Blind Spot
Chapter 185 - 174 Forward 2

Chapter 185: 174 Forward 2

"Indeed... it’s a trap," Li Chengyi looked at the corpses and fresh blood scattered before him, his initial calmness turning somber in an instant.

He had killed many, but those were the ones who deserved to die.

But here, many were just common people. Common people don’t change their nature just because they’ve entered a blind spot.

"These mechanical soldiers, their cores aren’t from Yi Country’s official sources," Rainbow Candy, pressing on the single-lens AR glasses worn on her face, said with an ugly expression. "Their origins have all been erased, and we can’t trace them for the time being."

"This couldn’t be for a sacrifice to the Blue Book, could it?" Dragon Gate Crane, pale-faced, couldn’t help but blurt out.

"Possible..." Li Chengyi walked over to a girl, who was still just a teenager, and crouched down.

Looking at the young girl, not more than sixteen or seventeen, with a bullet hole through her forehead and a pool of blood.

"Somebody is setting things up, wanting to use our lives as Blind Spot Individuals to sacrifice to the Blue Book," he said in a low voice, closing the girl’s eyes that remained open in death.

"Li Chengyi!!" A familiar shout made him look up and follow the voice.

He saw Brother Sima Gui standing up from a ring of corpses and quickly approaching.

"Turtle bro? How did you get here? You shouldn’t be short of money, right?" Li Chengyi stood up, frowning at the newcomer.

"Let’s not talk about that first, what on earth is going on here?" Sima Gui asked.

"I don’t know," Li Chengyi answered. "Like you, I received a notice to come here, and then noticed something off about these two soldiers. Luckily my friend is a hacker, so we took control of these two mechanical beings."

"These people, they’re your men?" Sima Gui asked through clenched teeth.

"What do you think? They’re all robots, my friend hacked into their chips, just temporarily took control of them," Li Chengyi replied.

"Fuck!" Sima Gui stared into Li Chengyi’s eyes, choosing to believe him.

He had also seen those two mechanical soldiers turn around, preparing to shoot Li Chengyi.

"Let’s call the police! This is no longer something we can handle!"

"We’re being jammed around here. We have to get out of this wooded area first. But now, someone probably doesn’t want us to leave," Li Chengyi said, turning to look into the woods not far away.

Bright morning light shone obliquely into the woods.

Through the hazy white fog.

A tall figure clad in purple-patterned armor slowly emerged from behind a tree trunk.

"You’re right!" a voice echoed from beneath the helmet in electronically synthesized, eerie tones.

"Quite capable, huh? To take control of the two nearby squads of mechanical soldiers in such a short time.

Had I not come over to check on the situation, you might actually have gotten away."

The purple figure stepped closer to the group.

At this moment, Sima Gui, Zhao Shien, and three other Blind Spot Individuals who had managed to survive, naturally gathered behind Li Chengyi and his companions, watching the armored figure with anxious faces.

"Who are you?" Li Chengyi turned around to face the opponent head-on.

"Me?" The purple-armored figure laughed, "Many of you should have heard of me. I’m called... Thug."

Thug??

The woods suddenly grew colder.

’If you’re Thug, then what am I?’

Li Chengyi narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the opponent, and indeed found patterns of Wisteria Flowers on that purple armor.

Clearly, the impersonator paid attention to detail.

Rainbow Candy looked at Li Chengyi with a strange expression.

"Brother Cheng?"

"Can you hack in?"

"No, he’s got a counter-jamming module, much more advanced than the ones before," Rainbow Candy shook her head.

"Back off," Li Chengyi held up the Feiyi case in his hand.

The others quickly stepped back.

Whoosh!

In an instant, all the mechanical soldiers around lifted their guns and aimed at the "thug."

Pop, pop, pop!

Dense tongues of fire lit up, weaving into automatic flying chains of bullets that all hit the purple humanoid figure.

Amidst the clanging sounds of impact, sparks exploded.

But the purple figure just bent over, raised its hands to protect its head and face, and without even stepping back, withstood all the gunfire.

"So what’s the use of bringing these useless things? What a waste of time!"

