Blind Spot -
Chapter 158 - 147 Mingwu 3
Chapter 158: 147 Mingwu 3
Flying vehicles rapidly approached, and Li Chengyi stepped back a few paces before suddenly dashing into the dense forest, disappearing into the shadows in an instant.
His identity as Xiao Hao wasn’t supposed to be exposed.
After all, many of the things Xiao Hao had done had violated the rules of the federation.
Upon leaving, he casually grabbed Mr. Mu, who had lost too much blood and was unconscious on the forest floor.
Under the release of the Radiance Field, he quickly stopped the bleeding in Mr. Mu’s legs and began to heal slowly.
He dashed several kilometers, throwing off any pursuers.
By a stream, Li Chengyi threw Mr. Mu onto the ground and pulled out a jammer, expanding the range of the signal shield around them.
Being able to get out of lock-on, the most important auxiliary device he had were the Rainbow Candy and various jammers provided by the boss.
The main function of these jammers was to disrupt their own various radiation signals by countering them, while also interfering with nearby scanning device signals, to reduce the chance of being locked on.
This method still had the possibility of being discovered.
Because the jammer itself also emitted radiation, which was the equivalent of using one type of radiation to neutralize another.
Therefore, Li Chengyi had to finish quickly.
Standing by the stream, he quietly covered Mr. Mu with the Radiance Field, waiting for him to regain consciousness.
Several minutes later.
The thrice-evolved Radiance Field was more effective than before.
Mr. Mu, pale, slowly woke from his unconscious state.
The first thing he saw was the same purple-black luxurious armor from before, which made him turn even paler.
"It’s you again... Since you won’t kill me... tell me, what do you want me to do?" He didn’t even bother to get up, just lay there on the ground speaking.
Clearly, he knew that no matter how much he resisted, it would be futile.
"Why did Xindela faint?" Li Chengyi asked directly.
He wasn’t as easygoing as Song Ran and the others; able to sense Evil Thoughts, he knew there was something wrong with Mr. Mu just from a few encounters.
But Evil Thoughts wasn’t something he could explain to others, and even if he did, they wouldn’t believe him.
So he decided to come in person.
Upon hearing the name Xindela, Mr. Mu’s scar-riddled face twitched slightly.
"I knew it, if you don’t want Xindela to die, you would..."
Hiss!
A flash of golden light.
Mr. Mu screamed, clutching his left arm.
His arm was cleanly severed at the root, blood gushing out, but oddly it soon stopped on its own.
"Ready to talk now?" Li Chengyi’s eyes beneath the helmet were calm.
"Even if... you kill me... it wasn’t me who did it!" Mr. Mu continued through clenched teeth, shaking in pain but still defiant.
"You still won’t talk?" Li Chengyi was interested. What kind of secret could make this man go to such lengths not to reveal the truth?
If it weren’t for his ability to sense Evil Thoughts, another person might actually be deceived by Mr. Mu.
Unfortunately for Mr. Mu, he had encountered him.
"Really not talking?" Li Chengyi asked one last time.
"I’ll talk... it was He Bing!! Why do you... frame me!?" Mr. Mu trembled with a shaky voice.
"Then that’s enough."
Li Chengyi lifted the Golden Sword, and, with a swing, he slashed at the other man.
Hiss!
The blade passed over Mr. Mu’s neck, drawing a fine line of blood.
His face contorted with ferocity; he truly seemed unable to believe that Li Chengyi would kill him.
He reached out with his only hand and clutched at his throat, eyes filled with profound despair.
"Now, are you willing to talk?" Li Chengyi said flatly.
His voice was like icy water, drenching Mr. Mu from head to toe.
Only then did he realize that his neck was only slightly cut, bleeding, but not fatally wounded.
Realizing this, Mr. Mu breathed heavily, his eyes flashing with fear and relief.
"I’ll talk!"
He finally conceded.
"I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything!"
"Good." Li Chengyi’s voice altered by the voice changer emanated from his throat. "How did Xindela lose consciousness?"
"...." Mr. Mu glanced at the wounds where his arm was severed and his leg was injured, astonished to find that the bleeding had actually stopped.
Suddenly, his expression shifted slightly.
"It was the Blue Book. To unlock the Blue Book, a life is needed... Xindela’s fainting was due to the influence of the Blue Book... As long as the unlocking process of the Blue Book is interrupted, he will wake up on his own," he answered lowly.
"The full name of the Blue Book is the Lan Meng Mountain Master’s Record of Unusual Knowledge, a miraculous book that can fulfill people’s wishes.
But it itself requires enough fresh blood to unlock."
"So, you lured various people to Wolf Cave and then killed them to unlock the Blue Book and fulfill your wishes?" Li Chengyi asked.
"Yes... I joined Utopia just to fulfill my wishes. And the reason I escaped from Utopia was because I saw hope in fulfilling my desires," Mr. Mu gritted his teeth as he replied.
Having died once already, he truly understood that Li Chengyi was willing to kill him. So now he spoke more honestly.
"How did you know that the Blue Book could fulfill wishes?" Li Chengyi asked the critical question. "Is it because of the black characters on the walls inside the Wolf Cave Blind Spot, or was it recorded in the Blue Book itself?"
"Neither..." Mr. Mu shook his head. "It’s a...."
Crack!
There was the sound of gunfire from afar in an instant.
Li Chengyi felt as if struck by lightning at the back of his head, hit by a huge impact force.
That force, scorching and sharp, came without any warning, from back to front.
The immense power sent him stumbling forward several steps.
’A sniper rifle?!’
Li Chengyi immediately realized and dodged to the side, taking cover behind a large tree.
Then, he reached to touch the back of his head.
