Chapter 129: 119 disappeared three

Outside Mukesa Town.

The tour guide, Elf, and Li Wei were leaning against the perimeter wall, bored and waiting.

"Why aren’t you going in? Didn’t you say you’d accompany them inside?" Elf asked Li Wei in Sutan.

"Didn’t you also say you’d go together before?" Li Wei retorted.

"Wasn’t that out of consideration for customer privacy?" Elf argued.

"Same here," Li Wei said, patting his chest.

"I think you’re just scared, huh? Haha," Elf scoffed with a cold laugh.

"I..." Li Wei started to speak.

Suddenly, three soldiers clad in earth-yellow uniforms hurriedly approached them, each with the blue mark of a deer on their uniforms.

It was the same three from before.

"You!" the squad leader at the front lifted his gun and aimed at the two of them.

"We just received orders that no one is allowed in here anymore. Move along, quick!"

"Eh? Hold on, we just got here. We’ve only just arrived—weren’t we allowed in for an hour?" Elf hastily interjected.

"I was told no loitering; if you have objections, take them to them, not me. Move along!" the squad leader said impatiently.

"But our customer is still inside," Li Wei interjected. "Can we wait for our client to come out before leaving? We can go call them," he said, slipping a roll of Sutan bills to the squad leader discreetly.

"The client? They went inside?" The squad leader appeared slightly taken aback.

"Yes, they just went in," Li Wei nodded.

The squad leader’s face subtly changed, not just his.

The other two soldiers began to slowly raise the barrels of their guns, and the hands on the triggers gradually tightened.

"Alright, then go get them out," the squad leader said sternly. "And be quick about it."

"Okay, we’re on it. Li Wei, you go call them," Elf pushed Li Wei.

"You both go," the squad leader ordered.

"Fine, together then," Elf said, turning around and, along with Li Wei, taking a walkie-talkie out of their backpacks and switching it on.

"Mommy, if I call out, will you come to save me?"

"Yes, my dear," the blonde woman gently lowered her head and bent down to kiss the girl.

"You just stay hidden well here, and we’ll be back soon to get you," the woman said softly.

"I’ll be good," the girl said, looking up with wide eyes.

"And what about my brother? Can he hide with me?" she asked, looking at her brother standing by the door with a small backpack.

"Your brother, he needs to see a doctor, he’ll come with us to the small clinic in town you’ve been to before, right?" the woman consoled.

From outside came the urging voice of a man, tinged with a hint of panic, "We need to go now, quickly, we’re running out of time."

"At last... let me speak to Yserine one more time," the woman’s voice had a momentary shift but she suppressed it, maintaining the gentleness.

She bent down, hugged the girl tightly.

"Yserine."

"Mommy, I’ll wait at home quietly for you to come back," the girl said earnestly.

"Mom knows," the woman’s voice softened, "Mom knows you’re the best... the very best."

"We need to go!" the man called out more sharply from outside.

The woman let go of the girl and turned around.

"Jules! Is it possible...?"

"No, it’s not! We’ve run out of money!" the man quickly replied.

"But..."

"They’re here! They’re coming! Hurry, we have to leave now!" the man shrieked.

Outside, there were the sounds of hurried footsteps and the cries and shouts of others.

"Mommy," Yserine looked up at the blonde woman, somewhat confused.

"Mommy has to go... Yserine, be good, be good..." the woman wrenched her hand free from her daughter’s grasp, quickly walked to the door, and scooped up her brother.

Bang.

The door closed.

She quickly merged into the crowd with the man, running toward the distance as though fleeing.

Soon after, the sound of a car driving away could be heard.

Everything gradually quieted down.

"Damn it, there’s nobody here! Those bastards all ran off!"

Some time later, a rough male voice could be heard.

"Then set fire and burn it all down. I can’t stand to stay in this godforsaken place a moment longer."

Boom!!!

Innumerable flames burst in through the doors and windows.

Orange, yellow, dark red--flames of various colors, accompanied by black smoke, quickly engulfed everything in the room.

Li Chengyi’s vision suddenly brightened as if a white light flashed past, and he came back to his senses.

He was standing at the top of the stairs on the second floor.

He had just stepped on the first stair when he suddenly lost all sensation, and then he saw the scene that had just unfolded.

Whew...

He lowered his head and took a deep breath.

’What was that just now? A flashback of memories? Were those Yserine’s memories?’

He looked up, scanning his surroundings.

The earth-yellow staircase was still lined with pale yellow tiles adorned with patterns of flowers and birds.

Dust and debris covered the steps; his footprints were clear as he continued to step on them.

’It seems that this place could very well be the original site of the Tightening Grasp Blind Spot...’

Li Chengyi’s hand flashed with a purplish light, indicating the second evolutionary form of the Wisteria Floral Dress, which instantly merged into his body.

At the same time, the Flower Language Technique: Luminescence Force Field naturally emerged, spreading out and covering the surface of his body.

Although wearing the Floral Dress and using the Flower Language Technique would continuously consume physical and mental energy,

now was not the time to conserve resources.

In the past, his bodily constitution was weak, and he couldn’t maintain the effects for long without becoming physically drained and mentally sluggish.

But now his constitution and spirit were far stronger than before, and using both techniques together, he could sustain them for at least half an hour without issue.

He reduced the size of the Radiance Field to decrease its consumption, pressing it close to his body, and Li Chengyi continued to ascend the staircase step by step.

