Chapter 64: Chapter 64 - I won’t be listening

Zion and Blair both were knocked back from the shockwave their clash produced.

Blair checked to see if her house was okay, which it was. She then glared at Zion, her anger through the roof as she bolted right at him.

"What the hell? That shit hurt my fucking hand!"

[Since she is stronger than the host, her attack still caused damage. If the host attacked without the armor, the host’s arm would have come off.]

"Well, that’s good to know."

"Dark Hail!" Blair shouted as hundreds of demonic energy bolts tore through the air toward Zion.

"Oh, I got one for this!" Two handles materialized in his hands, and under the sides of his forearm, two machine guns appeared.

He shot down every attack, the bullets amplified by mana, piercing right through them.

’What kind of crossbow is that?!’ Blair wondered but quickly regained her composure. "Dark Veil!" She clasped her hands, and darkness engulfed the entire area, cutting off Zion’s senses.

"Now you won’t be able to do anything!" She yelled as orbs of dark energy materialized around Zion.

[Turning on digital sight. The host is now able to see what is going on in the form of a digital world.]

"Cool!" An orb came at him from the left, so he dodged. Then one came from the right, and he dodged again. More and more orbs flew his way, but he continued to dodge, block, or parry them without sustaining any damage.

"How?! You’re such a fucking cockroach!" A massive orb of black inky energy formed above her head, the power radiating with such intensity that Zion could feel the pressure it gave off, even with all of his senses not working.

[Detecting a massive spike in energy around the woman. Preparing countermeasures.]

"No, I wanna deflect it!"

[It is not advised-]

"Sometimes, you’ve got to have a little fun, Tessa."

[...Disabling countermeasures and directing all power to the pulsar canons.]

"That’s more like it."

"DIE YOU ANNOYING BASTARD!" For something so big, it moved at incredible speeds, reaching Zion within seconds.

Pulsar energy hummed around his hands as it grabbed the blade orb. The pressure was intense, and it pushed him back.

"Rrrghhhh! Come on!" His muscles strained, his body tensed, but he still kept pushing. Finally, he redirected the orb into the air, and with his hands still up, he blasted it with all the suit’s power, the explosion creating black fireworks.

"Tessa, punch in the coordinates to this place and reposition the satellite directly over us."

[Repositioing. Time estimated, 3 minutes.]

"Perfect."

Blair, in anger, attacked Zion up close, her punch rattling his jaw as he flew back. He got back up and kneed her right in the stomach, causing her to cough up blood. She again punched him in the face, powered by a blast of demonic energy, and he counted by whipping his hand around and extending a blade that cut her face as he flew backward.

For the next three minutes, they traded blows, Zion mainly being on the defensive since her power was stronger than his, albeit slightly. But thanks to his mana method and his 11 new cores to go along with it, as well as his new suit, he was able to keep up with her, even if her power was amplified by demonic energy.

"I’ll end this now!" She shouted, gathering as much energy as she could into her hands.

"Let’s go bitch!" Zion agreed, charging everything into his hands as well.

The two massive beams of opposing energies clashed, generating tons of energy that could power a modern city for 20 years straight.

Zion felt his arms strain as he was being pushed back by their beam struggle, but he didn’t care. He was having the time of his life right now.

[Repositioning complete.]

"Fire, 100 percent!"

[Charging. 10%...30%...60%...80%...99%...100% Death Ray Photon Canon is now firing]

A thunderous soundwave shocked the area, which could be heard throughout all of Midgard. shattering windows and temporarily causing deafness. A light so bright that not only did it light up all of Midgard, but it lit up every kingdom that existed on this side of the world. The Dwarves, Elves, Beastmen, Dragons, and Humans all saw this spectacle no matter where they were.

[Creating an energy field to contain the blast.] Ten projectiles flew from Zion’s back and positioned themselves around the entire Larson estate, covering a large radius. The laser would be able to get in, but nothing would be able to get out.

"Wha-What is that?! Is this the power of a God?!" Blair asked, shocked to see something so powerful, so destructive, rain down on them. Fear struck her hard as she collapsed onto the ground, getting into a praying position.

"Oh...Oh God...OH GOD PLEASE HELP ME!" She begged, praying for her life.

"Go ahead, pray to your god," Zion smiled as he walked over to Blair, holding her by the throat. "But just know, I won’t be listening."

[Matching vibrational frequency to the Death Ray Photon Canon to avoid any injury]

In a blinding instant, the sky split open and the ground heaved with a roar that silenced the world. A pulse of raw, unrelenting energy surged outward, swallowing all in its path. Stone, steel, flesh—everything—shattered, scorched, and vanished. When the fury passed, there was no wreckage, no smoke—only silence and dust, drifting where life and matter had once been.

And through all of that, Zion stood unharmed, Blair still alive in his hands but completely unconscious. Her body was full of burns and melting flesh. He kept her alive for questioning since she was his only lead in figuring out everything the demons and demonic humans were planning.

He looked around and saw that everything was just gone. No trees, no plants, no mansion, no people, no bones, no blood, no nothing. Just ash, dust, and a big ass hole in the ground where the mansion used to be.

The barrier was deactivated, and Zion noticed that if it wasn’t for the barrier, the entire Larson territory would have been decimated.

