Chapter 237: Dark City 2_2

On the street.

A huge, dark figure about two meters tall was slowly making its way, seemingly patrolling and inspecting something.

With the help of the flickering streetlights around.

Li Chengyi slowly made out the shape of the figure.

It was a humanoid mass of black-green sludge!

Thick, viscous, with a faint green sheen, it looked so foul even from a distance that one could almost smell the stench.

Largely covered by patches of green mold, this humanoid sludge lumbered forward.

As it walked, it continually dragged along wet, dirty trails behind it.

It seemed to notice Li Chengyi’s scrutiny.

The Mud Monster turned in his direction, its head looking toward the clothing store.

Then it began to pick up speed, moving towards him.

"So sensitive...," Li Chengyi glanced at the tables and chairs behind him.

This place bore the traces of Lien, best not to have it damaged.

He decisively stepped out of the store, confronting the rapidly approaching Mud Monster.

Hiss!

In an instant, countless Wisteria Petals fluttered around, forming the complete Wisteria Floral Dress, covering his entire body.

Raising his hand, he aimed at the Mud Monster now only five meters away.

An invisible Radiance Field quickly enveloped it.

With Li Chengyi at its center, the ground and air within a ten-meter radius rapidly began to heat up.

Steam rose faintly from the Mud Monster’s body.

Gurgle, gurgle!

It let out a strange cry and suddenly lunged at Li Chengyi with open arms.

Its movement speed was slightly faster than a common human’s, but it was far from matching Li Chengyi’s.

He simply sidestepped to the left, dodging the monster’s lunge.

Bang!

A flash of gold shot out, piercing through the Mud Monster’s chest from behind.

That was Gladiolus’s Golden Sword.

But quickly, the hole in the Mud Monster’s chest healed itself, and it continued to charge at Li Chengyi.

’Glint Flash.’

A dazzling golden light exploded in front of the Mud Monster.

The beam of golden light carried high temperatures, slamming furiously against its entire body. Then, like golden spikes, it pierced through its body and shot toward the sky beyond.

It traveled over ten meters before fading away.

White smoke rose from the Mud Monster’s body, its large frame leaning backward, crashing into many dry clumps with a splash.

Heavy clumps mixed with the fall, pocking the road surface with small dents.

’Where did this thing come from?’ Li Chengyi frowned as he inspected the creature.

He walked forward, once again conjuring the Golden Sword in his hand, using its tip to begin slicing through the Mud Monster’s body.

First the head, which he cut open gently.

Inside was nothing but dry mud.

Then the chest, just the same, he found nothing.

Lastly the legs.

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, Li Chengyi’s hand paused.

At the midsection of the Mud Monster’s right leg, around the knee area, as his sword sliced open,

A black stone, its color distinct from the other clumps, appeared before his eyes.

He carefully picked the stone out, then covered it with the Radiance Field, intending to purify it first.

After purifying it for several seconds and ensuring there were no issues,

He finally reached out and, through the Floral Dress, grasped the stone.

’Perhaps it might be something valuable.’

Li Chengyi was about to find something to wrap the stone in,

When suddenly, a dark shadow rushed towards him from afar, closing the distance rapidly.

The shadow sped down the middle of the street like a high-speed sprinting car, but its velocity was much faster than any car’s.

From sight to proximity,

The distance of over two hundred meters was covered in just one second!

Whoosh!

At the critical moment, Li Chengyi leaped to the right.

He narrowly dodged the charging shadow.

Bang!!

The shadow skewed off course as well, attempting to pursue but lacking the right angle, it slammed into the load-bearing wall of a two-dollar shop on the street corner.

The wall shattered and broke.

The shadow stopped in its tracks, straightened up, and turned to face Li Chengyi.

Now with the streetlamp illumination, its full form could be seen more clearly.

It was a gigantic, black Armor, thick and ferocious-looking!

Inside the armor was writhing black mud, with fine wisps of black vapor steaming out of the gaps in the armor.

Overall, this was a mud monster clad in armor.

Standing nearly three meters tall and almost two meters wide, its black armor was covered in jagged spikes and appeared as if it was formed by pouring molten metal directly onto the creature.

