Blind Spot
Chapter 191 - 179 Contest Three

Chapter 191: 179 Contest Three

The tangible feeling of paper slid through the armored gloves of the Floral Dress.

Li Chengyi seized the Blue Book.

"I wish," he murmured deeply.

"Let..."

"I’d advise you to stop right now," came a cold voice from the mouth of the cave.

By now, the Wolf Cave had collapsed greatly due to the recent impact, with most of the area filled with fallen rocks from the top.

Only scattered cracks remained where one could stand.

Since there was nothing combustible, the flames from before had dissipated, leaving only thick smoke that kept pouring out of the cave.

Li Chengyi paid no attention and continued.

"...to utterly eradicate everyone in the Garden of Fate..."

Bang!!

A gunshot struck Li Chengyi on the faceplate of his helmet.

The bullet ricocheted, leaving behind only a tiny black mark but interrupting his speech.

"You should think this through, we are Jiu Yi, the Blue Book is a strategical control item, not meant for personal, indiscriminate use! You may make a wish now, but you should also consider the consequences that will follow."

Jiang Zhihen stood at the entrance, his face cold, while rows of officers in exoskeleton armor aimed their guns this way.

Not just that, there were helicopters hovering midair on the perimeter, with their missiles and ground-targeting machine guns all pointed at Li Chengyi.

The penetrating power of the machine guns might not match that of a sniper bullet, but their impact was much stronger.

Aside from the machine guns, those missiles were the real weapons of mass destruction.

"Thug Xiao Hao, now, I permit you to redeem yourself by giving us the Blue Book. In return, whatever crimes you might have committed here will be overlooked."

Jiang Zhihen held a Feiyi case in his hand, his expression indifferent.

Li Chengyi indeed stopped making his wish.

But it wasn’t because he didn’t want to, rather the Blue Book in his hand began to struggle violently to break free from his grasp before he could finish speaking.

He immediately stopped wishing, and the Blue Book also ceased its struggle.

"Is it resisting because the wish cannot be fulfilled?" Li Chengyi guessed in his heart.

He picked up the Blue Book and gently turned to the first page.

"I wish..." he began again.

"I said, put it down!!" Jiang Zhihen’s face showed a surge of anger.

He had mobilized so much military power to wait for these people to be mutually wounded in their fight, and then seize the Blue Book in one fell swoop.

But now, to his dismay, the one who got the Blue Book turned out to be this local Blind Spot Individual thug with a bit of a reputation.

All his original plans were for naught, his backup plan to threaten Andy, and deal with a possible White Skeleton, was gone.

And now, this thug was completely ignoring him!?

"Kill him! Take back the Blue Book!" Consumed by a sudden fury, he simply raised a hand and pointed, shouting the command.

Kill me?

Li Chengyi suddenly looked up at him, the Golden Crystals on his Ultimate Floral Dress gleaming faintly with golden light.

Whoosh!!

In an instant, his right hand swept across.

The shield transformed into a Golden Giant Hand, rapidly extending and hurtling forward, violently grabbing at Jiang Zhihen standing in the cave entrance.

This change was too sudden, Jiang Zhihen had never expected him to act so decisively.

He hurriedly shot the Feiyi out.

A black metal ruler a meter long sprang forth fiercely, striking hard against the palm of the Golden Giant Hand.

Bang!!

A heavy collision noise erupted.

The black ruler Feiyi was clearly not as simple and light as it appeared to be, its weight quite deceptive.

Unfortunately, such deceptive weight proved weak and ineffective against the Golden Giant Hand.

Clang!!!

Amidst the loud noise, the black ruler was knocked away.

Jiang Zhihen’s pupils shrank as he tried to retreat and dodge, but it was too late.

Along with the loud noise, he was flung against the rock wall like a swatted fly.

Boom!

His body smashed heavily into the side of the wall, and then was pinned down by the following smash of the giant hand, immobilized.

"What gave you the courage to speak to me?"

Li Chengyi withdrew his hand, revealing Jiang Zhihen’s pale face indented into the stone wall.

He had a Force Field Generator on him, but it was clear that the force field had burst.

He was unharmed only because Li Chengyi had not directly intended to kill.

The Titan Sunflower state was the most powerful peak form of Li Chengyi’s strength to date; after all, the man was an official, and it wasn’t good to kill him outright.

Professional matters were best left to the professionals.

"Shoot, you idiots! What are you waiting for!?" Jiang Zhihen trembled in the rock, unable to tell if it was fear or rage.

But strangely, all the soldiers around him with their guns and the aircraft overhead remained utterly indifferent, as if deaf.

Click.

The black ruler Feiyi also automatically dissolved back into a suitcase form, falling to the ground and locking up, losing its ability to transform.

Jiang Zhihen’s complexion slightly changed as he struggled to get down from the rock wall.

"You all want to turn the world upside down?" he bellowed, looking around fiercely.

As a Jiu Yi Commissioner, his qualities and determination were evidently inferior to those of White Skeleton and Andy.

"Jiang Zhihen, you are suspected of abusing your power for personal gain, unauthorized mobilization of local armed forces. Your automatic Flying Yi has been locked."

Just then, the hatch of an aircraft opened.

A red light shot out, fast then slow, gently landing behind Jiang Zhihen.

The red light revealed its form, which was a surfboard set with a multitude of silver modules of varying sizes.

Behind the red surfboard, a man with short yellow hair and wheat-colored skin walked out, tall and muscular.

The man, tall and wearing sunglasses, was dressed in bright red beachwear with spiraling golden dragons emblazoned on it.