His helmet was shattered a bit, but it hadn’t been completely penetrated—there was just an added dent.
Suddenly, he thought of something and looked over at Mr. Mu again.
By the creek, Mr. Mu had stopped moving entirely.
Another sniper bullet had hit him square in the chest.
Right in the center of his torso, a watermelon-sized hole had appeared out of nowhere. With such a large wound, he was thoroughly lifeless.
Li Chengyi hid behind a tree, realizing that behind Mr. Mu was not Utopia, but some other people, other forces.
An unknown force had told Mr. Mu that the Blue Book could fulfill wishes, so they used him to covertly attempt to unlock the Blue Book.
He took a deep breath.
He suddenly burst out from the side of the tree.
Bang!
A bullet hit the ground at his feet, blowing up a large patch of dirt.
Li Chengyi kept changing his trajectory, rushing toward the direction from where the bullets sniped at him.
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
Three consecutive shots.
The shooter was actually able to keep up with his speed changes. One of the bullets hit him on the outer side of his thigh.
With a crisp metallic sound, Li Chengyi’s speed faltered, and his sprint was interrupted.
’This isn’t a common sniper, it’s a Reinforced Human or an enhanced human!’
He understood and immediately changed direction again, rushing toward the sniper.
In such dense woods, the sniper’s location had to be close by to avoid bullets being deflected by tree trunks!
He knew it in his heart.
Indeed.
At a position over two hundred meters away,
a tall man camouflaged with dead grass was quickly running away with his rifle.
Noticing Li Chengyi chasing after him, the man didn’t say a word. He pulled a switch on his chest.
Click.
A soft sound.
Li Chengyi abruptly halted, bending down on the spot, his arms over his head for protection.
Boom!!!
A massive explosion erupted a dozen meters in front of him.
Orange-red flames engulfed the surrounding woods, quickly igniting a large amount of dead leaves and grass.
Li Chengyi was pushed back by the explosion, moving several meters backward before stabilizing himself.
He released his hands, breaking off a large branch that had fallen, and looked toward the sniper’s position.
All that was left there were fragments and debris.
With a cold snort, he didn’t linger any longer and turned to hurry back toward Mr. Mu.
After quickly searching Mr. Mu’s body, Li Chengyi turned and left the area.
The explosion had been too conspicuous, and it wouldn’t be long before someone came to investigate.

Several hours later.
Yunshan County Hospital.
"Sigh... the waters are too deep behind this. The Confederation and the Security Council have both confirmed those three full-body Reinforced Humans are Utopia models. With Wolf Cave Blind Spot involved with Utopia, we’re really in trouble," Song Ran said with a troubled look on his face as he lay in his hospital bed.
"Lien left a message on the Blue Book. The boss is definitely looking for the Blue Book. But I suspect that the Blue Book we’re looking for and the one in Wolf Cave might not be the same thing..." In the next bed with one leg suspended in the air and his body wrapped in bandages, only his eyes and mouth visible, Sima Gui added.
"Don’t overthink it. Now that Mr. Mu is dead and military sniper rifle remnants and Reinforced Human fragments were found near the scene, the situation is out of our control. With the involvement of Utopia and leaked military weapons, Wolf Cave and Jackal Cave have been sealed off by the Confederation," sighed Song Ran.
"I was lucky. When I got there, Mr. Mu wasn’t completely dead yet. I asked him, and he said the boss just has to wait for the Wolf Cave Blue Book ritual to fade, and he’ll be able to recover," Li Chengyi said as he peeled apples for the two of them, sitting beside their hospital beds.
"Blue Book ritual? What is that?" Song Ran’s eyes widened, sensing something was off.
Li Chengyi didn’t hide anything and relayed everything Mr. Mu had told him.
"A Blue Book that fulfills wishes? And it requires ninety-nine human lives to unlock?"
Song Ran and Sima Gui were both stunned.
They had been investigating for so long, so how had they not come across this information? How had Li Chengyi found out so quickly upon his arrival?
Especially Sima Gui.
He had also been inside Wolf Cave, hadn’t he?
How had he found nothing, nearly getting lured into Blue Cave instead?
Is there really such a big gap between people?
"Can you be sure of this information?" Sima Gui asked.
"I don’t know," Li Chengyi shook his head, "but Mr. Mu went to such lengths, planning to kill so many people. There must be some basis or evidence for it."
"The people from Utopia and the ones who killed Mr. Mu are definitely not the same group. But Mr. Mu must have known about Utopia, so he led us there to confront them," Song Ran stated.
"This issue on the boss’s side has already reached the headquarters. Some of the boss’s friends are already on their way here. For now, we wait. With just a few of us, there’s no way we can confront Utopia," he continued. "We can only wait for the boss’s connections to take effect."
"Who is coming?" Li Chengyi asked.
"According to Yi Country’s terms, it should be the boss’s nephew. The headquarters is providing us with continuous support because of them. Otherwise, once gone, the support would disappear. In business and officialdom, this is especially important; without value or useful connections, no one will lift a finger to help you," Song Ran replied.
Li Chengyi nodded in understanding.
The three fell silent, the casualty rate of this mission was heavy.
The company had lost many personnel and would need to pay a significant amount of compensation.
The two of them were also injured, and wouldn’t be able to do anything for a while.
However, Li Chengyi took every opportunity to go check out the situation at Wolf Cave.
Xindela’s nephew arrived in Yunshan County two days later and took the unconscious Xindela away.
This nephew showed little regard for Song Ran, Sima Gui, and Li Chengyi, not even bothering to talk much, as he brought a complete top-tier medical team and promptly took his uncle away.
The group watched as their private plane took off from the airport, leaving them behind.