With a sudden crouch and leap, two honeycomb-like jet tubes ejected from its back, and deep blue flames burst forth.

Boom!

Propelled by immense thrust, he burst from the low altitude of three meters, crashing into a team of mechanical soldiers at the side.

Thump!

Sharp black blades popped out from his forearms, slicing through the chests of the mechanical soldiers like lightning.

It only took two seconds.

Eight mechanical soldiers were cut in half on the spot, revealing the sparking circuits within their internal structures.

Just as he was about to rush towards Li Chengyi and the others to deal with the masterminds,

Suddenly, a streak of silver light shot out.

It was a massive axe the size of a door, spinning at high speed with the blade aiming right for his head.

Clang!

The black blade struck hard against the side of the axe, knocking it off course to land in the ground not far away.

Dirt flew up in a black cloud.

The "thug" looked at Li Chengyi with slight surprise.

"Is there actually a Flying Yi?"

Li Chengyi remained silent, waving his hand.

Instantly, the giant axe flew back, cleaving towards the "thug" from the side.

"Wind Scar Axe Technique activated," accompanied by the sound of mechanical electronics.

This time the axe wasn’t just clashing head-on, but at the moment it nearly collided with the black blade, it twisted slightly, shifting from a cleave to a slice, speeding past the side.

The speed of the Flying Yi was incredibly fast, at least supersonic.

For a moment, all anyone could see was a silver light continuously and rapidly circling the "thug," cutting away.

And this kind of slicing even contained a certain rhythm.

The "thug" was forced to retreat step by step, and wounds began to appear on his body.

The materials of the Flying Yi were clearly superior to the armor on his body.

Immediately, his eyes lit up with red light.

Whoosh!

Sharply behind him, a pair of wings made up of black blades unfolded.

At the same time, his chest automatically sprang open, revealing a dense array of black gun barrels inside.

"This is so annoying!!!"

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!!!

Bullets rained out from his chest like droplets.

But likewise, all the bullets that hit in front of Li Chengyi were deflected, leaving him unharmed beyond a few scattered sparks.

"What the hell is this?!" the "thug" was taken aback.

"A Mecha Engineer’s force field," answered Li Chengyi.

"You’re fooling ghosts! Sparks are flying, and you’re talking about force fields!?" the ’Thug’ retorted.

Knowing his opponent was a Feiyi Master, he immediately erupted in blue light from behind and swung his dual blades with all his strength to knock away the giant axe.

With a clang, the giant axe was fiercely hurled over ten meters away, slicing through a tree trunk before flying towards the distant sky.

"Being a Feiyi Master and daring to get close to me, you’re asking for death!!!"

With one step, the ’Thug’ leapt into the air, the blue light jetting from behind him as he rapidly charged toward Li Chengyi.

"Die!! Hahaha!!"

With both hands gripping the blades, the wings behind him automatically expanded, elongated, unfolded, stretching to three meters in length.

The ten-meter distance between the two disappeared in an instant.

The black blade whistled through the air, emitting a sharp screech like that of a giant eagle swooping down on its prey.

The wailing sound was piercing and shrill.

The blade raced towards Li Chengyi’s face, casting faint shadows as it moved.

The blade drew ever closer.

Ever closer...

Whoosh!

In that moment, Li Chengyi sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the blade by a hair’s breadth.

Then he raised his hand.

And pressed down.

His palm slammed down on the ’Thug’s’ face, smashing it toward the ground.

Boom!

The grassland burst open, black soil and grass mixed with pebbles flying out like waves emanating ripples all around.

The massive impact caused a concussion in the ’Thug’s’ head, momentarily stalling his internal circuits.

Before he could recover, a tremendous force grabbed his head, hoisted it high, and smashed it back down to the ground.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!!

Four successive booms left four large craters in the ground.

The ’Thug’ felt dazed, his back-mounted wings and jetpack smashed to bits.

Before his senses could catch up, he was tossed high into the air once more.

Whoosh.

In the distance, the silver giant axe circled back and landed precisely in Li Chengyi’s hand.

Whoosh!

