Blind Spot -
Chapter 227 - 215 method Three
Chapter 227: 215 method Three
The white mouse, Bai Yi, began to tremble.
Its fur started to change from pure white to patches of gray.
Under the skin, lumps the size of fingernails began to form.
In just over ten seconds, the mouse which had just been completely normal, had grown lumps all over its back.
All of its hair turned completely gray, and its eyes gradually reddened. Its fangs became more numerous and dense.
The most exaggerated change was its spine.
The entire spine began to bend and arch upwards, with some parts even poking out of the back, revealing sharp grayish-white bone spurs.
What surprised Li Chengyi even more was Bai Yi’s size.
After the mutation, it had become twice the size it was before!
Previously, it was only the size of a palm, but now, it had reached the size of a small kitten.
Hiss!
Bai Yi’s temperament seemed to have undergone a big change as well.
It opened its mouth to reveal its sharp teeth and made a threatening hissing sound at Li Chengyi.
’Interesting...’
Li Chengyi’s pupils trembled slightly and instantly contracted into pale gold vertical slits.
He reached out and grabbed the back of Bai Yi’s neck.
The feral Bai Yi instantly stiffened, daring not to move.
’Sharper than the previous mice, and much stronger too. Has it sensed the bloodline in my essence?’
Li Chengyi surmised in his mind.
He freed up a cage specifically for Bai Yi, intending to study it closely.
To see exactly what had happened to it.
After dealing with the mutated white mouse, Li Chengyi stood up and suddenly noticed that the Mark of the Evil Flower on the back of his hand had started to glow purple again.
It was the Purple Magnolia slots lighting up.
He narrowed his eyes and gently pressed on it.
A strand of new feedback flowed through the Purple Magnolia slots into his mind; it was a supplementary explanation about the Mother of Heart.
Clearly, the Flower Language Ability was gradually being perfected and complemented, rather than being completely spelled out from the start.
’Mother of Heart: Mutation (Upon forcibly extracting the Floral Bead, the organism will undergo random mutations, significantly weakened intelligence, great depletion of life potential, and a lifespan reduction of eighty percent.)
Note: The direction of the mutations is unknown; there is a possibility of known twisted species appearing, or entirely new random life forms.’
"This...." Li Chengyi was surprised.
He had always regarded the Mother of Heart Flower Language as a tool to provide stronger power to those around him.
But now it appeared.... this mutation had great potential....
Whether used for causing trouble or for biological research, it seemed to hold high value.
With one hand petting Bai Yi, the presence emanating from Li Chengyi seemed to instill it with fear, causing it to lie down whimpering on the ground, too scared to move.
This made Li Chengyi think of a saying.
The ferocious must revere the more ferocious.
Clearly, his Shadow Dragon Bloodline had this effect.
Looking at the mutated mouse, he started to ponder how he might use this ability to achieve his goals.
’If it’s for biological research, I don’t have people I can absolutely trust to keep a secret... that’s hard to manage, and the cost of the equipment needed is extremely high, which I can’t afford.’
’Then, I just need to think of a way to make these mutated creatures work for me...’
Li Chengyi looked down at Bai Yi’s ugly little head cowering in fear beneath his hand, daring not to move a muscle.
A mere white mouse, after mutating, had inflated and grown to a size almost equal to that of a small cat, an astonishingly rapid transformation.
Releasing his grip, Li Chengyi looked at Bai Yi.
"Go forward,"
he whispered.
Bai Yi didn’t move at all.
Clearly, how could a mere white mouse understand human speech?
Li Chengyi frowned. Could it be that it could only be used for research?
’Perhaps I should find some creatures with higher intelligence, ones that can understand basic commands....’
The potential of the Flower Language Technique, Mother of Heart, indeed exceeded his expectations. The ability itself did not enhance his strength, but it had considerable potential for support.
’No matter what, first I’ll apply through Tang Zhiwei to buy a Force Field Generator, integrate it, and then see the effects. I’ll set aside the mutation for now and look into it when I get a chance.’

The next morning.
Li Chengyi went to report to Tang Zhiwei.
"You’re applying to buy the latest model of Force Field Generator?" Tang Zhiwei wasn’t surprised; every Feiyi Master would end up purchasing a Force Field Generator—it’s an inevitable step.
After all, a cumbersome exoskeleton is a huge burden for any Feiyi Master seeking agile movement.
"What level do you want?"
In the office, he swiveled his chair to face Li Chengyi and asked amiably.
This was another good opportunity for a kickback.
"What levels are available for selection?" Li Chengyi asked.
Tang Zhiwei glanced around without any change in expression, noting that it was just the two of them in the office.
Then he smiled.
"Exoskeletons and Force Field Generators are categorized based on their ability to withstand attacks from corresponding level Feiyi for one minute. There are ten defense levels in total, and levels above four are considered professional. Without a professional certificate, you can only directly purchase level three and below."
"Level three... Can you give a specific comparison?" Li Chengyi frowned.
"Here’s a protection test video for reference. I’ll send it to you." Tang Zhiwei took out his phone and operated it for a moment.
Soon, a video was transmitted to Li Chengyi’s AR glasses.
"You carry on with your work, teacher; I’ll take a look." Li Chengyi walked to a corner, found a chair, and sat down.
Tang Zhiwei waited on the side, in a good mood.