"Liu Tongbei!? How come you are here?" Jiang Zhihen wore a look of disbelief.

"I’m here to—" Before he could finish his sentence, a bullet, fired from an unknown location, hit him accurately on the side of the neck.

The bullet was a needle-point bullet, with minimal lethality.

Just like that, he tilted his head, unable to continue speaking, and his gaze quickly became lifeless.

Without their protective force fields, Mecha Engineers are almost defenseless.

Apart from the purebloods, the majority of Mecha Engineers rely extensively on their Flying Yi.

This was their fatal weakness.

"Take him away." The blond man smiled and gestured for someone to take Jiang Zhihen away.

Only then did he look up at Li Chengyi.

"Xiao Hao, right? Can you hand over the Blue Book to us?"

"It’s useless now." Li Chengyi raised his hand, and the Blue Book in it slowly turned black, transformed into ash, crumbling and scattering.

"Have you made a wish?" the man raised an eyebrow, seemingly neither surprised nor disappointed. "If I’m not mistaken, it should be related to the Blind Spot, right?"

"Yes," replied Li Chengyi, unsure of what the man intended.

"That’s good. As long as it doesn’t endanger public safety, everything else is fine. However... this thing, although it can indeed fulfill some not-so-difficult wishes, the methods might be somewhat unorthodox. You might have to pay a high price."

He seemed to know some inside information.

"Can you elaborate?" Li Chengyi’s heart was stirred. His wish was to make the difficulties faced by the members of The Garden in future Blind Spots lower.

The Blue Book was still struggling, but in the end, he never let go of it, unsure if his wish was successful.

"A better use for the Blue Book is actually to write down one’s own questions on it, then put it back. You might get corresponding answers. Lien used to do that, but unfortunately, you’ve already used it."

"Also, my purpose for coming here was to obtain concrete evidence from Jiang Zhihen. The weevils that have been hiding in Jiu Yi for too long can now be completely eradicated!" The man explained with a smile.

"I see."

Li Chengyi understood; he had learned from Rainbow Candy earlier that someone wanted to coordinate with him to catch someone.

That’s why he had let Jiang Zhihen off previously.

"May I introduce myself? I’m Liu Tongbei, and from now on, I’ll be in charge of these three provinces specifically, taking over the job previously held by Jiang Zhihen." The man sized up the armor on Li Chengyi’s body with obvious interest.

"Buddy, that attire must have cost you a lot, huh?" he asked tentatively.

"Xiao Hao, I was impulsive before, acting irresponsibly and doing things that weren’t exactly legal. I hope Commissioner Liu can be lenient in the future," Li Chengyi said sincerely.

"No worries, you’ve performed a great service this time. Past issues shouldn’t be a big problem. You can be atoned through merit, we’ll just follow the procedures," Liu Tongbei beamed cheerfully.

"Thanks a lot." Li Chengyi glanced at the many drones and aircraft circling in the air around them.

Indeed, the other side’s forces were formidable.

These weren’t the ragtag troops he had encountered in Sutan; every aimed weapon was from the military modules.

They were standard equipment of the Yi Country’s military.

Not to mention the marksman who had injured him earlier; there was likely at least three guns trained on him right now.

Besides, there were the missiles and cannons carried by the aircraft, as well as the undoubtedly present powerful Feiyi Masters.

"So, can I leave now?" Li Chengyi asked.

"Interested in joining the Alliance?" suddenly offered Liu Tongbei.

"Hm? Can I?" Li Chengyi was surprised.

"Of course. What do you think the Alliance is? The Alliance is to unite all the forces that can be united. Essentially, to maintain social stability, to transform unstable forces into predictable and stable cornerstones is the Alliance’s greatest role," Liu Tongbei answered.

"Can we reply later?"

"Of course. Just go to your local city’s Alliance, and I’ll have someone waiting there."

"Thank you, then. Goodbye." Li Chengyi slowly backed away, leaped from the cave entrance, plunged into the forest, and ran away into the distance.

Liu Tongbei watched him leave, the smile on his face slowly fading.

"Boss, is it necessary to be so polite with him? Wouldn’t it be simpler to just take them all away at once?"

A crisp female voice came through a concealed earpiece in his ear.

"Not bad. Being able to defeat a Grade Three Reinforced Human like Andy head-on means he could be considered competent within our military," Liu Tongbei explained.

"So what? Andy and White Skeleton were both once defeated by you, weren’t they?" the female voice asked, puzzled.

"I could have killed him. That wouldn’t be difficult," Liu Tongbei’s smile vanished, "but can’t you use your brain? Can’t you see who’s behind him? That man who is stubborn but soft-hearted, wanting to protect his own daughter, saying one thing while doing another. You really dare to attack someone’s companion, jeopardizing his daughter’s safety, huh... Tomorrow you might as well find a place to do your own accounting, bury yourself, fancy that?"

"But..."

"But what? Do you really think we don’t want the Blue Book? Wouldn’t it be nice to kill two birds with one stone? Do you think I’m really as magnanimous as I just seemed?"

"Moreover." Liu Tongbei recalled the scene when Li Chengyi had made his move, "That guy might have a complete production line and maintenance system behind him. Without Flying Yi and modules, we’re all more or less the same. Having multiple paths might allow for cooperation in the future, right? After all, who doesn’t need maintenance and upgrades at some point?"

"Boss, aren’t you overthinking things?" the female voice said helplessly.

"It’s not that I’m overthinking, it’s that this society is too realistic," Liu Tongbei walked forward into the cave.

"Enough, I have people to catch. The life signatures of Andy and White Skeleton are almost gone. The higher-ups are waiting for my report."