A terrifying force erupted, and a streak of silver light blazed downward like lightning.

All was silent.

Thump.

The ’Thug’s’ body collapsed to the ground, with a clear crack running along his torso from head to pelvis.

"You... you tricked me...!?"

He stared blankly at Li Chengyi in front of him.

"You’re... not a Feiyi Master?"

The Feiyi dissolved into a briefcase.

Li Chengyi picked up the Feiyi and walked past him without a word.

Crash, the ’Thug’ split into two behind him, scattering a mass of tiny parts on the ground.

Black and silver fragments shone in the sunlight, glinting like gems.

"Cool! Brother Cheng, do you want his parts?" Dragon Gate Crane called out from behind.

"As you wish," Li Chengyi replied, heading straight towards the Wolf Cave. With so many people dead, the situation at the Wolf Cave was likely nearing completion, and he had to hurry.

"This is a complete form of Dark Eagle," Rainbow Candy said as she examined the ’Thug’s’ internal structure.

"A commercial model Reinforced Human from the Sky System, designed after the original Black Hawk model. The Dark Eagle outperforms the Black Hawk in overall performance by an average of thirty percent, yet Brother Cheng dealt with it face-to-face... Tsk tsk."

She marveled as she examined the parts.

"Let’s go, just pick up a few things and catch up," she said as she got up.

She used her AR terminal to command the remaining mech-soldiers to advance towards the Wolf Cave.

When faced with a top-tier hacker like her, who worked with AI, any anti-hacking system that wasn’t up to par became easy prey, especially if the outer shell had communication or wireless transmission capabilities.

"Where the hell did these people come from? There was no warning at all, and suddenly we’re overrun with mech-soldiers," Dragon Gate Crane wondered aloud.

"Not sure, but heading towards Wolf Cave, we’ll definitely find some answers. Of course, we can’t get too close. We just need to provide Brother Cheng with remote support, shielding him from detection and interference," Rainbow Candy replied.

"Let’s go."

She stepped forward, following in Li Chengyi’s direction.

However, as she took a step forward, her expression suddenly changed, sensing something was amiss.

"Wait a minute! Aren’t we still far from Wolf Cave? Why does Brother Cheng’s figure seem off!?"

Dragon Gate Crane’s heart tightened as he hurriedly looked in the same direction.

Indeed, they saw Li Chengyi’s figure gradually blurring and distorting, as if seen through a thick frosted glass—growing thicker by the moment.

One second.

Two seconds.

Without a sound, Li Chengyi vanished from everyone’s sight.

"Damn, Flash Appearance at a time like this!?" Sima Gui was the first to recognize the situation.

He had just been astounded by Li Chengyi’s explosive bare-handed combat strength and couldn’t pull himself away.

And now, barely regaining his senses, he was faced with this scene.

"But we’re not close enough to Wolf Cave yet, are we!?"

Although it seemed near, it was deceiving; there were still several hundred meters to Wolf Cave.

Hum.

Before anyone could react, a figure in black armor with wings unfurled, akin to the black blade from earlier, rapidly approached from the woods overhead.

Different from before, this armored individual had a distinctly feminine shape, clearly a woman.

"Ados, that waste of space! To lose a full body in a small place like this, partnering with him is the biggest disgrace of my life!" the electronic synthesized female voice echoed from the black-armored figure.

Blue flames burst from her back as she decelerated, descending to land.

She then turned her gaze toward Rainbow Candy, Dragon Gate Crane, Sima Gui, and the rest standing amid a field of carnage.

"We’re done for... another Dark Eagle... the second model of the Sky Black Hawk..." Dragon Gate Crane’s complexion turned ashen.

"Just when Brother Cheng used Flash Appearance... we’re screwed..." Sima Gui stood beside him, equally looking desperate.

Rainbow Candy alone had a dark glare, silently staring at the newly arrived Dark Eagle, saying nothing.

They had considered countless scenarios, but never anticipated this timing; Brother Cheng was pulled into a Blind Spot with Flash Appearance.

They weren’t even at Wolf Cave, and yet a Flash Appearance occurred.

What in the world was happening!?
