Blind Spot -
Chapter 131 - 121 Secret One
Chapter 131: 121 Secret One
The town of Mukesa at night was completely different from during the day.
The dim moonlight shone down, only illuminating the exteriors of the buildings.
The alleys and cracks between them were nothing but lines of darkness, echoing the pitch-black doors and windows.
Li Chengyi walked step by step along the daytime route towards that house.
Amidst the crunching footsteps, he quickly returned to the small room on the second floor.
The door to the room was still open, and inside, it was the same as before—a trace of being burned by a great fire.
He glanced at the bed board and did not go over.
’According to the flash appearance from previous memories, Yserine must have hidden in this tunnel.’
Li Chengyi recalled the previous scenes and took out a flashlight for illumination, turning it on.
Only a beam of moonlight shone through the window into the bedroom.
There were no other sources of light.
That moonlight was so feebly pathetic that it couldn’t even match a candle, let alone light up the surroundings.
The flashlight turned on, and its bright halo instantly made the entire bedroom much clearer.
Li Chengyi walked to the corner, crouched down, and moved a charred piece of wood.
Suddenly, the charred corpse of a dog appeared before him.
’This must be that big yellow dog,’ he thought with a sigh.
Gently moving the big yellow dog to one side, he then brushed away the black ash on the ground.
Sure enough, the ground revealed a square stone slab with an iron ring.
Reaching out, Li Chengyi took a breath, hooked the ring with his finger, and lifted it.
Thud.
The stone slab was lifted, and amidst a cloud of dust, a pitch-black tunnel entrance became visible.
He shone the flashlight inside.
As soon as the light entered,
a ghastly pale doll’s face came into view.
It was the eerie face of a little girl covered in white powder, smiling faintly, dressed in a white nightgown.
’A Lonely Doll!!!?’
Li Chengyi was startled by the face so close at hand.
Of course, he was not scared; it was just that the face was too near.
It was only a fist’s distance from touching his faceplate and nose.
He staggered backward, sitting down on the ground.
Pressing his hand on the ground, he suddenly felt something was off.
Looking down, he saw that right next to his hand stood a pair of pale, wound-covered child’s feet.
His whole body’s hair stood on end, and he rose to distance himself.
"Ah!!!!!"
Suddenly, the face in the tunnel and the child standing beside him both screamed at the same time.
The two sharp sound waves made Li Chengyi’s entire body ice-cold, as if he had been thrown into a washing machine and violently churned.
A strong sensation of nausea and dizziness overwhelmed him.
"For fuck’s sake..."
"Shut up!!!"
He abruptly raised his hand,
and the Flying Yi turned into a streak of black light, flashing past the face in the tunnel and the child beside it.
Bang!!
All fell silent.
Li Chengyi knelt on one knee, drenched in sweat, feeling a sharp pain in both ears.
His vision was a bit blurry, but when he looked around the room again,
the two figures that had just appeared were gone.
Only the Black Axe of the Flying Yi was still embedded in the ground.
He exhaled and grasped the Black Axe, pulling it out.
The constant Radiance Field steadily healed his injuries and restored his condition. In just a dozen seconds, the snowflake spots before his eyes began to dissipate slowly.
Taking a deep breath, he returned to the front of the tunnel.
Without any hesitation, he took the flashlight and leaped down.
Hiss.
Amidst the distinct sound of Armor friction,
he must have slid at least ten meters before his feet hit solid ground.
He slid from the tunnel into a square room very similar to the bedroom above ground.
Thump, Li Chengyi crashed to the ground, kicking up a large cloud of dust.
The dust shrouded the light from the flashlight, making it hazy.
After waiting for a while as the dust slowly settled,
Li Chengyi raised the flashlight to take a closer look at the room.
This was a cubic room, furnished exactly like the bedroom above.
The walls were dirt yellow, the floor was dirt yellow, and the ceiling was black.
Inside the room, there was a single child’s bed, a desk, a small wardrobe, and a closed black iron door.
Li Chengyi held the flashlight, scouting the entire room, and the face inside the helmet slightly frowned.
’This place... the furnishing is the same as above, but... this doesn’t seem like a little girl’s room.’
He walked to the desk, picking up a toy Autobot that was placed on it.
The yellow Autobot was missing an arm, its legs were bent into an X-shape, and out of two antennae on its head, only one remained.
This didn’t seem at all like what a little girl would enjoy playing with.
With the flashlight, he carefully searched for clues.
Soon, he found a lead.
In the right corner of the desk, there were several drops of black marks, resembling bloodstains in appearance.
Swish.
Li Chengyi opened the drawer underneath the bloodstains.
Inside was an old-fashioned portable video player, which in Li Chengyi’s previous life was called an mp4.
In this place, it was known as an mv machine.
The player was the size of an egg, boxy, all black, with most of its front being the screen.
There was a black bezel around the display, with no buttons—likely a touchscreen, he surmised.
’Perhaps it holds some clues.’ He pocketed the device into the small secret compartment of the Flying Yi.
Then he continued to search for other clues.
Unfortunately, the only item in the entire desk was this device. The rest was completely empty as if it was there just for show.