"Well, at least I killed that Carl bastard. Tessa, make a list."

[Carl the Treasure Hunter - Eliminated

Carl the Bandit - Eliminated

Carl the Vampire Demon - Eliminated

Carl the Demonic Human - Eliminated]

"Good stuff. Now, let’s deal with this bitch before exploring that hole." He put his hand on her chest and completely destroyed her mana paths, which then disrupted all of the demonic energy in her body, leaving her powerless.

"Oh shit! The Royal Knights! I killed them!"

[Every person was ejected from the barrier before the Death Ray hit.]

"Oh, you’re the best. Good shit. Now, let’s get to exploring-" A slash so powerful that it tore through not only Zion’s defenses but also his armor, which came out of nowhere, injuring him in the process.

"Arghhh!!!" He cried in pain, clutching his chest as the nano-particles repaired themselves and healed his wound.

"It seems you’re the one responsible for that light ray in the sky. What is your goal here?" A woman asked. "No, I’ll just beat it out of you."

She kneed him in the face so fast that Zion didn’t even know what happened. She appeared behind him, slamming him on the back, then picking him up and punching his helmet, cracking it.

’Argh! Who the fuck is attacking me?!’

[Adjusting for massive impacts. The shock absorption feature is now functioning properly.]

Another strike blasted Zion away, but this time, his suit didn’t crack or sustain damage.

"Interesting armor. I’ll take it as a trophy."

[Amplifying all Mana-based attacks.]

Zion quickly turned around, blasting the woman with everything he had. He didn’t just use the suit but also his own mana, which he even increased by using his Runic Body and Body Arts.

"Not bad, I actually felt that." The woman smiled maniacally as she stared down at Zion, completely unfazed.

"Huh? Ignis? Is that you? What are you attacking me for?!" Zion yelled as he deactivated his armor, finally getting a good look at the person beating him up, who turned out to be his fiancée’s aunt. Ignis Brightburn.

"The fuck? Zion? What are you doing here?"

"No, I should be asking that! You should be in the capital."

"Well, I was. While everyone was talking about the state of the kingdom in the Royal Palace, the sky suddenly became bright, and we saw what looked like a dragon’s breath attack. Everyone rushed over here thinking we were under attack."

"Oh, that makes sense- wait, who’s everyone?" Just then, a multitude of people arrived. His mom, his sisters, his aunt, the Magic Tower master, the pope, and the entire royal family.

"Well fuck." Zion cursed.

"What happened here?" The king demanded, staring right at Zion, but was ignored.

"Hey, Mom. Fancy meeting you here." Zion laughed, jumping into her arms for a big hug.

"Oh, my sweetie! I missed you so much! Did you know that I broke through to the Transcendent stage? It’s all thanks to you!" Zaleena didn’t care that important figures were there watching them. She hadn’t seen her son in a week, and she missed him dearly.

"Ahem, yes, it’s nice to see you, Zion, but could you please tell us what happened here?" The King asked once more.

"You see that bitch over there?" He pointed to Blair, "She’s a demonic human."

"Blasphemous!" The pope yelled in a rage. "Blair Larson is my second in command! She would never fall into the hands of the demons!"

Zion scoffed, "Why don’t you sense her energy, you old sack of potatoes."

"YOU-"

"Do it." The King cut off the Pope.

"Your Majesty-"

"I said, do it! Don’t make me repeat myself."

’Damn, we got some big shots here right now. Besides us kids, everyone here is at a minimum in the Ascendent stage. Heh, no wonder I was getting my ass beat by Ignis. Honestly, she wouldn’t even have stopped once she knew it was me.’ He shivered, remembering back when he asked for Lidia’s hand in marriage and Ignis said she wouldn’t allow her to marry a weak bastard, so she brutally trained him for three years straight.

’I wasn’t even weak for my age at the time.’ He cried silently

"Impossible!" The pope gasped as a black energy surrounded her body, still attempting to cling to her.

Zion then spoke again, "Oh, and if you look down below, you’ll see a lab where their demonic experiments were being conducted."

"How do you know all of this?" The king asked, and everyone else also wondered the same thing.

"Tracked a person who kidnapped my friend Alice and read his soul, which then led me to Flint Larson. Came here to ask him about it, and the bastard attacked me, so I beat him up and demanded that he tell me where she was being kept. He almost gave me the answer, but then his wife came and saved him."

"How did you know it was his wife?" Julius asked

"He called her honey, and when I put two and two together, she tried to blow me up, so I blew her husband up instead. And this-" he spun around with his arms spread out "Is the result of that. Didn’t expect it to be so destructive, though." He chuckled

"That blast was you?!" Everyone asked, intrigued to know just what he did to make everyone believe that a dragon had attacked the kingdom.

Some wondered because they genuinely wanted to know, while others wanted to covet that power for themselves, specifically the king.

"My mom gave me this crystal that held some of her power in it. My Aunt also put some of her in it, and I tweaked it, adding many runes and magic circles to it, and created a massive explosion. Didn’t expect it to be that crazy though." He lied straight through his teeth.

After he explained it that way, everyone lost interest.

’Yeah, that’s right you greedy sons of bitches.’ Zion cursed in his head.’