Upon reaching the second floor,

He saw a pitch-dark hall with cracked tables and chairs, a collapsed sofa, and a dusty, charred piano.

Scattered on the floor were some burnt and broken pieces of wood, debris from something that had fallen.

Crack.

A soft sound drew Li Chengyi’s attention to the left.

He followed the noise and saw a white skirt shadow slowly disappearing at the entrance of a bedroom to the left, apparently entering the room.

He squinted his eyes and slowly took steps towards the bedroom.

Upon closer inspection, he realized it was the same room he had seen in his memory flashbacks.

There are many types of memory flashbacks in the blind spot, and while in Grecius, he had encountered the situation intermingled with reality and the blind spot many times.

He didn’t expect to encounter it again now.

’If I look from the memory flashback, Yserine is definitely dead. Burnt to death in an explosion. So, where should I start to figure out my escape method?’ he thought.

Standing at the bedroom door, Li Chengyi didn’t continue to go in.

He was here, not to seek the truth, but to find a way to escape Tightening Grasp Blind Spot.

He hesitated and had no clue in his mind.

’Maybe, I should leave this place and, like those people thirty years ago, flee quickly by car?’ he wondered.

’But the data from Rainbow Candy shows that the Gilkini people have been almost wiped out. Only a very few survivors mysteriously disappeared.’

After a pause, Li Chengyi gritted his teeth and still took a step forward.

He hadn’t come all this way just to stand at the doorway in a daze.

Getting more details about the blind spot, no matter what, wouldn’t be wrong.

Click.

Just as he set foot into the room.

Boom!

Everything in front of him instantly turned into a sea of flames.

Fire swept through everything.

He stood aside like an observer, watching the fire surge into the bedroom along with the explosion, striking Yserine, who was hiding under the bed.

Ah!

The little girl screamed in horror, desperately shrinking back.

She slapped at her flaming hair with her hands and after a long while, finally managed to extinguish it. She let go of her hair and covered her eyes.

Her eyes were hit by two pieces of dirt blasted from the explosion, which embedded into them, and blood kept streaming down her cheeks.

Luckily, the external fire didn’t continue to pour in, only slowly igniting other objects.

The flame was just that instantaneous.

"I... I can’t see... Mom... Mom, I can’t see... My eyes hurt so much..."

Yserine cried, trying to rub her eyes, but ended up pushing the fragments deeper into the wounds, causing her to convulse in pain, crying as she curled up under the bed.

Instinctively, Li Chengyi wanted to reach out and save her, but as he raised his hand, he realized he had no hands at all.

’This happened in the past...’ he reminded himself.

He watched Yserine struggle to crawl out from under the bed, but utterly unable to find the direction.

Puff.

Suddenly, a shadow over a meter long charged into the room from outside the door.

It was a big yellow dog, its fur slightly singed.

The dog grabbed Yserine’s clothes with its mouth, whimpering as it dragged her out from under the bed and then ran to a corner of the room.

Releasing the girl, the dog grabbed something from the ground and tugged, revealing a stone cover leading to a narrow, dark passage.

Woof! Woof!

It barked at Yserine while trying to nudge her into the passage.

Yserine seemed to understand something...

"Ah Qiu... did Mom send you to find me?"

There was a sliver of hope in her voice, as if it was filled with expectations.

Woof! Woof!

The dog barked twice more.

"I understand, we’ll hide well together, and you’ll take me to find Mom," she said, patting the dog’s head.

"Ah Qiu, you’re the best."

Despite shaking from pain, she still managed to comfort the dog with a trembling voice.

The dog whined as if it was promising her.

Crack.

Suddenly, a wooden beam on the ceiling broke.

The dog sensed danger, gave Yserine a hard push into the passage, but its hindquarters were crushed by the falling beam.

Li Chengyi quickly tried to get closer to see what happened to Yserine and where she went.

"Mr. Cheng Yi?"

"Mr. Cheng Yi, are you there?"

An urgent call seemed to drift in from afar.

The scene before him began to fade, dissolving, and returning to darkness.

Li Chengyi stood at the bedroom door, only to realize he was drenched in sweat.

As if he had truly been in the midst of the fire.

The pager on his body continued to make noise.

He looked around and didn’t see the little girl’s figure.

Therefore, he took the pager from his waist and connected.

"I’m here. What’s the matter?" he responded.

"Thank goodness, something has happened here, and you may need to come out to deal with it," Elf said in a deep voice on the other end.

"Does it have to be now?"

"It must be now, otherwise the situation will get very messy, very serious," Elf answered.

Li Chengyi looked at the room in front of him, now somewhat skeptical that the passage could be the key to the escape method.

But now... how much longer it would take, he didn’t know.

"I’ll come out right away." He took a breath, slowly backed away, then suddenly leaned sideways and leapt out of the second-floor window.

He landed with a thud and ran towards the entrance he had come in from.

A few minutes later, he reappeared at the entrance where Elf and Li Wei were, by the earthen wall.

At the wall, three of the Blue Deer soldiers who had been here before were also standing.

Elf gave him a look and covertly signaled with her right hand, making a gesture for money.

Li Chengyi understood and quickly took off his backpack, revealed a smile, and pulled out a thick stack of banknotes.

"Money!"

"Good stuff!"

"Gift for you!"

He uttered a few simple phrases he had learned and stuffed the banknotes into the hands of each of the soldiers.
