realized he did not recognize the red strands at all.

"Want some?" Elsa saw Li Chengyi standing at the doorway without leaving, so she lifted her smoking pipe and offered it to him.

"Thanks, but I’ll take my leave now," Li Chengyi left two coins, stood up, and turned to leave.

"Wait, brother!" Suddenly, Yserine’s voice sounded again.

"What is it?"

"That woman...! Ask her what she’s smoking," Yserine said.

Li Chengyi paused mid-step, turned back, and looked at Elsa.

"May I ask, what is that smoke strand you are using? It doesn’t seem to be any brand I’ve seen on the market?"

"It’s Miringbell Grass... I made the tobacco myself, and it tastes incredibly good. Do you want some?" Elsa casually raised her hand, shaking the smoking pipe in it.

Miringbell Grass...

A completely unfamiliar plant.

Li Chengyi searched his memory for information he knew, but found nothing.

He nodded in thanks, turned to go downstairs, and left Elsa’s house.

When he reached the fence exit, he paused and looked back at the second floor, at the place where Elsa was smoking.

"That smoke strand... is poisonous," he communicated to Yserine in his mind. "I inhaled a bit and already felt somewhat uncomfortable; it would be even harder on her as a Common person."

"Brother, I found that when that woman Elsa was smoking, the aura on her and the Blind Spot aura on the first floor were very close. I suspect she is using this special method to quietly contact that mysterious Blind Spot," Yserine said.

"Can Common people contact it too? She isn’t a Blind Spot Individual, right?" Li Chengyi expressed his surprise.

"There’s a way, if one adjusts their consciousness frequency to repeatedly approach the Blind Spot frequency, there’s a chance to become a Blind Spot Individual and enter. It’s just that few people would be so foolish to do so," Yserine explained.

Li Chengyi understood; indeed, if people could experiment with Blind Spots, then naturally there could be a way to create Blind Spot Individuals. It was simply that he didn’t know the method.

"Regardless, this Elsa must be hiding something," Yserine said. "Ordinary people can’t detect it, but since I can sense the existence of the Blind Spot and her anomalies, her little tricks can’t stay concealed from me." "Brother, if you come a few more times, you might discover even more."

"Mm."

Li Chengyi gave an affirmative reply and turned to leave.

Back at the Red Dolphin Hotel on the mountain, in his room, Chen Jiahan was having a meal with a tall woman who had many braids.

"Who is she?" Li Chengyi asked, surprised.

"Yang Chengxi, one of the pirate leaders around here," Chen Jiahan introduced. "She’s one of the survivors from that batch of pirates who were on the Kajadela Ship."

"Why did you save her?" Li Chengyi was puzzled.

"I was wandering around the island and saw some wild animals attacking her, so I saved her on impulse," Chen Jiahan replied.

"A pirate, what is she doing here? Just kill her," Li Chengyi said indifferently.

"!!??" Yang Chengxi almost spat out the food she was chewing in her mouth. She eagerly swallowed and stood up to look at Li Chengyi.

"Don’t kill me!! I can trade my life for secret information! I’m a pirate active around here, I know a lot about the local islands!"

"You know everything?" Li Chengyi was intrigued. "Do you know of a tobacco called Miringbell Grass?"

"Miringbell Grass? I know that, we call it ’mabaga.’ It’s a cheap herb that can induce hallucinogenic sensations," Yang Chengxi quickly replied.

"Have you used it?" Li Chengyi inquired.

"Er... I’ve tried a bit, but I don’t like the feeling," Yang Chengxi shook her head. "After using it, it’s like the whole world shatters into pieces, then becomes whole again, then starts to break again. Many things I see with my eyes, I can’t tell if they are whole or shattered. It’s very uncomfortable."

"Shattered..." Li Chengyi was taken aback, recalling what Yserine mentioned about Elsa and the association with the Blind Spot on the first floor.

And recalling the phrase he saw in the pseudo Blue Book.

At the end of oblivion, the shattered edge...

There seemed to be some connection...

Thinking this, Li Chengyi quickly sent a query to Rainbow Candy, but there was no response from that side.

After a few seconds, ai Rose automatically took over the reply, leaving a message saying Rainbow Candy had entered the Blind Spot and hadn’t come out yet.

Li Chengyi frowned and hung up the phone.

He seemed to have found some connection. ’Oblivion’ could refer to the use of hallucinogenic drugs or it could mean The Fallen Clan.

And ’shattered’ could describe the scenes seen in a hallucination.

So where is the Hall of Oblivion?

And what does it have to do with these two?

He directly asked Elsa, who clearly responded that she didn’t know.

The clues stopped there entirely.

He could understand now why so many people had come before and couldn’t find out anything.

"Do you know if there are any strange rumors or legends on this island?" Li Chengyi asked.

Yang Chengxi shook her head.

"I’ve never heard of any. The people on this island are just old men and women waiting to die. Who would come to such a place for no reason?"

"If we really can’t find anything, how about we capture some of these residents on the island and try coercing or torturing them for information? Maybe we could find something useful," Chen Jiahan seriously suggested.

"...." Li Chengyi was at a loss for words.

He didn’t think that method would be useful.

All these years, the secret here had never been unraveled. Could he really solve it so easily in just a few days?

Wasn’t that underestimating the others?

With no leads in sight, Li Chengyi, who was soon to face a new periodic Blind Spot, pondered,

’Following the principle of proximity of the Blind Spot... perhaps I can use this inevitable principle to let the Blind Spot pull me in...’

Since the outside world had no clues, and considering the Book of Distortion was a product of the Blind Spot, it must exist within the Blind Spot, so the clues were likely in Elsa’s associated Blind Spot.

Knock knock knock.

Just as Li Chengyi was pondering how to investigate, there was a knock at the door.

"Big brother, are you there?" Haini’s voice came from outside.

"Coming." Li Chengyi walked over to open the door, revealing a smile. "What’s up?"

"Let’s go have dinner together. The beach is very cool at night, and it’s nice for a walk," Haini had changed into a pure white long dress with a big white sunhat, gently spinning, the hem of her dress lifting, light and ethereal.

"Okay."

Li Chengyi nodded. It just so happened that he remembered Haini mentioning in their casual conversation that they came to Naxi Town for vacation every year.

Perhaps he could get some clues from her as well.

"I’ll change clothes," Li Chengyi said, moving aside to reveal Yang Chengxi standing rigid in the room.

Seeing Yang Chengxi, Haini’s expression did not change, apparently seeing her for the first time. She merely glanced briefly and then looked away.

After quickly changing into a short-sleeve shirt and shorts, Li Chengyi joined Haini for a casual dinner at a beachside restaurant, then they slowly strolled along the beach.

They had walked less than a hundred meters when suddenly a perplexing tremor surged out from Li Chengyi’s chest.