But that wasn’t the main point.

The main point was that the armored mud monster was holding a two-meter-long, palm-width black and green heavy sword in its hand.

The heavy sword didn’t look forged but seemed more like a natural stone pillar that had grown out of the ground.

There were no clear edges, and the guard and hilt were all jagged black stone protrusions with no signs of polishing.

The blade emitted a faint green glow in the dark, clearly possessing some special effects.

Squeak!

The armored mud monster turned its head and raised its heavy sword towards Li Chengyi.

The green light on the sword began to brighten rapidly.

A palpable sense of threat surged in his heart.

Li Chengyi’s expression shifted slightly as he quickly turned to try and dodge.

Crack!

In an instant, a streak of green lightning flashed across the distance, striking him in a blink.

The speed of the lightning was so fast that Li Chengyi couldn’t react at all.

It was like a beam of light; as soon as you saw it, you were hit.

He had clearly moved from his original spot, running at least ten or more meters to an empty space on the right.

Yet the green lightning still turned and flew towards him, striking him hard.

Fizzing green arcs crazily spread and expanded over Li Chengyi’s body, immobilizing him on the spot, rendering him unable to move.

Under the effect of the electrical arcs, the Wisteria Floral Dress began to slowly show cracks.

Li Chengyi felt his heart sink; he had not been harmed, but he couldn’t move his body.

Furthermore, his muscles felt as though they had lost their strength, limp and powerless.

The effect of the green lightning far exceeded his expectations.

Soon, his body returned to normal.

’Glint Flash!’

Boom!!

A blinding golden light burst forth in an instant.

It hit the approaching armored mud monster head-on, blasting it back more than ten meters.

But the once potent Glint Flash now only caused more black vapor to rise from the monster’s surface.

Beyond that, it was of no further use.

Roar!!

It raised its head with a roar, lifting the heavy sword and swinging it hard at Li Chengyi.

’If I can’t dodge it, I’ll have to fight it head-on!’

Li Chengyi’s pupils contracted, turning into pale golden vertical slits.

Boom!

The Floral Dress on his body instantly switched to the Sunflower Dress.

Countless golden petals were still fluttering without dissipating.

A Golden Giant Hand then smashed down, accompanied by an explosive, scorching golden light, and grabbed straight for the armored mud monster.

"Die!!"

Li Chengyi’s mouth and nose exhaled sparks, his eyes red with ferocity, and he slammed down his right palm like a cannonball.

Boom!!

The giant hand and the green lightning collided in a flash.

The two didn’t interfere with each other.

The lightning quickly spread over Li Chengyi’s entire body.

Meanwhile, the Golden Giant Hand didn’t stop, and with full force driven by momentum, it smashed onto the armored mud monster.

Thud!!!

The three-meter tall body of the armored mud monster, under the Golden Giant Hand that was over five meters in diameter, was like a crisp sugar cane, toppling over with a crack.

The entire creature was grasped and pressed down, crashing into the ground like a meteorite, creating a concrete crater seven or eight meters in diameter.

Li Chengyi stood rigidly in place, paralyzed and unable to move by the green lightning.

It took several seconds before he started to recover.

He exhaled a long breath and found that the golden petals of his Sunflower Dress also showed fine cracks.

Clearly, the destructive power of the green lightning was much stronger than he imagined, and it seemed especially targeted against armored equipment.

He retracted the giant hand and quickly walked to the crater where the armored mud monster had fallen.

The monster had been thoroughly smashed, flattened into a mix of black mud and fragments of armor.

The heavy sword, glowing with that green light, had been smashed into the ground by the tremendous force, leaving just a section of the hilt above ground.

Li Chengyi’s eyes brightened as he walked over, grabbed the sword hilt, and pulled it out forcefully.

Hiss.

The heavy sword was pulled out in one go, revealing the entire blade.

’This thing... seems quite powerful...’

He weighed it, and it was about a hundred or so pounds heavy.

Casually swinging it, green lightning arcs began to naturally appear on the blade with the speed of his swings.
