Blind Spot -
Chapter 156 - 145 Enlightenment One
Chapter 156: 145 Enlightenment One
In the woods.
Mr. Mu stood still, not moving an inch.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to move, but a heavy sense of oppression anchored his legs firmly in place, making it impossible for him to take even a single step.
"Who are you...?" He couldn’t recognize Li Chengyi at this moment.
But his long-standing plans could absolutely not be thwarted by anyone.
"From Vulture Company? Or Utopia?"
"Consider it Vulture. I’ll ask you again," Li Chengyi approached step by step. "Were you... trying to run away just now?"
A faint vibration from a blade’s edge emanated from his hand.
Li Chengyi held a Golden Longsword, his diamond-shaped purple eyes directly on Mr. Mu.
"Young man, I’m just a lonely old man who knows nothing. I was leaving early to get help. What use could I possibly be if I stayed here?" Mr. Mu responded earnestly.
"You make a good point," Li Chengyi stepped forward. "But now your help has arrived. There’s no need for you to go anymore."
"I..."
Mr. Mu tried to say more.
Suddenly, a flash of golden light appeared, a phantom figure rushed forward, and in less than half a second, the golden sword tip landed on his right shoulder, against his neck.
Whoosh.
The sharp blade turned, exuding a chill that prevented him from daring to move at all.
Thud!
The sword blade turned from a slice to a smack, striking his face hard.
A massive force sent Mr. Mu flying to the left, slamming into a tree trunk and falling to the ground.
He struggled to get up several times but couldn’t manage to.
A concussion left him nearly unable to maintain his balance.
"I’ve been to the Wolf Cave Blind Spot. There is indeed a Blue Book there, but it’s impossible to retrieve."
Li Chengyi walked up to him, the sword blade pointed at him.
"Tell me, how exactly did the boss see the Blue Book and then pass out?"
"That was He Bing’s doing! I don’t know either, or why would I come to find you!?" Mr. Mu’s mask was knocked off his face, revealing scars and burns.
"If you don’t believe me! Then don’t come to me!" he pointed at Li Chengyi.
"Think about it! It’s you who are begging me! You are the ones who want Xindela to wake up, not me!"
"So this is what begging looks like!" His voice grew louder.
"You’re right. But how do you know how to wake up the boss?" Li Chengyi asked. "If just anyone came to tell me they could wake up the boss, should we believe them blindly?"
"You don’t have to believe!" Mr. Mu was very defiant.
He stood firmly, locking eyes with Li Chengyi, his gaze unwavering, with not a hint of hesitation, fear, or retreat.
Li Chengyi stared at him for a few seconds.
"Fine, since you’re so certain, I’ll believe you this once,"
he replied.
"Stay here, and I’ll be back later."
"Good!" A hint of mockery flashed in Mr. Mu’s eyes.
Thinking of coming back later?
If Utopia were so easy to deal with, he wouldn’t have used them as a millstone to grind flesh and blood.
Li Chengyi sheathed his sword, walking past him toward the open area near Jackal Cave.
Clang!
In the instant they passed by each other.
A burst of golden light exploded, cutting fiercely through Mr. Mu’s legs.
Clang, clang!
Two crisp sounds.
The blocking objects Mr. Mu sprang from his hands were severed.
He opened his mouth to shout, but it was already too late.
The immense force behind the golden light was tremendous; even though he had hidden his strength, he was utterly unable to block it entirely unexpectedly.
Not to mention his weapon was also broken by the sword.
Blood splattered, Mr. Mu screamed shrilly as both his legs were severed at the knee, tumbling to the ground.
Li Chengyi didn’t spare him a glance, sheathing his sword and walking out of the woods.
For someone to lie to him, particularly with malice, was almost impossible.
No matter how well someone hid it, the things deep inside them could never deceive.

*
Clang, clang!
Following the two crisp sounds.
Vulture Company’s Colin, gripping his knife, quickly retreated a distance, slightly bent, his expression tense as he stared intently at his opponent.
The screams of agony that continuously sounded beside him prevented him from focusing entirely.
It wasn’t that he cared about the life and death of his colleagues, but rather the fear that other enemies, having dealt with the rest, could come to gang up on him.
Just after their signal had been blocked, two figures in black cloaks burst from the woods, wielding huge black firearms that resembled instruments, firing at anyone in sight.
In the barrage of fire, the bulletproof vests of the company’s men barely stood a chance.
In just a few seconds, the ground was littered with bodies.
Only Sima Gui and a few of his deputies were still contending with another cloaked figure.
"Who the hell are you!?" Sima Gui asked loudly as he leaned against a nearby tree trunk.
"You dare come here without even knowing who we are?" one of the cloaked figures responded in astonishment.
The statement was somewhat baffling, but both Colin and Sima Gui felt a sinking feeling in their hearts upon hearing it.
"Enough talk!"
With a sidestep, the cloaked figure twisted and fired a chain of golden bullets from his firearm horizontally at the spot where Colin was hiding.
The chain of bullets, like blades, easily cut through the tree trunk Colin was hiding behind, but Colin, with a roll and crouch, avoided them.
The impressive burst of strength from the Strengthening Injection allowed Colin to charge at his opponent like an arrow.
A flash of the blade.
Colin, with his knives raised, forcefully shoved the cloaked figure’s gun aside.