Li Chengyi turned around and looked toward the children’s bed.
The bed was empty.
But beneath the bed...
A corner of a white nightgown was peeking out.
It was clear that someone was hiding under the bed.
Li Chengyi sighed and slowly approached.
He reached out, gently grabbed the corner of the nightgown, and then, slowly pulled it out.
Amidst a faint hissing sound,
a little girl’s skeleton was gently pulled out, lying beside the children’s bed.
The skeleton had its hands covering its eyes, curled up into a ball, with thin layers of black hardened skin still clinging to it.
It looked helpless and pitiable.
One could imagine that in her final moments, she could see nothing, had nothing to eat or drink, and no one responded to her.
In this room where there was nothing, there was only her.
She could only heed her mother’s words, groping around, hiding under the bed alone, curled up, enduring the severe pain in her eyes until she died.
’If... you are Yserine, then who was that person I encountered before?’
Looking at the skeleton before him, Li Chengyi sighed, his heart void of the usual tension.
Instead, a sense of sorrow rose within him.
He gently extended his hand and slowly pulled the skeleton’s hands apart.
Sure enough, he saw black clumps of dirt embedded in the eye sockets.
Standing up, he conducted one last inspection of the entire room. Li Chengyi was sure that he had not overlooked any details.
Only then did he stand in front of the only iron door.
He grasped the doorknob with one hand, and with the Golden Sword in the other, he fiercely struck.
Hiss, hiss.
Two crisp sounds, and the door’s lock was cut off in one stroke.
He pulled hard.
The door instantly emitted a piercing screech as it was forcibly opened.
Outside the door lay a small tunnel, not long, only about three meters, sloping towards a square stone slab.
Li Chengyi shone his flashlight down, making sure there were no issues, before carefully crawling inside step by step.
The passageway was low and narrow. With his Armor on, he was too big and had to crawl forward, otherwise, his head would bump against the earthen ceiling.
Crack.
After just a few crawls, he suddenly felt something tightening on his right foot, as though something was pulling at him.
Li Chengyi quickly looked back.
At the entrance of the underground bedroom, the pale face of a little girl was smiling up at him.
His foot was being tightly gripped by a charred little hand.
Seeing the ghastly, eerie face, Li Chengyi’s heart chilled.
He was about to take action.
But suddenly, the little girl let go on her own accord.
Just like that, smiling at Li Chengyi,
she began to retreat, further and further,
until she disappeared into the deep darkness.
Strangely enough, as Li Chengyi watched where she vanished, a strong sense of loneliness suddenly welled up in his heart.
It seemed to be a feeling transmitted from the other side.
In his mind, he inexplicably flashed through the clues he’d found earlier and the materials he had looked over.
Without lingering, he quickly crawled to the underside of the stone slab, elbowed it hard, and immediately broke it open forcefully.
He squeezed out of the small exit.
He then realized that he was outside the earthen walls of Mukesa Town.
’An escape tunnel leading outside the wall!’
He got the picture.
Without further delay, Li Chengyi looked around—Blue Deer’s people hadn’t arrived yet.
The surroundings were still deathly quiet.
There were no satellite surveillances nor was the Tianyan System covering the area.
There was no need to worry about any potential surveillance.
He stood up and carefully picked up the Flying Yi, which contained the MV machine that might hold important information he had just obtained.
Recollecting the entire exploration process, Li Chengyi faintly felt there was a thread running through Mukesa Town.
But for the moment, due to incomplete information, he couldn’t be sure.
’Time to go back.’
After killing so many of Blue Deer’s, they must have noticed and sent people this way.
He was not willing to engage in a severe conflict with them, at least not here where it was unsuitable.
However, he had only killed a few dozen of them. It shouldn’t be a big deal.
Looking around, Li Chengyi didn’t immediately head back the way he came but instead sprinted in another direction, making a fast getaway.
He needed to take a detour and then use the single-person flying equipment he had hidden to take off and erase his footprints.
Though the sand and wind wouldn’t take long to completely obscure his footprints,
the others might catch up sooner.
After a series of cautious maneuvers, half an hour later,
inside the hotel room at the airport,
Li Chengyi took out his phone from the hotel drawer again and turned it on to check for messages.
There were four missed calls.
And in the Late Night Cucumber Chat, there was a deluge of messages, with the message count at 99+.
He felt alarmed, knowing for certain that Rainbow Candy and the others must have found some clues.
He hurriedly opened the chat.
"Things are bad, I’ve been attacked." — Rainbow Candy.
"Same here! Got shot unexpectedly." — Da Hei.
"Xiao Zhong and I brought the medical kit!" — Dragon Gate Crane.
"They have too many people. We need to find a way to avoid them for now." — Da Xiong.
"Let’s regroup first and then try to break out!" — Rainbow Candy.
Upon reading this, Li Chengyi’s heart tightened.
He instantly thought of the Utopia Organization he had offended. Among all the troubles, only Utopia had the power to make Rainbow Candy and the other Blind Spot Individuals so beleaguered.
He quickly began to type a message and was about to send it.