The video was short.
It showed a blank hall with two testers.
One was responsible for changing Force Field Generators of different levels, and the other tested them with various weapons.
First was a Level One Force Field.
Bullets from standard-issue handguns fired continuously from different angles for a minute before the field broke down.
Then came Level Two. Stronger armor-piercing handgun bullets, standard submachine guns, and rifles were fired for a minute before it failed.
Level Three.
They went straight for sniper rifles, firing one shot every ten seconds, continuing for a minute before failure.
After that, there were different levels of explosion protection. Level Three Force Fields protected well against most conventional weapon explosions from more than three meters away.
Below were some technical specifications that Li Chengyi couldn’t understand.
But the fact it could protect against sniper rifles was already quite impressive.
"Teacher, what about Level Four Force Fields? What kind of weapons can they protect against?" Li Chengyi couldn’t help but ask again.
"Level four... basically, it’s the highest civilians can buy. It can quickly recover as long as it’s not breached. Aside from a few high-powered custom weapons, the majority of conventional weapons are ineffective against it, including tank shells, close-range grenade explosions, heavy snipers, electromagnetic interference blasts, and so on. At the very least, it can withstand one minute of continuous bombardment."
"Its fundamental principle is different from ordinary Force Field Generators; it’s a field that can recover continually. Only Feiyi above level four, or some of White Star’s super high-energy weapons, can quickly penetrate it."
"How much does it cost!" Li Chengyi immediately thought of the Force Field protections Andy and Kadis had, which were truly turtle shell-strong.
"Not expensive, just over forty million on the market. The key issue is the energy cost. It takes millions to use once, with a standard consumption of half an hour. If it’s breached, it’s considered destroyed and needs to be repurchased..." Tang Zhiwei explained.
"So I don’t recommend you buy this level because Level Three is already more than sufficient for our regular use. Plus, we are in the city. With Heavenly Eye and Silent Fortress around, there’s really no need for it. You also can’t keep it running 24/7; the energy consumption is too great to bear."
"Can I buy it, teacher?" Li Chengyi didn’t care about the rest; he just wanted something to hold up in a crucial moment.
Having saved up for so long, his account, combined with the company and the botanic garden’s funds, minus the expenditures, still had over sixty million. Deducting the over ten million for the investment project, he still had just over fifty million left. Although buying it would tighten the finances slightly, it was doable!
The key point was that he had personally experienced how freakishly strong the Level Four Force Field’s defense was during their two encounters; he had a profound understanding of it.
"That... you don’t have the qualification to purchase. You need to apply. Although civilians are allowed to buy Level Four Force Fields, there are still controls in place. They wouldn’t allow criminals to take advantage of this. You understand?" Tang Zhiwei said solemnly.
"That’s not a problem. I, Li Chengyi, have never had a criminal record since childhood. I was always an excellent student leading in both conduct and learning in my class. My university mentor regretted my excellence and thought I should have pursued higher education, but I refused at the time."
Li Chengyi sighed, "Looking back now, I feel a bit of regret."
"That’s good. Submit your information, and I’ll try to apply for you. However, the review for Level Four is quite strict and not just a matter of money, so I can’t guarantee you’ll pass," Tang Zhiwei warned in advance.
"Then I’ll trouble you, teacher," Li Chengyi said with a smile, "Do I need to pay a deposit upfront?"
"No need for that. I’ll submit the application now, and you should get a result in three days. Just wait for it at home." Tang Zhiwei’s smile grew even warmer.
The higher the total purchase price, the more profit he would make from the sale.
Not to mention the Force Field Generator, a gold-devouring beast. This little thing itself cost tens of millions, which wasn’t expensive for a Feiyi Master.
But the operational cost was so heavy that only wealthy patrons could afford it.
Unlike professional military use, private operation guaranteed millions in expenses for a single use, with no option to pause and save energy. An energy block could be used only once...
In other words, each use started at a minimum of several million...
The continuous business of energy blocks, that’s where he made a killing on his commission...
Shortly after Li Chengyi left, Tang Zhiwei quickly sent his application for purchasing the Level Four Force Field to the school’s armaments department.
Beep beep beep.
Suddenly, a warning alert popped up automatically.
’The applicant you have submitted does not meet the purchase requirements. Please try again.’
"Hm?" Tang Zhiwei frowned and clicked on the hint content below.
There lay the explanation as to why the requirements weren’t met.
He quickly glanced over it and suddenly understood.
"Blind Spot Individual... No wonder he needs a high-level Force Field Generator... that’s pitiable."
He sighed.
Blind Spot Individuals definitely couldn’t buy it; that was an official regulation.
Tang Zhiwei shook his head, thinking of the commission he was about to earn, his mind quickly working.
"Well then, everyone has it tough. As a teacher, I can’t bear to let my student walk toward death. The Blind Spot, how dangerous is that? Without the best protective gear, isn’t that like waiting for death?"
He adeptly switched the applicant’s name to his own and resubmitted the application.
Beep...
This time it smoothly passed.
Immediately, Tang Zhiwei’s face showed satisfaction.
After all, it was just a Force Field Generator; even if a Blind Spot Individual had a mental breakdown, they couldn’t possibly cause any real trouble with it.
Besides, Li Chengyi was using it for self-protection. Is there anything wrong with a person wanting to protect themselves?