He had intended to take down the opponent with one strike, but the other was also an enhanced expert.
In terms of reaction speed, this figure was even a fraction faster than him.
"Nice technique, but unfortunately..." the cloaked figure said with a smile. "I’m faster!"
The firearms were discarded, and a silver dagger appeared in the hand of the figure in the black cloak.
The silver blade swept up, leaving behind a dazzling trail of cuts.
The two combatants exchanged blows with their knives like they were in a frenzy.
The crisp clinking sounds were like music, exploding rapidly.
The more Colin fought, the more alarmed he became.
In reality, this world didn’t have a detailed division and standard for strength.
There was only a temporary classification of danger levels.
Even the same person, after equipping different modules, could experience huge leaps in both their danger level and strength.
So, assigning a specific level to a person was not an easy task.
That’s how it was in the era of technology.
But it was absolutely reliable to determine a person’s danger level based on their combat achievements and examples.
In a sense, the danger level could often be viewed as a reflection of a person’s overall strength.
The danger level was the standard grading used by their security company.
It ranged from the lowest Level 10 to the highest Level 1, with an evaluation conducted every year.
And this figure in the black cloak, in Colin’s estimation, was close to the danger level of a Level 4 threat he had once encountered.
Powerful knife skills, at least equivalent to dozens of strengthening injections, plus the amplification of formidable exoskeleton armor, might mean a complete entity, and, finally, exceptionally sharp weapons.
As the fight progressed, Colin began to think of retreat.
They were just a hire company, not bodyguards sworn to die; they came here to make money, not to risk their lives recklessly.
Boom!
Just then, a violent explosion erupted from the entrance of the Jackal Cave.
Song Ran emerged from the cave entry covered in dirt and dust, along with several teammates who had gone in with him.
As soon as they emerged, they saw the chaotic scene of the fight outside.
"Fuck! You’re courting death!"
Song Ran raised his right hand, his palm detaching from his wrist and transforming into a black firing port.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Two miniature missiles shot forth from his wrist, dragging long golden tails of fire, locking onto the two figures in black cloaks.
"It’s the Golden Garfish! Dodge quick!"
The black cloak still entangled with Colin recognized the make of the missiles and bellowed in startled fury.
But the missiles were too fast, and the distance too short; it was already too late.
"This madman!!!"
Military-level Golden Garfish missiles—one could instantly kill any living creature within a thirty-meter radius!
And there were two of them no less!
Did he intend a murder-suicide?
At that moment, the two figures in black cloaks felt nothing but despair.
At such a close range, Song Ran was merciless enough to even blow up his own men.
Decisively abandoning their target, the two figures withdrew.
Pop. Pop.
Following two crisp sounds, the so-called Golden Garfish missiles only resulted in two small two-meter fireballs.
And then all was quiet.
By that time, the two figures in black cloaks had already run over twenty meters away.
Song Ran took the opportunity to fire a flare into the sky.
The bright red flare soared upward, exploding into a vast spread of red sparks, signaling rescue.
"Heh, I just asked a brother for the military Golden Garfish casings, wasn’t that thrilling?" Song Ran said with pride.
"Stop messing around and think of what to do now..." Sima Gui’s expression was ugly; raising his hand, he pointed at the two black cloaks who were turning back towards them.
"What to do now?" Song Ran scoffed and raised his left hand this time.
The wrist automatically bent, revealing a dark muzzle.
"Let’s do it again!"
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Two more Golden Garfish missiles whizzed out.
Spinning like revolvers, they targeted the figures on the opposite side.
"Not again!"
The two realized they wouldn’t be fooled this time, one swinging his knife to deflect the missiles directly.
"Dodge! They’re real!"
Suddenly, a dark figure burst from the side, its knife glittering and flashing twice.
The direction of the missiles abruptly changed, being flicked upwards, soaring into the mid-air.
Boom!!
The explosions fused into one giant fireball, toppling the trees surrounding the clearing.
All the living beings were shaken to their cores, crouching low.
"Attack!" Taking advantage of the explosion, Song Ran charged out, aiming to ambush and kill one of the figures in the black cloak.
He had only run halfway when he realized something was wrong. He wanted to retreat, but it was already too late.
A figure in a black cloak charged forward, engaging him in close-quarters combat, metallic arms and blades constantly clashing, suppressing him so that he could not break free.
The other figure in a black cloak was also seeking Colin, intending to quickly dispose of all the living people present.
But there was a new third player on the scene.
A tall woman wearing a Black Wolf mask.
She looked toward the remaining Sima Gui.
Sima Gui stood there bewildered, looking around for support.
But everyone else on the field was down.
The company’s employees were down or had fled, or were unconscious.
As for Mr. Mu, he had vanished without a trace.
"It’s over..." As the Black Wolf-masked woman approached him, Sima Gui felt a chill in his heart; his basic combat techniques were no match for someone who could flick a missile away with a knife...
Drawing his handgun, Sima Gui forced a grotesque smile on his lips.
"Boss, looks like I’m going first..."
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three shots rang out in quick succession, bullets striking with precision directly in the woman’s chest.
But they all just pierced through the fabric, producing a clang of metal with no effect.
Obviously, she was either wearing a bulletproof vest or was a Reinforced Human. Considering what had just happened, the latter was far more likely.
